Here is another “Atom” (24-hour map jam) run by Map Labs. This time, the prompt was simple: make a map inspired by a song.
Here are the entries – a massive 28 maps were received! Enjoy!

If you believe this release is missing important tags, please suggest them in a comment?
Hello, why are my comments always removed from here? It say nowhere that you need to be registered to comment and my name alone should show that I am qualified to comment :(!
When you leave an absurdly negative comment, without any attempt at constructive criticism, I’m going to remove the comment. Of course negative reviews are acceptable, and of course many releases won’t be your thing. But saying nothing beyond “a waste of time for both mappers and players” is unacceptably rude and insulting and will be removed.
Sorry, but this is the way I experience most of these short competitions and I remember other players seeing it the same. It seems to me that 24 hours just isn’t enough to produce anything substantial and players looking for it should be warned!
No one needs your crappy warnings to hear that a 24 hour map jam was made in 24 hours. Cut the crap, and stay out of the comment sections for projects you have no business with. Frankly I don’t even believe you’re trying these. You seem to just be dismissing people’s work because you don’t know what a game/map jam is and fail to see that limitations are an important part of the creative process, not something done to annoy you.
I played all the maps listed here since the place was called Planet Philip and honestly compared to what was released years ago, I am indeed disappointed. But if it is so clear to you how 24h competions work out, I will cease to post any comments. Weird enough nobody else does as well…
Hello Wesp5, I’ve also been on this site for 10 years, and I partly agree with you, but still thanks to Unq for his work.
As I said, negative reviews are fine and welcomed. But a lot of your recent comments have crossed into the realm of utter disrespect and rudeness – and that’s why the comments are out of line and removed.
I don’t believe that I insulted any specific maps as such, I only said that most were a waste of time or unfinished, which sadly has become a real trend lately (and is probably due to the short competition durations).
Playtime is shorter than 3hrs, I just watched playthroughs for like 2 entries so I took longer. Also, ‘Arctoitea’ entry is mentioned in the RTSL post, but missing from the pack I downloaded some days ago from here.
There’s some art entries, some abstract ones, a few low effort or troll, but a good amount of other good entries to balance those out. Here are some honorable mentions, more in my stream:
The first entry had something I never saw before,
‘KClO3’ probably overall winner,
‘Clockwork’ fascinating! I replayed a part maybe 6 times over. This is my Personal Favorite of the pack.
As with some other challenges, most entries here manage to switch you in an engulfing unique universe. And they are able to do that in a snap, and I love that, and have to say it’s not an easy feat for the short amount of time each entry is played for.
There’s new mechanics and new types of gameplay. This pack has some good content that will definitely make it worthwhile to Play It Later.

Arctoitea isn’t an entry, it’s the second line of the really long titled map on the line above.
Thanks, it was confusing since it already had a ‘by’ in it. Any chance we can get quotes around the entry title, at least for cases like that?
I don’t know which recommendation tag to give this one… So I’ll give it a big Maybe? because even though the idea may sound cool, that is, developing a map laid out around or inspired by a song, most entries were badly implemented and the authors didn’t even dare to mention which song they picked up.
So the result is a bunch of maps with various topics, from surreal stuff to big “walking simulators” as I call those maps where the player just walks with no purpose.
Then the last entry called “Sounds of Silence” being just a fuk*n blind screen is like a huge middle finger insult to any HL2 fan gamer ever, so that map could perfectly be the worst map ever developed, IDK I just felt irritated after launching that last stupid entry, I thought it was almost the perfect definition to this challenge, don’t expect the best maps ever, because you may end up with a big middle finger curse right on your face.
So this one had a lot, really a lot of entries most of the maps are quite short and the idea of theme look quite promising but wasn’ really follow by authors, i will detail shortly what I felt and what I thaught about playing Tune – Map Labs Atom #4
