Partially inspired by DoorVille, Operation: F.O.R.C.C. (Fleshing Out Restricted Corridors Competition) asked entrants to imagine – and build – what lies beyond inaccessible boundaries in any game (not just restricted to Half-Life or even Valve games!).

- Date Released: 2 May 2023
- Make sure you have the Upcoming branch of the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer installed in Steam and run at least once. (Properties – Betas – select upcoming from the dropdown list).
- Copy the operation_forcc, mapbase_shared, mapbase_hl2, and mapbase_episodic folders into your SourceMods folder.
- Restart or start Steam.
- Operation F.O.R.C.C. should now be listed in your Library tab.

Well first of all I have to say that, after sadly having RTSL dot com down for several weeks, I’m glad this fantastic site is back on track, as it is a regular visit site for any Half-Life Lover in the world, so having this important site down is like turn off the lights in our lives a bit.
Now about this Map Lab, I have to say it was fantastic. The whole concept was truly well developed in many entries, and I just love most of them, especially the Cold Hard Stele one, wow, that was a blast! and the most hardcore ever released.
I also loved The Prodigy and I just cracked a big laugh combat against that Gargantua having Ant Lion Moma behavior it just made me LMAO but it was a great entry!
The one with the Office from the CSS maps was also fantastic and I loved that slow-mo pace that made it feel like you were on a Die Hard Movie or something.
But, for me, the best entry was the Portal one, wow, was amazing to see how GLADoS just k*ll everyone in there, so having that story moded turns it into a Must Play for any HL/Portal passionate.
The rest also were OK and probably not that best as the prior I mentioned,

PD. I’ll stop the map labs playing and reviews, until I finish 2 awesome Steam-based HL2 mods: “Snowdrop Escape” and “Swelter”, which just hooked me up totally, and I hope Unq would also give them a space here in RTSL so we can review them and discuss about them, as are big news in the HL2 modding scene these days.
Its a great maps. I missed out like 2 maps cuz it instantly crashed my Gmod when I run it. But still:)

This one was mostly oriented to combat with no low quality map but on the other side no exceptional maps neither even if I consider two of them as wow it was relativly fun in term of gameplay but lack a little of design

Great concept and interesting gameplay through a sort of city 17, didn’t directly figure out that you could take most of the object to trow them it, was well
balance an really fun to play through
Playtime: 10 minutes
A straight forward progression some small puzzle an combats. Design is ok in a sort of post appocalyptic world
Playtime: 11 minutes
A combat oriented map with some small puzzle it’s more like an arena map, fun and not too challenging
Playtime: 16 minutes
Also more oriented gameplay map with a final arena/wave experience a little challenging but not frustrating
Playtime: 30 minutes
Didn’t finish this one a sort of citadel experience with a ‘new’ boss and lots of traps and challenging gameplay first arena was ok second one was too challenging

Interesting one some puzzle to solve, try and find to progress gameplay, minor combats the concept and interaction was cool was really fun to play trough

A sort of total conversion like beefbacon seems to be a great specialist. It was intense, highly challenging especially the last arena before escaping
in term of original design, gameplay and challenge this one was perfect

Great design from start but sadly we won’t go to what we see, challenge is one time more oriented to and arena map with a sort of abrupt gameplay ending

This one was certainly my favorite, there was no fight it’s start like a exploration map with really atmospheric ambiance and great eyes looking design. After it will
be an escape/run concept. The experience was really great and fits the original Half-life 2 theme with the power of AI perhaps a little too short experience

Mostly straigh forward gameplay with some snow, some good idea and combats well oriented an honestly enjoyable one
Playtime: 35 minutes
A Half-life oriented realease in a classic half-life 1 mood, enjoyable and well design with good balance between interaction and fights found the end boss fight too challenging
and frustrating

Another oriented fight map with a arena map experience close after the start it was enjoyable but had nothing special it’s quite repetitive you enter a zone fight to progress
and go to the next zone until the end boss zone and that’s it
Playtime: 20 minutes
In term of combat and gameplay this one was fearly enjoyable the design was a little boxy and perhaps a little too hallways oriented there was some small puzzle to a descent end boss fight
Playtime: 3 minutes
You are part of a combine squad and your send to rescue the manager of an office it’s quite short not really challenging and kill to progress to find the manager
nothing really special but all in all it’s ok
If you like fighting then this collection of 15 is defenetly for you
