    Maybe?

Short mod (2 maps). Just human grunts.
‘Hard level, but not impossible, all you need is some strategy” the author says. And he’s right.
That makes it good. Betcha can’t finish it in ya tea break.

Only grunts but played well , good hard combat, however, a bit short and obvously lacking varaity of gameplay and content.

  3. Maybe?

Yet another tiny 2-map tough gruntfest, hooray! But really nothing special if you want a story or different gameplay after some time..

    Pro’s:
    -A lot of tactical action
    -Much ammo from soldiers

    Con’s:
-Poor leveldesign, except for the starting area
    -Less weapons and enemytypes
    -Less health
-Ridiculous start (HEV and weapons just below a turret in a box-,-)
-No puzzles, story or anything special

If you want to make a level with lots of marines to kill, and you have to use the Half-Life textures and you want it to have some connection with real life, where do you set it? In a military base in a desert of course. Which is what a very large number of HL mappers do. And this level is no exception, except that this is a secret military base. And that’s as close to originality as this map gets.

The main problem is the stupid difficulty. Probably the worst part is the beginning as your HEV, crowbar and Glock are guard by a sentry gun. The only way to get any equipment is to take serious damage from a sentry gun, which would be dispatched easily, should if you had a gun. The beginning is the worst place for that sort of problem as it can put you off the rest of the level. On top of the initial frustration, certain places are completely stuffed with marines and quick saving every couple of seconds is the only way to survive. Luck rather skill is often the deciding factor is these battles. Sure I like a challenge, but I don’t like spending half my time looking at the ‘Loading…’ screen. This level of difficulty makes it hard to enjoy the level.

The quality of construction is below average. Some areas aren’t too bad, but most of the level consists of simple rectangular rooms, often quite cramped. Combat suffers in these cramped areas because movement is restricted, for both the player and the enemy. Many areas look like they were added just to increase the length of the level, with little effort being put into their construction. Texturing is particularly poor, with some terrible choices such as floor textures on walls, and some other the textures are heavily over used. There are also a couple of places where it is possible to fall out of the level. These sorts of problems shouldn’t exist, because they’re so easy to avoid.

The poorly balanced gameplay, the lack of variety, the short length and the below average architecture, add up to make a low quality grunt-fest that I didn’t particularly like and can’t recommend.

  5. Maybe?

Every meter, just one grunt, another meter, another grunt. They live like a family in that base. I recommend to turn away when attemting to go inside. If not, you alone can’t deal with this horde of terrible soldier who shoot you on sight putting you in a difficult situation like breathing under water until the stop watching you.
