In this map, you do not play as Gordon Freeman. Instead, you play as Corporal Adrian Shepherd. The G-man has released you from the stasis field you were placed in at the end of Half Life: Opposing Force and you find yourself in a section of the canals. Your mission is to figure out what the hell is going on, and survive the dangerous, unexpected situations that are constantly being thrown at you.
Along the way in your search for answers to questions you dont remember asking, you come across a small, deserted town. It almost looks as though the apocalypse had struck and you werent around to see it. You are soon reunited with your zombie friends, and have a rough understanding of what had happened in this desolate black hole. You must fight your way through darkness and insanity to stay alive, and you must escape Ravenholm to arrive at your unknown destination. What next in the parade of constant obstacles?

I erred between Play It Later and Consider It. Obviously I went for the PIL and my reasons where these:
It’s suffers from a few falwas, but not enough to make it horrible.
It has some nice atmospheric moments and the gameplay is fine, nothing fantastic, just fine.
The negatives for me were the use of air ducts; they were just silly and the general layout. Dead end roads or walkways, I am not sure what to call them. They felt “forced”. Almost as if the author wanted to include them but could get everything around them to fit.
Perhaps I am being to harsh, but there could have been a little more gameplay for the size of the map, what do you think?
5 Words Or Less Review
Not another Ravenholm map!
Not much variety. Can’t really tell you are sheppard at all.I don’t see a story forming in the part 1 of 4 or maybe I’m just not seeing it.
I’ve played this before as a series of BSPs from FPSBanana or ModDB or somewhere.
It is now a source mod but is it?
It is diabolically bad. There are the starts of some good ideas that are not expanded.
There is little game play and no problem solving at all.
The author could be a good mapper/modder but needs help with ideas and, maybe, technical assistance.
I wish I could help but mapping/modding is beyond me. I criticise as a player only.
44mB! I’ve played better mods at a tenth of the size.
Happily, I do not have a download limit. If you do – Do not bother.
I’m the mapper. I had no clue this map was actually on this site. It was somehow released before I finished it, so I don’t how the hell this happened.
Not much to this MOD, no story line, along with ammo in the wrong location’s..Perspectively speaking, it’s content’s are BORING !!
Bummer! I was really looking forward to a new mod to get into and this one is the right size. Not too small, not to long. But it sounds like it’s just not worth the time to play it. O’well –

If your a Ravenholm fan then you can get about 20min of enjoyment from this map. Not especially good, but not bad either.
Not great, not bad.
I agree about the duct placement–it was odd.
The only interesting thing was that I don’t think I’ve seen fast zombies lay on the floor waiting to be triggered before.
This was so fun! Returning to Ravenholm! Also, nice Atmosphere! Kinda puzzlish. But still very fun! To bad I think this mod never finished. The end was just walking into a building I think. Well, its been a Long time I played this level. I may be wrong. But atleast it was FUN!!!!
There are only three original, in-sequence maps to this mod. The “fourth” map – Forest – is just a ‘shoot At A Few Walkers” thing.
For more of Nathan Grove’s work, try http://www.planetphillip.com/posts/nathan-grove-compilation-half-life-2-ep2/. There you will find the “Of xxxxxxx” series of maps, eight in all, mixing these three maps in a more full story line, looking like a real mod, but that’s only a map pack go figure.

I played the mod a year ago (xp) and when I want to play the mod now (Win 8.1 and several updates from Steam later)
the mod tells me I have to update HL2 – euh… steam updates automaticly on my system!
When I hit the shortcut of the game a second time I get the message about an dll and that I have to verify the cache (what I did, but it don’t bring a solution)
Someone who can give me an advice ?
This mod seems very broken.
The first map won’t launch for me, the second spawns me outside the map and the third works fine but I have no weapons. The fourth seems to be the only one that works.
And this mod don’t want to start as well. Phillip, I corrected gameinfo.txt as you did it in VerticalVille, but unsuccessfully. I have got the Engine Error “251/ – func_wall: UTIL_SetModel: not precashed: *43” trying to load first level. Is it correctable at all?
Try using the MapTap beta, it might solve this issue for you.
Thank you. I tried to use MapTap 2.5. It became better then earlier – a backgroung image of the mod has appeared. And that’s all. The same error occurs again. And just FYI, the version number is still listed as 2.4.0-mod-support in the Help menu. As a feedback – Win 7.1 OS, Steam games update automatically. All your *Ville started fine. When I installed the original version of this mod and slightly modified the gameinfo file as wrote here http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1289845%20? – “Fixes for Episode 2 Mods” – I could play the mod but some models and textures were missing.
The MapTap beta is designed to update the gameinfo.txt, so the results should be the same as doing it manually.
It’s ok. Worth a play through.
