This map was release for a contest that could propose different scenario and scripting in the same map environment it was fun for 15 minutes of gmeplay since there are 4 different mission in the same map that shows randomly
short/grunts only/no game play/ending not clear
4 short missions/all in the same map/each one loads randomly/which is a nice touch/4 different and clear endings/not a blocky horror/author says he was part of Red Alert team:

Competition map for Valve ERC, topic “Random”.
So there are 4 maps in 1 you can say, as after a little introduction the random generator starts one of four scenarios.
They all take place in the same environment, so you can challenge yourself for doing it better than the last time as they are almost the same in any of these four missions.
Missions are assassinate a traitor, rescue Barney, plant a C4 bomb and stop a convoy.
The last two I mentioned are almost identical as you will stop the convoy via planting a bomb too automatically.
It’s fun to play as combat can be tough at first, don’t worry you start with lot of ammo and some weapons, and of course the obligatory HEV suit.
So what I like is the combat action and the mapping. The design is original and good-looking, each mission starts outside at day and you need to head in some small warehouse-like area to accomplish each mission.
There are some details and the lighting is nice. Layouts and architecture are pretty.
Another good feature are the different tiny cutscenes after successfully finishing each mission.
You will also encounter one and the same script which can be a threat at first.
The AI of the enemies are good, soldiers throw grenades and chase you once they spotted you.
But once I saw a grunt throwing a grenade at me from far away and another grunt was coming close to shoot me, and directly stood where the grenade landed 😉
However, it’s very short fun and worth a look, just don’t expect anything “big” or special.
Ideal for a coffee break 😉

Operation Randomosity was made for a Valve ERC contest where the goal was randomized gameplay. Thus this map has re-playability with four random generations.
Each of these four distinct gameplay modes takes place in the same map and not in separate ones, unfortunately. But this one map’s design is broken down into four pieces, each one separately accessible in a certain mission. The four missions include infiltration, assassination, rescue, and search-and-destroy. Each mission’s gameplay couldn’t be simpler due to the smallness and simpleness of the map. The lack of length and depth is, however, made up for through the quality construction of the map – good attention to detail and very neat work all around. At the same time, the combat is fairly enjoyable, consisting of only Marines, but still well-staged.
It may be short, and the gameplay rather shallow, but Operation Randomosity clearly has some enjoyable gameplay, especially considering its randomized goals. If this is any indication, the author’s upcoming map pack Red Alert may prove to be a good one.

This is quite a fun little map by none other than James Cockburn aka Mr.Gnang of Half-Life: Echoes fame!? I hadn’t realised that he had been around for so long, but here we are.
Anyway, this map has a nice interesting little gimmick in that you get one of four objectives selected at random. The player is then teleported to a small outdoor area and is tasked with infiltrating a small facility. Depending on your objective depends on what you do once inside, but honestly the only thing that changes is the outro cutscene.
Still an impressive little setup, especially from a 15 year old map designer at the time! Check this one out.

I thought exactly the same (hey it’s MrGnang!!) when I updated the Ten Four review a few days back. Good to see some people stick with HL for so long.
Sometimes you need to reload the screen several times so it gives a different mission. And it shouldn’t start from mission 1, it can start even from mission 4. It is like a real random generaton upon loading the screen. I think same system is applied when military wins vortgaunt or viceversa. When loading, battles are generated randomly. Maybe he used the same system so the RNG pick up the mission aleatory. Still, not many reloads are required anyway.
