I am incredibly excited to announce a new initiative from RTSL called “The Hammer Cup”.
I hope this will be an annual event, but let’s see what happens with the first year!
The Hammer Cup 2016, a series of five single player mapping challenges for Half-Life 2: Episode Two, run by RUNTHINKSHOOTLIVE.COM, with the NECA Zero Point Energy Manipulator as the grand prize.
It consists of five 19-day mapping challenges, each with a different theme.
Entrants will receive points for each challenge they enter.
At the end of the event, the best 3 points totals from the challenges they entered will be added together for each entrant.
These totals will decide who wins the Grand Prizes.
This means that entrants do NOT have to enter each and every contest to win the grand prize but they will needed to have entered at least 3 challenges to have a chance of winning the grand prizes.
Points will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
All other entries will receive the same amount of points for entering the challenge.
In addition, bonus points will be awarded for Design, Visuals, Sound, Gameplay and Miscellaneous.
Full details will be announced at the time of the first challenge.
There are three judges: Phillip Marlowe AKA PlanetPhillip; owner and operator of RunThinkShootLive, Don AKA Unq; well-known modder and RTSL livestreamer and Dennis Glowacki, Environmental Artist for EA and long-time modder.
There may be minor adjustments to each date depending on the circumstances. All times GMT.
The challenge theme is announced at the start of the challenge.
Begins: 11:00am | Ends: 11:00pm | |
Challenge 1 | Thu. 7th Jan | Mon. 25th Jan |
Challenge 2 | Thu. 18th Feb | Mon. 7th Mar |
Challenge 3 | Thu. 31 Mar | Mon. 18th Apr |
Challenge 4 | Thu. 12th May | Mon. 30th May |
Challenge 5 | Thu. 23rd Jun | Mon. 11th Jul |
To ensure that the event is as successful as possible, the prizes need to be as good as possible.
I have bought most of them already, but I used the regular donations and now need replenish the funds.
Any financial help you can give, will be gratefully accepted.
I have created a special site for the vent and will be linking to this for all future promotions. Check it out: The Hammer Cup 2016 Site.
Later today, I will be creating a video explaining the event.
Great initiative Phillip!
Looks great!
Will the themes be somehow connected?
Possibly but not very strongly. Nothing Like BeginningVille, MiddleVille and EndVille.
Fantastic idea! I love the points system (and of course that grand prize!). Also very happy to see that a good number of the challenge times are outside of the school year in my country, which should make competing a good bit easier for myself and probably many others. Can’t wait for the first competition!
This is really smart, Phillip. Way more clever way of enticing people to join competitions. I’ll have a hectic year but I’ll do my best to make content for it!
