This mod allows you to play four short scenarios, all with a variety of enemies and weapons.
Some require looking for keycards, others require run and gun, but all are interesting.

Even though the mod is basically just a few unconnected maps it was fun to play and I enjoyed each one to varying degrees.
The Portal-style map was fun but not really big enough.
I would have preferred to have each map as a new chapter, so I could choose which one to play and in what order but it’;s not that important.
I apologize for not reviewing each map but I don’t have time – Sorry.
5 Words Or less Review
For A.D.D. players.
Gave this one a play recently and I enjoyed portions of it for the change of pace and the simple distraction. Compilation of a few short maps with no story, offering plenty of zombies to toast. Just a modder ” stretching his legs “, so to speak. * Rainy day play. *
Very odd. I’m not a puzzle fan and bashing zombies is not my idea of fun anymore.
I can’t put my finger on it but, for some reason, it was slighly pleasing to play. I think it must be to do with the reasonably well thought out environments mapped but they could have been better used.
The opportunity for combat against Combine to vary the gameplay in some places was missed.
Good maps, missed opportunities, pity.
I think the most important feature of the mod is headcrab snow people. A full fledged npc_snowmanzombie is expected in the future, or the modder’s mapping license will be revoked.
Yes, I agree with you Joe. This is very very important.
A snowman zombie, especially a snowman speed zombie is vital.
and of course, they reach inside their bodies and throw snowball gibs at you. and they explode into a splash of water. and Headcrab Santa is the enemy boss, complete with a Gonarch-like sack of goodies. Erm, headcrabs. Goodies. Headcrabs.
That could be the best Christmas mod ever.
I would say Play it Later, except I don’t think this is a “must play” mod. It was fun, it was short.
(I could not find the first keycard in the Aperture map. I don’t know if I’m a dork or if it just blended into the background too well. If it’s an Ep2 mod, my graphics card may be partly to blame.)
Did you check in the room with the zombies? I had to use the glowy ball to break the glass initially, then use a box to clear the glas out of the way so I could get into the room. Getting out was another issue. Not to give away too much, make sure you push all the buttons before dropping down into the room.
It’s by the human body. For me it was underneath a dead zombie.
Dead zombie? Well a deader zombie then.
Thanks Grey/Jasper,
By the time I thought to check out the zombie room, the floor was too red for me to see an ID card. (LOL at “deader zombie”–why do zombies leave blood on the floor, anyway?) Next time I’ll try to look first?
Oh, I used the glowy ball to break out the glass, too. And you can just hold onto it for it to do its business.
When I use “Maybe” I don’t mean maybe. What I mean is “Worth Trying” There isn’t any cohesive storyline or incredible map design, but it focuses on using an axe, using a keycard system and using a pistol, using grenades and using the mp5 and manages to work a few little quirks into each map.
It was a great relief to finish this set of four maps, there are some games that are just painful to play, this is one of them. Four maps unrelated other then being packed with zombies, all sharing the some pointless and meaningless gameplay, resulting in an experience immediately forgettable.
If you must play it, be warned it had all sorts of key option issues with quick save and load not functioning, also some trigger issues.
For me all four maps were a mess and I am lost to find any words of praise

I thinks is was enjoyable the map look a little bit too squary but the access to an outdoor exit and the general layout was something I enjoy, like the texturing and the reference to portal
It wasn’t also always evident to beat those zombies especially when you have grenades…
So for over half an hour it give something more interesting than simply kill zombies
If there is more in the future I defenetly will give it a try
I’m with mel. Except I didn’t get as far. In the 2nd map I finally did find a keycard to get into the next room, after restarting to “pre-organize” a means of escape from down below… However then I was stuck forever in the next room and gave up.
Puzzles with triggers that, depending on how things happen, don’t work or can’t be found is simply inexcusable. These are found and fixed in a testing phase before any map is released to the public.
As I didn’t complete the map, its not rated (as per the rules). I wonder how many others would have loved to slap a low rating on this but also gave up?
Downloaded zombie escape and installed it twice now into source mods, but no go…steam keeps verifying the files, then says they are ok, but still won’t launch…says the steam server is busy and to try again later…been trying for 3 days now…lol. However, all the other games launch ok in steam, so I’m beginning to suspect that maybe this download is corrupt or something…I don’t know, but I can’t play it !
I want to know where his zombie skin came from. It looks a lot like my zombie skin on FPSB.
I’m playing this right now, am I right in saying the on-screen health and remaining ammo etc is not supposed to be visible. Also, no sight on weapons.
Hey I’ve recently downloaded and played this one, but I didn’t realize that it was here posted on PP, I downloaded from mod DB, anyway I like, was fun and simple, just centered on the zombies, was a good work to be the first one of this author, I think the reason because I am giving it a play it now, is because of the Aperture Science map, I loved that, and I’d love to see more HL mods, centered on AS facility where u can combat there, that would be really awesome!
A very interesting concept with a good enough execution IMO.
The gameplay was centered more around zombies, which is OK by me, but it does get very repetitive. I really liked the concept of each map being in a different location and by far my favorite was the Portal one. The major problem though is simple; they’re very short. You can beat the whole mod in about 15 minutes, depending on your gameplay style.
Overall, this is a very fun mod to play and I recommend it. Even though it’s very short and a bit repetitive, Zombie Escape is a very interesting mod and if each entry was bigger, then this could have been a PF.
This is a great mod to play for ADHD users like me. Just enough content from each map to keep me focused, but not too much for me to loose interest. I love how each theme has it’s own weapons and puzzles. It’s not the same thing each time. Please play it now.
