This mod started well. The scene was set and the design look real. However the action was a little boring and the mod didn’t really end.
SPOILER START
When you enter the last room and the screen goes dark it’s possible to simply back out and carry on. There’s nothing left to do and you don’t have any weapons, but still, it should have automatically finished.
SPOILER END
It show potential for attention to detail but lacks fun and excitement.
My Recommendation
if you have ten minutes and want to kill some time.
OMG! =)
That’s my map!
Quite fun map, some issues however. I liked the window to the outside world where the troopers were storming in, and the explosive tram. Very fun. However, there were no “gates” as to say, you could run to the end, out of health and nearly out of armour, and run back to the start point to get some more. It kinda defeats the point of looking for supplies. Unless of course this was intended. I liked the loader lift, and the scientist with the gun. When I looked at the description, I got the impression that these people would follow you on your adventure, instead of being alone.Overall, it was fun. 🙂
Yes, and it’s not bad. Just a few tweaks and it would have been a Play It Now! What’s your next SP project?
It is difficult to say… Now I have one unfinished map. I am working with storyline, I am trying to make a mod shorter, because second “mapper-story-writer” don’t want to work… I plan to make about 5 maps in it. Of cource that is another Black Mesa Episode. Now I have only architecture in map.
I didn’t downloaded this, but I saw on the screenshots that there’s a monster stucked on the map (Yellow flying dots), wich is a very “noobish” error that really needs to be fixed before releasing a map, I think. I’ll download’n test later and post my review.
I know, but I was trying to fix it, and there was no success. So, we have “yellow-flies”… =(
Gonome – Sorry about being so critical. It is really nice map for a beginner. (Heh, I’m one :P)
If you’re having trouble with those floating yellow dots, use a mod called Spirit of Half-life. I’m sure you’ve heard of it but in case you haven’t, it’s a “mapping mod” that gives you new features like particles and train doors – I’m using it for my mod The Adventures Of Gus. I suggest you check it out. Oh yeah, it gives you the option to disable the dots.
http://spirit.valve-erc.com/ if I remember right.
No problems, buddy. Criticism – a good thing, it helps us too correct our mistakes. But I prefer simple HL fgd. In HL scene with “scientist with a gun” were no yellow dots. So I made something wrong (but entities were “not solid”) o_0
It is my first normal map. All the others were cubes with a lot of monsters. Thanks for support.
The yellow blobs appears when the monster is stucked. Perhaps is not really stucked at wall or something, but when you spawn the monster inside the floor, or near a small box or something that can affect their hitboxes, that debug feature appears.
Check where you are spawning NPCs. Be sure they are not near to other objects that can affect the correct spawning.
Anyway you can check out the “No Yellow Blobs” to disable that feature (not recommended of course).
I’ll try to download this mod to test it.
Cheers!
Not a lot of point to this mod, you get no sense of progress or achievement playing through. Most of the encounters were hidden away in small rooms many of which you had no need to enter. What was there was well done design and texture wise, although you could be critical about some boxy design and over bright textures. Overall the design is acceptable but the gameplay and flow are not there. The author needs to work on developing action sequences and make progress more interesting with the odd puzzle and surprise attack. As it stands the mod is a “walk in the park’. However, the author shows promise and I will look forward to future work.
I can not recommend a “Play It Now” as you must have better things to do with your time. “Consider It” and if you do play it then leave some helpful feedback for the author.
lol I love the headcrab rating system
really short with good idea but not always set correctly it has potential and would really like to see something new from you
Agree with Stef – give us more with more in it. And more realistic objectives.
Guys, that was not a serious project. That was like a training for me. I know a lot of it’s mistakes, because it was discussed on russian HL forum. So just try to enjoy it… 😉
The mod is great but it is very short I hate the part were a baney and a monster that fires with those flyes are in that bathroom and I can’t save him:))
Run around and have fun for about 5 minutes. I hope for more.
planetphillip,
If it is possible, please, fix the download link.
In the meantime try here.
Thank you, Gilfrarry!
Cool map, but too small.
Single BM map with some good ideas but also big flaws. You’re Alex Bradley after the BM incident and you’re about to flee the facility it seems. So grab your HEV suit, some weapons and find a way out!
Pro’s:
-Quite neat leveldesign, detailed with good lighting
-A few nice scripts
-Plenty of HEV chargers at start, also more than enough ammo
-BM story and feeling
Con’s:
-Very short, what a pity!
-Balancing, it’s too easy, even on hard skill
-No puzzles
-Minor textures flaws
-Minor design flaws like only one door of double doors opens
-No music – would fit in here
Conclusion: If only the playtime would be longer, it could easily get a “play it later!”
Another classic “Escape from BM” map, which could have been much, much better.
The gameplay was classic BM gameplay, however the combat is just way too easy and the mapping isn’t so well done. There were bugs everywhere, like the doors. The lighting was poor, however there were a few fun scripted sequences here and there, which aren’t so bad.
Overall, I say play it only if you’re interested. If it was bigger and had some more to it, then this could’ve been a PIL.
Very short map with very easy gameplay. No puzzles, just run and gun until you reach the end.
