The level change between the first and the second level was a little buggy for me. I tried jumping into the read area but it just froze and found walking around it, changed the level.
In addition, the last part, after the Garg and Gman disappear also caused me problems, but you only miss a short cutscene, where the Gman promises to return.

WOW, this is a “blast from the past”. Over ten years old and I still had fun.
Let me tell you that it gets better. The first few minutes worried me because it’s so blocky, but the second and third maps improve.
Forget the introduction, it’s not written by a native and in fact, I didn’t even read it until after I played the maps.
The ending is buggy, but all in all it was pretty fun to play. Don’t expect it to make sense, with regard to the locations or the things you need to do. Just enjoy it for what it is: an early release with some interesting situations.
Just a quick note to say I mistakenly said SourceMods folder instead of Half-Life folder in my instructions. Sorry about that.
Eh?? Into sourcemods ? You need to copy it into the half-life 1 steam folder don’t ya?
Still nice mod not the best mapping but it makes some fun. Btw: In Half-Life Won I didn’t encounter the bugs you descripted on top.
This had a part 2 too…
It’s coming tomorrow.
Wow! This is practical joke, unless I’m missing something, I just ain’t gonna bother finishing this!
From the start this just didn’t feel right, the scale of doors and steps was way out. I can’t comment on enemy placement as I’m not a Mapper or a Modder, but if an enemy doesn’t react as soon as they see/hear me then I know something is wrong.
I understand how you feel, but I promise it gets better.
Judging by the screenshots I got about 2 thirds the way through. It wasn’t getting better?
It’s pretty buggy, so it gets a little frustrating. My issues were:
Bug 1 – after you kill the two grunts and approach the red area under the arch, it would always freeze up. Managed to to approach from the left side of the arch (as you first look at it) and got it to work correctly
Bug 2 – after pressing the “Control Room” button nothing seems to happen. Maybe I missed something. I ended up noclipping through the door
Bug 3 – after killing the big guy (4th screenshot from the last), going around the corner, and killing the grunts then the game would freeze up when I tried to go upstairs. I used notarget here and it stopped freezing up.
This would have been ok if these bugs were fixed.
I am really struggling to give this a recommendation image, as there were some parts I loved and some parts I hated.
I am going to give this a Maybe, but really I could have given it any of the recommendation images, excluding Personal Favourite. The first map was awful, and while I do like houses within HL mods, this one just looked blocky, unimpressive and claustrophobic. Like Phillip said, it does actually get better in the next two maps. The textures were pretty bland and wasn’t visually impressive, and the mapping wasn’t too great either. The gameplay was really good on the other hand, very enjoyable and it makes up for what it lacked in the other areas. I didn’t encounter any bugs in the whole mod, so I am surprised to see that other people seem to be getting a lot of them.
Don’t quit after the first map, because it isn’t too bad a mod.
Playing trough this mod gave me the 2half life freeze ups just as vancanucksfan.
But I could continue after loading the saves back up wich is kind a anoying
The mapping is far from good even though I kind a liked the progress of the map “evolving” over events.
the best part by far with a huge drawback was.
The gargantuan getting meat’ed up and then not ending up fighting him wich made me fairly sad.
ending up with a maybe seems fair as I did not enjoy it as much as some but I didend hate it as much as.
where I have to copy this file ?? I !!!Can you explane me better.Althought it s writing how to do I don t understant how and what?when I go to How to… it s says page dont found ???? Please help. Sry for my bad english.. maybe it’s good,English isn my native language 🙂 Pls HELP ME…and thanks 🙂
You need to open the file with 7zip. In the file is a folder called “the_way_is_clear”. Copy this folder into your Half-Life folder. The one with the Valve folder in it.
I would have rated it slightly higher if it was possible to change the level and play the rest. I tried every ‘trick’, walking by the left of the red, right, behind, whatever. It always froze and crashed the game back to desktop.
this mod, is lower than a better than Maybe? grade, because is too way too boxy and some dor didn’t work propperly so that affected the paths and the layout of the general map, I hope 2nd part is better than this one, but really if u skip this for a while u won’t loose of nothing interesting really.
I also like that Phillip upload HL mods and maps still, and keeps alive the spark for Hl 1 nostalgia.
This mod was pretty crash-happy for me too, in the same places vancanucksfan mentioned. I had to load the 3rd map manually since the transition crashed every time. Although the “control room” button did work for me – the door it controls does not open immediately, I went exploring and came back about 30 seconds later and it was open.
Anyway, overall I would say stay away from this pack, bugs or not. It starts out really ugly and amateurish, and it does get better, but it really retains the amateurish look and feel. The gameplay is the real disappointment – it’s full of find-the-button and then find-the-door spots that you just get tired of. The only “puzzle” I can think of that wasn’t a button was a crate you had to push to make a jump to a ladder above you. Even the gargantua encounter is solved by pressing a button.
While the maps and gameplay do improve over the 3 maps, they really don’t get that good. In short, I advise you to skip this one.
What to say? In my eyes, a typical Russian mod – in the meaning of being terrible, and terrible odd.
The “story” is not worth mentioning (you’re Den Freeman, the son of Gordon) and the gameplay is pretty easy, starting in a city, finding HEV suit and weapons, push some buttons to get teleported to some odd place with a church, swim through underwater area, hit a switch blablabla
I wonder what the author was thinking when creating this, it’s all so random and sometimes pretty obvious, yawn!
Let’s see whether or not part 2 is better…
Pro’s:
-A bit variety of mapping, outside and indoor in a city, cave, lab
-A bit combat action – but too easy, plenty of ammo, weapons, health etc.
-A few easy “puzzles”
-Some scripts
Con’s:
-Odd mapping and layout
-Weird story
-Short playtime
-Bugs (getting stuck, mapchange lead to game crash)
-Balancing – too many weapons, too much ammo for less combat
-Bad atmosphere at all times
Small good mod, not bad for beginner mapper.
Man, is this map nostalgic.
Well, it’s not really a map, it’s actually a mod. The first places are a bit boxy and glitchy, but as Phillip mentioned, it does get a bit better.
You start off in a city, get the HEV suit, armor, guns etc. and you end up in a weird church(??). The layout is pretty weird.
And yes, I played this map on the WON version (still play that) and it crashed on the red portal.
Overall, it’s not bad for a Russian mod. It’s just odd, buggy and may not be as good as it was back then.
How this mod went to “Avoid it” is that it is very broken. Map after map, I experience crashes and in map 3, it crashes constantly. There’s no way I’m beating the game without cheating my way through because everytime I kill the alien grunts before reaching the end, it’s where I crashed like 3 times.
