This release from Rednev444 was his best so far, although not his latest. For some reason, this map wasn’t displayed when I originally searched and I only found it when I was searching for something else.
Although I did quite enjoy playing it, it suffers from a number of issues.
1. All NPCs and enemies are static. They are just standing around and waiting for you. This means the level feels dynamic.
2. Too often there are two enemies either side of an entrance way. This was cool 15 years ago but we have moved on from that.
3. The whole place doesn’t make sense. I’m in a village with mines either side. One leads to a generator and the other an army base. Weirdest village I have ever seen.
4. The red text on the screen is often hard to read.
5. There should be more health packs, but that could just be me.
6. The voices of both the vortigaunts and army grunts sound the same when you are next to them or behind a wall. That could be the game’s fault – I don’t know.
7. Enemies suddenly appear after you do something. I’m not talking about spawning in front of you. They are just waiting. IF there was a reason for them to be there, that would be oaky. An alarm in the army base with a few doors opening, that would make sense.
8. The sound effects are too isolated and loud.
I’m sorry to sound so critical but these are things that will help the mapper improve.
Besides feeling “video-gamey” and very symmetrical, I quite enjoyed the challenge. The mapper needs to create more realistic settings and objectives.

In my search for more BM maps to enjoy, I do not think that this one will be in my library of must plays any time soon, don’t get me wrong though, I had fun.
The dungeon style design to the levels was appreciated, rarely see that sort of thing these days and I did enjoy it, only issue I have with it is that the visual design of the locations are extremely different, going from a laboratory to a cave immediately was a bit jarring to me.
The fights were a rather dull affair, I don’t know how much time was put into nodegraphing the map but many enemies stood in place and took shots when you appeared, was not very engaging as a fight.
I find it hard to give critique to this map, not much going on in it, however I hope that what I provided gives you enough help in the future.

I really like this for the variety of enemy’s as one would expect from a dungeon based game. The map was good for a dungeon game and it didn’t feel like it was dragging on. The enemy’s being stationary was the only real downside for me but i am aware of how the AI for black mesa is!

I guess this was a nice one! At least it felt like a nice map to play.
A clear mission that it’s presented to you straight away at the beginning of the map, and where combat is clearly divided between the xenian enemies and the Grunts.
The combat like in many BM maps are quite linear and static, but in this map, the enemies are placed in the right and sometimes challenging positions, so you have to fight your way through them thinking in some strategic moves.
All in all is a cool BM map to have some quick combat fun.
