Rainmeter and a Half-Life 2 style desktop

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

I received an interesting email from Joe Albericci AKA ThePengu a few days ago and I thought I’d share the content with you.

He told me about a a desktop customization platform called Rainmeter, whilst I had never heard of that particular application, I was aware of these types of applications. The whole thing looks pretty cool and I am running it as I type, although I am yet to find the right skin for me.

Half-Life 2 for Kids

for Half-Life 2

I have been meaning to post this for about 3 years. Seriously. 3 years. Well, here it is. A collection of maps designed for younger people. In fact let me just quote from the homepage:

“HL2 For Kids was set up in response to an idea suggested by Wisemx (HL2 Source Mapping), on the Chatbear Mapping Forum to provide younger people (3 – 12) with a series of maps to play that are non-violent, accessible and fun. The central theme of the project is the fairground or amusement park. It is hoped that a full series of maps can be put together to provide a lot of entertainment for children (and those of us who are still children !)”

Half-Life: Havoc

for Half-Life 2

“Half-Life Havoc (HLH) is a lesson in video game physics created in Half-Life 2 using the included level editing tools. Taking inspiration from games like Garry’s mod and Portal, HLH aims to create an environment where players can take some time to appreciate the complex physics simulations that are present in modern games. HLH is made up of a series of rooms, each of which has a puzzle or game that illustrates a feature of Half-Life 2’s physics engine. Commentary nodes spread throughout the level teach the player about what is going on in each of the games and gives insight into video game physics.”

Poll Question 067 – Which single player Half-Life games do you own?

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

Now, at first glance you would probably think that most visitors to PlanetPhillip.com have all the games in the Half-Life series but I have a suspicion that many are younger gamers and as such don’t have all of them. So this week’s (late again!!) question is

Which single player Half-Life games do you own?

Unused Half-Life: Source Game Content

About This map was specifically constructed to display unused content for Half-Life: Source and as such requires Half-Life: Source to be viewed. There are no enemies to fight against, it’s just a museum-type map. There is a Gman who speaks, and I don’t recall hearing those words.
