Tunnel Woes

for Half-Life

7th October 2017

You find yourself in a tunnel.

A familiar tunnel, but then again everything in Black Mesa looks familiar.

There’s only one way forward, so get moving.

Are you going deeper into the complex or moving towards freedom?

Only time will tell. Good Luck!

  1. Play It Later

Nice a totally new Hl1 map which I didn’t even know before..

I never heard of the author before but don’t let yourself get discouraged by that especially if it’s the same for you as well. While the map itself is very short and rather straight forward in it’s game play it’s never the less a very nice one as it arrives with fantastic mapping for Hl1 standards and neat monster placement.

Although it’s somewhat sad that the author neglected to rely more on scripted_sequences here and there. It still at least has a few scripts to shine with. For the short duration of the map that’s acceptable I suppose.

If it wasn’t for the good mapping which I truly liked and the nice crossover with a certain other Half-Life title I’d probably rate this maybe due to it’s short length.

Play it later people but don’t expect anything ground breaking – after all it’s only a short map which was exclusively created for a 48h mapping contest.

    1. Hello,

      Thank you for your comment.
I did not think about adding NPC scripted sequences, I will keep it in mind for the next challenge.

      Glad you liked the level.

  2. Play It Now!

A short experience (I like it when it’s short 🙂 ) it’s steight forward, a little challenging, good atmosphere and design even if repetitive.
We could expect more but for a WE mapping… waouw… I would like to be able to do the same

    Maybe?

Nice short map here, always good to see a Half-Life map release. This is a decent little 5-10 minute romp, mostly against slaves and grunts. Things are well laid out and ultimately the map is very linear but that’s understandable in a map built in 12-ish hours. There are some nicely challenging sections and a couple of clever enemy placements to keep you on your toes.

Overall it’s a Maybe from me – I had fun but there’s little surprising about it. It’s a nice achievement in a speed-map but it’s hard to recommend that people seek it out.

  4. Play It Now!

Good classic half life style map, like it, let me thinking about good moments in 98 in the original one 🙂 (and last part the blue shift end !)

  5. Play It Later

It’s so short that I’m having a really hard time thinking about what I could even say.

It’s well detailed, a little too straight forward but still fun to play, none of the fights felt unfair but they also weren’t challenging enough in my opinion.

I feel like it’s still good enough to give it a PIL, I had fun with it and I always love to go back to Half-Life 1 even if it’s just for 10 minutes. And the little crossover at the end was a nice addition as well.

  6. Play It Later

For a map made in such a short time, it’s decent. Had some fun with pitting the alien soldiers against the army, but combat against grunts was easy when you have long corridors and are beyond their range. Maybe some more claustrophobic areas for next time. Health and ammo in the back of trucks was repetitive, but good mixing up with an enemy in one or two of them. Overall, nothing hugely wrong, but more objects and interesting placement would make it that much better.

  7. Maybe?

A straightforward, short but fun level, generally good looking and it doesn’t overstay its welcome.

    Play It Later

This is a solid Play it Later. I like the concept overall, but the tunnel itself leads to very linear and quite predictable combat situations in this short map.

Maybe some puzzles in order to follow the path could’ve fit better instead of almost no environmental challenges.

    So I guess that’s it.

Play it to have some quick HL combat time.

  9. Play It Now!

I love this map! The enemies are placed very well so the combats are very fun. I like the linear design of the map which makes the map speedy. (I personally like simple and linear maps.) Enjoyable map!

  10. Play It Later

It was kinda challenging on Hard but it’s good overall
Also the end area was From Blue Shift!
