    Think Twice

No game here just killing all in two large rooms.

  3. Avoid It!

Simple single, cubic map filled with all sort of weapons and ammo at the starting point in one end and with soldiers, aliens in the other end. Kill all, that’s it. Boring.

    Pro’s:
-Every HL weapon and lot of ammo
-Barneys who can help, but not needed

    Con’s:
    -Very short
-Ultra simple map design, no details – nothing special at all (everyone could do)
    -Stupid AI
-No story, puzzles – nothing like that
    -Balancing
    -No flair

  4. Ten Four Reviews

This is quite possibly the worst Half-Life level I’ve ever seen. It consists of a very large, long room connected to another, smaller room by a large rectangular hole. You start at the end of the large room furthest from the hole alongside some Barneys, a couple of GMen (why?) and a huge selection of weaponry. At the other end of the room is the largest collection of marines I have ever seen, plus a few assassins. In the smaller room is a large collection of aliens. I’m not even going bother with a paragraphs to explain why this level is so bad:

    • Framerates are abysmal. I got framerates of about 4 (and I have a good PC) making it almost impossible to aim.
    • There is an insane number of marines, and there is practically no cover.
    • Despite the vast number of foes the level is still incredibly easy, thanks to the huge selection of weapons available (see the right-hand screenshot). All you need to do is pick up one of several Egons and use it like a hose to gib every single enemy with ease. That’s assuming you get a framerate high enough so you can aim.
    • The architecture is crap (no other description will fit). Most of it consists of big flat, boring walls. The lighting is rubbish. The only textures that are properly aligned are ones that can’t be misaligned. There are holes leading outside of the level and other visual errors.
    • There is even a Gonarch stuffed into a space to small for it, just to provide even more annoyance.
    • There’s no end, plot or direction. Nothing of any interest at all in fact.
    • Some objects haven’t even been put on the ground – most notably a pair of sentry guns (placed where they can annoy you most).

This level goes wrong in ways I didn’t think possible. My recommendation is that each and every copy of this level should be hunted down and destroyed. There is absolutely nothing good to say about it. No thought has been given to item or enemy placement, balance, framerates, construction, plot or how fun this level is to play. It’s so bad it isn’t even funny. If for some reason you are considering downloading this, go and do something else – anything is better than this.

  5. Unq

As Chris mentions in the Ten Four review above, this is solidly in the running for worst Half-Life map ever. I tend to think Rum beats it out, though.

This map is just a killbox, and a poor one at that.

The author’s notes say the map was made in a few hours. I can’t conceive of why it possibly took that long.

  6. Think Twice

This is the best Mod I ever played in my life. Any welcome player can complete this in just 3 minutes on Hard. No Joke. No training required. Free tickets for anyone who wants too. You just shoot Gluon Gun like hell of machine gun and you are victorious. Just go and do it. It’s for all public.
