Some scientists and security guards escaped the Black Mesa complex. Knowing the Administrator lived nearby in an outlying bunker complex, they decided to take him out. You only heard about their plans later and have to catch up to them. You also have the codes to access the Administrator’s complex. Contact with the scientists has been lost, it is now up to you.

Having played this game many years ago I can remember it not having a workable save/load system, such that I spent loads of time seeing how far I could progress. Don’t think I ever finished this way, but did finish it by cheats and it’s a pity because otherwise it’s a good little mod. But as it stands could not recommend it.
Okay, this was nearly a WOW from me but only because of a BUG! No matter what I tried, I couldn’t get it to load a save. This meant that every time I died I had to start from the beginning.
The initial effect was one of annoyance, but that quickly turned to motivation – “I am going to beat this damn mod, no matter what!”.
Well, careful use of ammo and sneaking around finally paid off and I did actually beat it without cheating. That said, I did try cheating and couldn’t. If you can’t load a game you can’t turn on SV-CHEATS 1.
Anyway, the map is complicated enough not to seem linear but limited enough not to get too lost.
You will need to get into the security office to press the button that opens the red door at the top of the building and then go down. I killed everything, including all the turrets, except the two you can turn off and spent a lot of time on 1 health point.
It’s not pretty, it’s not amazing, but it is a challenge.
Actually you can. As soon as you load the game via the steam library type sv_cheats 1 in console and then start your game. This doesn’t seem to work if you have already started a game before this however.
Interesting, thanks for correcting me.
Another way is in Steam, to right click the mod, choose Properties, and Set Launch Options. Then add: +sv_cheats 1
This should work whether or not you’ve already started a game. I had no trouble with this pack, either with loading games or with cheats (I only used it after I completed the map to make sure there was nothing through the big door you see near the start point).
And what about the master chating code: -dev -console -nojoy -noipx, I even learn that by memory, u put that code on console advanced options, and u can put cheats everytime everymap!
We start in a room with Hummer prefab and few crates. The lights hang in the air. The way forward is protected by turrets, so we have to either crawl through the ventilation or run past them. Then there will be very hard fight with soldiers in rectangular rooms and corridors with monotonous white walls and prefabs. Sometimes we encounter unrealistic lighting and texture seams.
It’s not possible to load a saved game, the doors might hum instead of opening, it’s possible to swim in the sky like in water.
At the end we’ll come to G-Man, who is protected by Alien Grunts. After shooting him, we’ll see a slapdash ending: the screen fades off for few seconds and then we continue playing.
The non-linearity is good when there’s an interesting location to explore, which is not the case here.
Conclusion: slapdash map. Yes, it’s challenging, but nothing more that that.
I played this mod twice, my first thought was “Avoid It” and my second thought was “Personal Favourite.”
I played this through the first time with god enabled because I thought it was going to be a pretty long mod, and I was really unimpressed by the load “glitch” that this was going to be an “Avoid It”, but however I gave it another chance without cheats because I think that the author wanted the user not to load their save. It’s hard but certainly possible.
If you want to play this normally then play it with cheats first.
Unfortunately the only thing I liked about No Regret was the challenge. It’s just a shoot-em-up, and at least the layout is nonlinear so you can really choose your own approach.
The good thing about the mapping is the layout. No Regret takes place in a claustrophobic base, and your mission is to find the G-man. That’s all the story or setup you’re going to get. The base is chock full of grunts on the main floor, and aliens on other floors. The key to beating this map is to be very careful in your approach. If you explore a bit you’ll be pretty well-armed early on.
Beyond the layout, the mapping is very boxy and bland, and full of HL prefabs. You can tell this is a “first map.” The lighting is pretty poor and tends to make things look ugly. I didn’t even get the punchline “No regrets, Mr. Freeman” from the G-man at the end, it just faded to black for me.
It’s good for a one-map early Half-Life shoot-em-up but overall I didn’t find it very worthwhile. This author went on to release much better packs (particularly for Opposing Force).
Yes it’s possible without cheats, but it’s not fun. Without being able to use saves you need a lot of patience which is not justified by the length of the mod!
Playing a second time and in ” GODMODE” this was 10 minutes at most and still no fun. Lets not forget this is just a game, so using saves would have maybe for me made it a PIL but its not that good.
