As a follow-up to the successful Tune (a 24-hour Atom), the Map Labs folks expanded the challenge for this Test Tube. Plus – as the title confirms – there’s a twist: entries must be based on TWO songs!

I am honestly unsure what to think about this competition as a whole gaming product.
At first, I thought most entries were much more coherent and logical than the first “tune” competition. I felt at least in this edition we have the songs in which all the entries were inspired.
But then I had this strange feeling of the last entries being way too much abstract and surreal, and not precisely linked to the songs as some entries had only instrumental pieces used as inspiration for their maps.
For me, the entry “Acceptance” was a worthy winner and a cool map that developed a beautiful romantic-tragic story. I was kind of moved by this one, and I was hooked by the Julee Cruise album in which the song was taken as inspiration for the map. So I thank the author for introducing this artist to me I love her style and lyrics.
Besides this entry the rest were just to “niche” to me, so yeah the competition offers nice gameplay but short-time action and very abstract topics so I guess many gamers won’t necessarily love this.
Is a big Maybe to me.
