TREE: Half-Life 2: Ep1 Podcast

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

As part of The Replay Experience Experiment, here is the fifth of a number of podcasts, discussing one of the games we have played.

In this case, it’s for Half-Life 2: Episode One. Joining me on this podcast is Don.

We discuss Half-Life 2: Episode One from a number of different aspects. This time we go through chapter by chapter and I feel this is one of our best podcasts.

Both Don and I will respond to any comments you may make, so please don’t hesitate to comment.

In this final chapter, Gordon helps evacuate citizens and rebels and fights a strider blocking the train tracks. The Citadel blows at the end of the chapter, and its shockwave overtakes Alyx and Gordon’s train.

Upon reuniting with Barney at the train station, Alyx and Gordon work to move the citizens to the trains while facing increasing Combine opposition. They then decide to stay behind to lure the Combine away from Barney and the citizens as they board the train and make their escape.

Poll Question 291 – Do you like the idea of a Half-Life movie?

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

Well, it’s been discussed many times before but it finally looks to be happening on a professional scale: A Half-Life (or portal) movie!

I’ll probably be the one Half-Life fan to say that I think it’s a bad idea and here’s why…

You know how a movie is never as good as a book (well almost always never)? I think the same will happen here. Yes, the movie will be fantastic but not if you played Half-Life near when it first came out.

Half-Life: Shadows Part 1

for Half-Life

“What a party, eh! Those barneys sure know how to throw one, and the antics of that professor, what was his name? The one with the moustache?

Ah who cares, anyways, hell of a party, and then some. Of course, most of it lies quite dead in your memory, as you blacked out somewhere halfway, a short while after someone brought in some home made drinks, created in his lab while the supervisor wasn’t looking, then kept running under pretense of biological experiments! Applejack, that’s for sure!

Poll Question 198 – What Half-Life games have you finished playing?

What Half-Life games have you finished playing?

Not the most interesting poll question on PP, but I am hoping the results prove interesting. As you would imagine I have played all of them but I suspect that HL2 and EP2 will be the “winners” here.

I have to admit I am curious as to how many players have play BS and OP.

Anyway, get voting and let’s see what the results are.

Poll Question 178 – What is acceptable in a Half-Life game?

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

Last week I asked Would you play a mod that was purposefully trying to be offensive? and naturally the discussion touched on what is and isn’t offensive. So this week I have decided to allow that discussion more freedom.

Let me start by saying that personally none of the items in the poll are acceptable for me in a HALF-LIFE game. I am not saying that they shouldn’t appear in other games but that I don’t think it’s suitable/acceptable in a Half-Life game. Valve have worked hard to set a certain tone within the games and focus on other elements rather than simple shock value and for that I am glad.
