BM: Quarantine

for Black Mesa

Gordon’s misadventures in the Black Mesa ventilation system left him trapped within Sector C’s chemical research wing.

Like many areas of the facility, the wing had gone into quarantine following the resonance cascade in a vain attempt to contain the invading organisms.

Gordon would have to find someway, or someone, to lift the lock down if he was to escape.

Welcome to the third challenge from The Hammer Cup 2016, which has a Grand Prize of a NECA Gravity Gun, plus other prizes for second and third places.

This challenge contains 12 entries all with the idea of a “backtracking” as the main theme.

One of the staple events in video games is the backtrack sequence. A part of the game where you retrace your steps in the exact location but this time something has changed.

The change can be due to new enemies, a violent explosion, time travel, new vehicles etc.

We would like you to create a map where the player interacts with an area and then has to backtrack through the same area, but the area must have changed.

The reason for the change and the exact change is entirely up to you.

Hangover

Gordon Freeman finds himself on the sea shore with a terrible hangover.

He is surrounded by empty beer bottles a few Headcrab corpses and a bicycle.

Does not remember anything about how he got there or what happened there and the night before.

Sets off to find out and as usual gets into a bunch of “fun” activities along the way.

He’s wife fears for their child and herself, but is too frightened to leave John, fearing the reaction of her husband.

One day John’s wife has collected enough courage to flee from Point Spruce with their small son, Eddie.

Passed out, John has been left alone and locked in his own house. It’s time to find his escaping family.

John is about to experience the most fearsome and challenging journey of his life.

There’s no where to hide or run, so the only way is forward.
