WTF

for Half-Life

18th December 2011

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

Just a simple Black Mesa style map. Quite a few working portals and a mounted gun that you can have some fun with.

Don’t expect it to be more than 5 minutes worth of fun though.

Oh, and look out for the Gman.

  1. Phillip says Maybe

Even though I have given this a MAYBE recommendation, I actually enjoyed this. It was very short but sweet. The reason I gave the MAYBE is purely because of its length. I know some readers HATE short maps.

The name is not very exciting or inventive, but you can’t have everything.

Set in a Black Mesa style area, you get to teleport around the place.

There really isn’t much to worry about, as almost every corner has an enemy waiting.

Worth 5 minutes of your coffee break, but not much more.

Thanks to 23-Down for sending this to me.

  2. I’ll drop an eye on it in a jiffy and spam my opinion then 🙂 Stay tuned!

Mostly agree you again Philip, this is (unfortunately) short fun, and quite tough..

The teleporters are fun as it’s not obvious where they drop you, except for the first green one.
When encountering the first enemies (soldiers) haste to the fan… won’t tell more 😉

That’s some of the nice ideas this map has, such as funny situation as the commanding & away-beaming Barney, or the good old Gauss gun “incident” 🙂

It’s quite hard cause of the lack of ammo imo and like out-of-a-sudden “spawning” (?) opponents..

      Therefore…

      Pro’s:

-Some good ideas (surprising teleporter exits, fan / turret-scene if you know what I mean and the end scene)
      -Humour
-Pretty “hard”, meaning challenging –> less ammunition, tough enemies
-A lil “puzzle”, finding the way into the security room
      -Music
      -Decent level design…..

      Con’s:

-….with not much variety, lot of grey in grey 😉
-Very, very short – I want more! (Is there more already??)
      -A bit less ammo imo^

Nothing really special or unique, but as Philip wrote: 5 mins fun

    Think Twice

Nothing very wrong with this short map, but overall there’s not too much to see here either.

It’s a short romp through a Black Mesa style area. My one tip is to use the various teleporters when you can – they can make your encounters easier by allowing you to get the drop on some enemies. I didn’t use those teleporters to my advantage and this ended up being a tough pack with limited ammo.

In the end this just feels like a quick teaser – there’s no more than a few minutes here and not really a satisfying ending either.

  4. Play It Later

At the end I could think of only one thing “is that it”?

To call this very short is an understatement, it’s not even coffee break length! What there was of it however, was at least a few minutes of fun. The look was quite well done but nothing special and the combat a little hard, but overall an enjoyable couple of minutes.

I played a second time with god and noclip on to see if there was anywhere I’d missed, but what you see/play is all that you get. it’s a pity there’s nothing between maybe and play it later because for me its a “maybe play it later”.

    Think Twice

Quite weak, few ennemys just a map u can play in matter of seconds and that’s what u will get with this one, so u can play this just to fit the quite empty bits between more important mods.

Oh God points for the Mounted MG, I just love Mounted Mach.Guns.

  6. Play It Later

Indeed it’s a funny but short to play experience. The mapping is ok sometimes a little simple but the combat experience is just fine as it is.

Give it a try if you don’t know what to do in the next 5 minutes.. 🙂
