It’s hard to get too excited over super short maps, and this is no exception. There is very little in the way of invention, but it must be put into context.
This was made in a Fast Mapping Competition, so almost anything becomes acceptable.
The map does a fair job of looking like some Black Mesa rooms, although the flow of room style doesn’t feel right.
There’s only about 10 enemies, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble.
It ends, just as your fingers are getting warmed up.
There’s way too much ammunition on the map. I didn’t like the enemy place. They’re waiting for you to kill them.
I would have given this a “Play it Later” but just as I was starting to enjoy the map, it ended.
A pretty generic Black Mesa styled map, and I thought it did a good job of looking like something from the Half-Life chapter “Lambda Core” (red and yellow corridors with the occasional steam and Alien Grunt) but there isn’t anything too exciting. The gameplay was pretty good, I thought that one of the rooms had too many enemies in however and could cause problems for some players due to the lack of health and ammo. Apart from that the map was very easy however and contributes to it’s short length. There is probably less than 5 minutes of gameplay here so don’t get too excited.
Worth playing but shouldn’t take you longer than 5 minutes.
Way too short! Just as you start getting into the flow it ends! But what there was, was a mild modicum of fun!
As part of a Fast Mapping Competition, I would like to know how long this took to create, if it was less than an hour I would be impressed, but if it was more than a few days, then less so. What little there was of it is worth playing if you are HL/BM die hard but don’t expect something epic. Ultimately with any free mod/map sometimes people expect too much, but despite its length this deserves to be played to encourage the author to expand it further.
As an entry in a fast level design competition it’s fine. Don’t expect much going in and you won’t be disappointed.
Things look nice here and the level has a good Black Mesa atmosphere, but the layout is pretty linear and the actual time to play is terribly short, maybe 3 minutes. As it is it’s probably not worth a look, but if it’s ever expanded or packaged as part of a fast level design mod it could go places.
Atmospheric Lambda Complex map. Good design provides some variety, and few challenging fights are thrilling.
I liked this one, because I would rather play short but good map than long but mediocre.
This fast level was totally a walk in the park, for me. Like, the mapper gave me gauss, which is a very overpowered weapon. It’s good that the theme of the lambda core setting is well emulated in this map, although the larger lambda core rooms from vanilla are absent here.
There’s a few scripting in the end and nothing really interesting in the level, but there also is nothing bad about it either. It’s really short and worth a play over lunch break.
Well this is a quikie one that can’t do you no harm so is a perfect play it later specialy now that there are not much releases.
Really feels like being in Black Mesa again. Big part are those public announcements, that are being sent around the area.
But it was so short, took just few mins to complete. And I was hoping to kill few grunts too, not just Xen mobs. At least it was just a map, so no need to restart Steam to check this out 🙂
Damn, just copied/pasted review here from text file, and now it’s gone and text file is already empty and saved :S
Okay, it’s a short map anyway, so go play it! Worth a few mins!
How do I pronounce it? Xaerox, Saerox, Seros, whatever.
Anyway this map is really great. The story is that you have to escape from the Lambda Complex. Pretty basic stuff.
Now, even though the enemies are mostly well placed, there were a lot of long paths which don’t have any teleporting enemies, making them feel REALLY empty.
Also, like a lot of these maps, this one is really short. But, this was for a Fast Mapping Competition, so I shouldn’t expect that much.
Overall, it’s a great mod. It’s really short, but still pretty good.
Nice short map with some enemies. It’s not a difficult map, but the atmosphere is pretty nice and feels a bit like a small epilogue.
Idk what to say for this short map because it is just bland. Just run and shoot down aliens in a linear map and that’s it.