The look and feel of this was another Lego offering with a go through door kill grunts/Xenizens/zombies/etc. I’d like to find something charitable to say and the only thing I can think of is, I don’t have the technical knowledge to make a mod let alone this boring. Only because I couldn’t do this does it miss an AI.
The mod however is well named, I REGRET playing it.
It seems that the author did not think about modification as a mapping, simply draw of stuff, many textures and decals, especially enemies but had not thought about the detail. Mapping the cubic and often, the textures are shown wrong. The purpose of modification is not needed, just a dull shooting walking, running and jumping. Moreover, in such quantities that it is simply impossible to play, because they want to bang a lot. In the end we just bring down Mr. Maine, as I called him. That’s the whole process.
Bearing in mind that this is an old mod, he can be forgiven much.
This is one of the first custom maps I’ve ever played for Half-Life. I can see the pepsi vending machine from Prefabland in the shots.
Ohh here we have CHALLENGE!, I liked that and I don’t know if cut the savings was intended on purpose, I mean to encourage the player to beat the map without any save but only their mighty combat skills, this mod is perfect to improve ur combat strategies and don’t depend too much on f6, I know that maybe no saves allowed for 1 map is ok, and the perfect lenght of this mod makes that cool, but for more maps i’don’t really know if I could stand it adn maybe I could end up hate it, but so far I think PL, is a fair rate because is fun and entretaining play challenge and I think it also worth the effort.
Not allowing saves wasn’t intentional. The save and load functions worked fine for me. I suspect it has something to do with the ‘save” folder under the noregret folder – if it exists, try deleting the save folder and see if that works.
Oh ok, yeah I suspect it also was not intentional, anyway playing without saves was ok for me but just for 1 map, thanks for the clue i’ll figure out whats wrong with that folder.
What started interesting results into a wave of flaws, what a pity!
You’re in a single building, which is piled up with tricky obstacles, such as soldiers, aliens and sentry guns / turrets. Therefore watch your step approaching into a new room or area.
The mission here is to find the administrator and shoot him.
Pro’s:
-Non-linear, you choose which way to go at all times
-Quite good mapping, lighting – loveful placed details (for example the kitchen)
-Challenging combat, careful approaching with well-chosen tactics required
-Good balanced, maybe a little bit hard at start
-Atmosphere somehow
Con’s:
-Surely too hard for rookies / haters of gruntfests
-(Quick)load did not work
-No clipping at roof, fell in water (???) / getting stuck —> restart whole map as quickload fails
-Short playtime
-No puzzles, no real story
-Sometimes stupid AI, just standing around
-Mean enemy placement
-Less variation in combat
There are two things I liked about this level: The poster of a girl with huge bonkers (not nude), and the G-man at the end that goes “no regrets” before you shoot him. Unfortunately, neither had anything to do with the author’s actual talents, which seem to be pretty low with this release at least.
If it weren’t for prefabs, I don’t even want to think how awful this map would look. The design is very cramped, poorly textured and poorly lit four wall rooms with some prefabs in them. There are a few exceptions to this, but all in all, the visuals were not even close to par with texture misalignements and weird lighting that were very obvious.
The gameplay was hard alright, in fact, near-impossible. I might’ve struggled with this in hard-mode had the visuals given me a reason to, but because the rest of No Regrets was so drab, I admit to using god-mode when I became too frustrated. The problem in the balance was not the items, it was the fact that the rooms are so damn cramped. I received a RPG in the level, but there was very few places to fire it without getting killed. Manuevering from enemy fire mostly involves backtracking to other rooms in a game of cat and mouse and that’s not very fun.
Layout appeared pretty random just like the rest of No Regrets. The level just had no detectable theme and everything appeared very messy and like the works of a fledgling. The author here needs a lot more practice before he can release a recommendable level.

This is not my kind of liking.
The story, I don’t know.
The combat was really dumb as you star with a rifle and 25 bullets and that’s it.
I didn’t feel like writing more, I just didn’t like it.
If you like it, that’s fine.
There’s no SAVES in the game. So never play on Hard. Maybe it’s possible but one scre up and you have to repeat all over again like in old NES game. Not worth the time. Besides of this that stupid vent is completly useless. Any exit you take nothing good happens. The front gate proved to be more efficient. Then try to go to the basement for equipment. From there we’ve got a ladder to a health station. Still all these items are not enough. It’s not even woith to memorize everything and I found everything boxy except the upper floor.
