- Date Released: 24 January 2018
“Welcome to PTCS, a very late short story addition to the PTSD series! This was originally meant to be uploaded on Christmas, then new years eve. Sadly it got pushed further and further. But I decided to release it now finally. Hope you enjoy this silly little mod.
This is a short christmas themed mod based on the mod PTSD 1, it’s standalone so you wont need to download ptsd 1 to play. Requires ep2.
Just a small short story to hold you guys off until PTSD 2, thanks for your patience.”
Sorry, but this mod is too large to download directly into Gauge. Because RTSL is a hobby site, I need to limit the server’s resources. Sorry.
Download to your HDD [119MB]
You can still use it with Gauge once you have downloaded it.
If you require more help, please visit the Technical Help page.
- Copy the ptsd_festive folder into your …\Steam\SteamApps\common\Half-Life 2\ep2\ folder.
- Start or restart Steam
- PTCS: A Post Traumatic Christmas Special should now be listed in your LIBRARY tab.
Due to an unexpected syzygy of Alyx, Gordon and Barney, my commentary of the following video didn’t get recorded. I apologise. I said some amazing things, and it’s a real shame you can’t hear them.. I apologise. I said some amazing things, and it’s a real shame you can’t hear them. I have still uploaded the video as the combination of content style and no sound add to the surrealism!
Watch from 27:15 as I manage to break the mod!

Goodness Gosh! Where do you start in a review of a mod like this?
At the end. I don’t know whether the crash I experienced right in the last screenshot was part of the mod or not, but it worked perfectly. The sudden change quickly makes you feel like you have just woken up from a nightmare, which is what this chapter is called – Puntmas Nightmare.
The creativity here is amazing and I am sure many of you are sitting there reading this saying, “Yeah, I could do that”, but I don’t think you could.
It’s not just a collection of random stuff, bundled together into a mod. Anybody can throw paint onto a canvas but Pollock made it Art, with a capital A.
The final section is scary, not for the content itself but what it seems to represent. I truly worry about ethosaur.
This is a mod that you will either love or hate. Don’t expect a regular Ep2 mod and I highly recommend checking SOME of the screenshots if this is your first PTSD mod from the author.
Taken purely as a mod, it was fun to play but if it actually represents something deeper, then that’s even more amazing.

A bit too wacky for me, but I enjoyed your play through Philip, I actually thought it was better for not having a commentary…
Me too. Once the realism is removed, everything seems a bit pointless and contrived. Gotta admire the effort, though.
Sorry, I didn’t play this through to the end before writing this comment. Well, I played as much as I could possibly stand if I’m honest. I can see something like this appealing to many but I’m not one of them (though I kinda liked how the shotgun performed). Yeah, it’s obvious a lot of hard work went into this and I gotta respect that but the end product just isn’t doing it for me. Not my cuppa tea.
Yep, a nice FUN mod but I’ve now had as much fun as I can stand…

Well it’s unique, that’s for sure. It’s Big Lolly but on acid and speed at the same time.
I’m not really recommending this for gameplay, I’m recommending it for the odd experience. I’ve had much more fun playing this mod than most of the badly designed gun-em-down mods that have filled this summer event so far.
I don’t know if the author actually does suffer from PTSD but I do imagine the experience is kind of along the same lines somehow. This mod gets a healthy dose of holiday fun to go along with the already wacky endeavor.

A very strange mod. If you have ever been to a V.A. clinic or hospital this might look familiar.
Basically it is a simple map with re-skins and added sounds. The way it is put together is what makes it good. There is not much way to describe it. Look at the screen shots for that. Then play it.
There is not much for a repeat play, but if this sounds interesting then I think you should play it.

Delightfully twisted, just like the other PTSD mod by the same author. I thought it was really good. The only issue I had was that when I was piloting the vehicle I managed to crash into the lava and then fall out of the map.
Great revised weapons and of course the modified airboat was awesome. Who thinks of these things?

You know, for one reason or another, I really like this kind of “crazy” mods. In fact, this kind of mods I believe they are very common in HL1, and in HL2 we have some like the classic The Great Forever Tomorrow, though that one is not precisely centered around a “mental disease” condition and is more developed into this like arena bundle maps, The feeling of playing in an odd strange place is always there in the texture and some enemies.
Here I just loved how this mod breaks the mapping decency rule and just put quite a surrealistic and sometimes very scary scenario. And despite is built around the Christmas thematic, many parts are just mysterious as hell and quite scary, like the part where you are in a bathroom zone near the cafeteria is absolutely scary as hell and it seriously gave me some chill when I played it.
That makes me think that I’d love to see some Halloween-real-horror mod from ethosaur because I surely think would be scary as hell! In fact, I think that the mod is developed around a Christmas thematic makes it even scarier especially when you reach the last and the final part. You know this mod is also like 2 mods in 1 because one part is the one where you play in the Christmas maps, and the other one is the one starts when you reach the Grinch-like tower and the real schizophrenic delusion starts.
I also believe that the end as a concept is one of the best endings in the whole modding history. And I am not kidding when I say it. I mean, think! The best way to end a pretty freaked up dream or nightmare is just when you wake up from your bed at once! Yeah, you can wake up all covered in sweat and maybe screaming and with a very bad taste after you had that bad dream but you just woke up and ended it from scratch. The same happens in this little but cool mod. It seems to crash, but as a whole, that crash is part of the mod itself and is the only way the main character in the game can leave that very delusion trap where he is in.
In conclusion, I really liked this one, is a great concept and a very eerie mod to play If You just like that kind of stuff then playing this one is mandatory. I really hope a Halloween PTSD mod that would be absolutely cool to play!
