Silent Room

for Half-Life 2

21st July 2018

“In Silent Room, you play as just another average citizen of an average city. On a certain day, you and Quinn, a friend of yours, were invited by Danny, your paranoid friend, to party in his home. As it turned dark, you got too drunk to even stand up and so had to lie down in Danny’s bed. You fell asleep… and woke up at midnight only to find the door locked… which is when your ordeal begins.”

How interesting. I ran my nickname in yahoo.com and I found my map here. I never noticed how far it spread, not that I don’t like it. So what do you think of my map?

    1. I think you must enjoy frustrating most people and pleasing the very small minority who solved the map without cheating.

  2. Phillip says Maybe

Right, first off let me say that it’s from 2005 and maybe the flashlight issue wasn’t present at the time, OR MAYBE IT WAS AND THE AUTHOR WAS TRYING TO ANNOY YOU (Yes, I know I was shouting).

I found the whole map too frustrating to be fun and the players speed and ability to jump seem to have been curtailed.

If you watch the video you will see I had to cheat and I suspect 90% will have to and the other 8% were lucky and the remaining 2% are geniuses.

With all the items on the floor providing yet more reasons to get annoyed, I was more happy than I should be to finished, even if I had to cheat.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Good Luck.

Life is frustrating enough without this one.

It’s dark and no flashlight. I never found the key to get out of the first room.

I think this map was an experiment. Is there a second room? I may never know.

Hi phillip could you at least update decent old maps? So far they all have been pretty mediocre.

This has to be a troll map. It’s impossibly dark and you have no flashlight. For some reason my game brightness button was grayed out as well (is this because of Gauge??).

It would be a frustrating map even if you could see, since the ‘puzzles’ involve stupidly hidden keys that are also physically hard to get to, since your movement and jumping are also gimped. Throw in the darkness and we have a new winner for worst Source map I’ve played.

Stay far away. I can’t believe this got any ratings above an Avoid It! There are no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

  6. Avoid It!

Too dark to find a key where I couldn’t use a flashlight. Too confusing and weird player movement concept. Didn’t like at all.

  7. Avoid It!

The map is broken. Like, literally broken. Both versions. There’s no way to open the bathroom door. I’ve tried a million times without cheats and it didn’t work.

What else is there to say? This is one of the most annoying maps I’ve ever played. No flashlight, slow movement, props everywhere just to annoy you, the list goes on.

    Should you play it?

    N O

    1. Unq

Yeah the bathroom door was broken for me as well. However I saw Phillip open it in his video, so I cheated through it to be done with this map as soon as possible.

    Avoid It!

Gosh, this kind of maps seriously makes me think some people who modding in the first days of source modding, were too naive, or too stupid people.

The concept may be interesting only if you DO IT IN A BIGGER MAP! not a tiny apartment, and even less if that tiny apartment is dark as your momma arse!!

So yeah, much annoying stuff on this one, it really doesn’t even deserve to rant about it anymore!

And also being such an old map, this is very possible that is broken or something.

If you want to get frustrated and annoyed then this is for you.

  9. Avoid It!

Sorry but this is terrible. As Roy says, life is frustrating enough…
