This map is inspired by the Silent Hill series. It’s not the usual type of City 17 Half-Life 2 map, so be prepared for some new!

These types of mods are very specialized and they certainly won’t appeal to all players. It’s very dark and very hard. If you enjoy these types of maps then you may enjoy this one.
If you are like me and enjoy shooting Combine in City 17 style streets, there’s a re good chance you’ll give up after 5 minutes like I did.
I only took 5 screenshots and some of those were with God< ?em> mode on.
I felt compelled to recommend Consider It because I certainly didn’t love it but feel it’s too specialized to say Avoid It!.
Is rustusp.rar meant to be extracted somewhere?
Architecture: Unique. The level has no boundary walls meaning you can literally fall off into void at every turn, it’s pretty clear that this is intentional although some may view it as a bad thing I think it deserves some praise for thinking outside the box, no pun intended.
Layout: The layout is probably quite simple but hard to follow due to the darkness. The level seems well thought though, certainly for its dark survival horror theme.
Lighting: There is none. I found a light source in the first room but after that its flashlight or bust I’m afraid -though this does fit with the theme.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere is fantastic, some very good use of sounds, enemy placement and visuals in this level. At one point I literally jumped upon hearing the roar of the ant lion guard.
Difficulty: This level is quite difficult though I found it more frustrating than actually challenging. Eventually I resorted to using no clip and god mode just so that I could explore the level without falling off the walkways at every turn.
Other notes: This is a bold design for a map and I think it has achieved what it set out to do. it’s scary, dark and probably appeals to people who like the silent hill saga. A lot of people how ever I feel wont like this map because of its core design (dark, death at every wrong turn) though I think the designer deserves some credit for making such an original style of map.
Did I play a different level or something in terms of difficulty? There’s barely any combat at all, and the walkways are big enough to make walking off a non-issue despite the darkness.
Does this level end at the graves? I would assume it does, but there’s a key that doesn’t seem to have a use that makes me think otherwise, noclip doesn’t seem to find anything (but even with fullbright the fog makes it hard to tell whether I missed something), but I better see whether someone else managed more.
The key falls apart if you pick it up.I believe the end is your grave as I see no other way to go.
Okay, of course this is a VERY special map. It has nothing to do with Half-Life 2, or any of the episodes. The map takes place in some kind of dream world, with nothing but metal and dead bodies everywhere. (If you’ve played Silent Hill, you know what I’m talking about).
If you want to spend 5 minutes of your life, looking into a black screen while killing three or four zombies. Then this is the map for you! For the rest of you…
The key didn’t fall apart at all for me, I could move it around anywhere.
The key fell apart for me.
This is a map for patient people, explorers, and horror fans.
Since I don’t like full dark mods/maps, I used fullbright almost from the get-go. With the lights on, I didn’t find this difficult at all–there were just a few enemies. Even so, I died a couple times when I was essentially pushed off the walkway (stupid poison headcrab). I think without the lights on, it would have been only slightly more difficult–all you’d have to do is take it slow and wait for the flashlight to recharge. A lot.
Really terrible. See comments above.
Perhaps there’s something I’m not seeing in this. If yes, I’ll keep my eyes closed and move on.
