From the ReadMe:
“This is a pre release for my level They Live. The experience is far from finished, there is still much to add. The storyline isn’t all the way developed but basically your are Gordon Freeman, an expert in the science of teleportation. The lambda lab requires your expertise on some upcoming tests. Obviously all hell breaks loose and you must stop it.”

ok/good game/nice balance/no bad bugs/a bit uneven & jumpy at times/needs finishing
Early levels confusion, some puzzles impossible without noclip. No combat until half way.
They Live obviously wants to be a quality map pack, but it completely misses its mark and instead falls back to mediocrity. The author states in the Readme that this is is a pre-release, but if this is an indication of things to come, the full release might merit some anxiety.
It’s too bad this map pack is riddled with construction anomalies and too many level design beginner trademarks like abrupt map changes, shifty textures, and unclipped water. And that’s just the construction itself; level design too is lacking. The lack of lighting requires too much use of the flashlight and can lead to navigational frustration, rooms are often too basic, scripted sequences are overused (especially in the beginning), and crates are almost everywhere! R_speeds fortunately hover in the reasonable range.
Comparatively, gameplay isn’t too bad. The beginning starts with the proverbial set-up and accident, after which is a torrent of scripts that literally shake the area. While gameplay is quite reminiscent of Half-Life, especially in the first few maps, it takes on its own deviation beginning in the later crate-filled maps, including some neat Marine-alien firefights. Weapons and ammo aren’t too plentiful but aren’t really needed much because there aren’t that many enemies here, especially when fragged Marines offer up their 9mm clips. There’s even a bit of exploration, and a few puzzles, in some areas. But forget about the story complementing gameplay.
Thus, They Live may or may not be worth playing depending entirely on player tolerance. Recommended largely for the desperate seeking a blast from the Half-Life past.

It’s a beginner’s map pack and mapping is simple, but giving some nice touches, and gameplay is interesting enough. So maybe you will like it in overall. There are 13 maps, so it’s not too short. Most of your enemies will be headcrabs, zombies, alien slaves and human grunts, and there enough more ammo and powerups to play it without problems with any level of difficulty chosen.
P. S. I found no places, which force you to use noclip, so if you get stuck, just search a bit more. There are also autosaves, so you can replay any situation, if something gone wrong.

Some fine maps, not really impressive.
