  1. Phillip says Play It!

There’s a lot going for this little mod: nice lighting, interesting colour scheme, new textures, complex layout. The problem is that it’s just so freaking hard.

I’m not a big fan of never-ending enemies but that’s often used to cover bad design. I honestly believe this would have been just as good with a fixed number.

I managed to “complete” it without cheating, although I don’t know if these is a proper end. I didn’t get outside, but I don’t think you are supposed to.

Proper ending and fixed enemies would have made this a great level, as it was it’s just very good.

Play it, but expect to reload a LOT!

  2. Avoid It!

    WTF was that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the outset never ending enemies and that was all there was, you start at the top of some stairs with enemies below, you lob a grenade down and more drop out of nowhere! Another grenade and more spawning, OK switch on God mode and crowbar the enemy and still they spawn (to quote H.G Wells War of the Worlds “and still they come”). This for me was NO FUN, despite it looking good.

  3. Avoid It!

The never-ending enemies made this no fun for me at all. I got to all the areas but couldn’t find any kind of ending, so I don’t know if I missed something. It does have a nice look to it but you don’t get to explore at all because of the stupid respawning. Not worth your time.

  4. Think Twice

Ah! Phillip again you’re one step ahead of me. That’s the 4th mod I had in a pack ready for you but you already posted about it.. Well I still have several others you don’t have or know about. 😛 Expect a new E-mail soon. 😀

As for this mod here. I completely agree with Phillips first statement. This would have been actually nice if it was with prefixed monsters or less monsters… I didn’t even manage to get into the third room as dozens of headcrabs and Zombies spawned right in front of me in the second room. Another annoying thing in here: In the second you kill a group of monsters a new wave with exact same numbers of monsters is spawning in again.

I don’t really see the fun here and it’s a huge shame as the mapping is really great in this 1 level mod. The textures are fresh and in high quality. Well play it only to see the map and maybe to get 3 minutes of fun with god mode.

    Avoid It!

I just have few words to say in this, I mean it was horrible, yeah nice textures, almost like if were a cool Sveen Co-Op map but even there there are alot better quality than this one, lame or so bad done releases shouldnt be released sorry but I conssider this kind of realises as irrisponsibles attitudes from the modders, dont work on something bad and then offer that to the community please!!

  6. 2muchvideogames

Yeah, that bunch of monster spawns easily piss most people off. I think it took me like 3 tries to get past that first room. After that I see a nicely designed military base with a noticeably challenging platoon of soldiers. Well so much for that, there are more endless spawning aliens. Coupled with a lack of an ending and you have an inappropriately difficult and nonsense map. Otherwise this would make a good map, you know.

  7. Maybe?

I liked this mod until that moment when all grunts were killed 🙂 . After that you have nothing good to do. But mapping here still very good, so try to kill all grunts at least before leaving.

    Think Twice

Ugh, this hits so many negatives for me that it’s hard to give it more than an Avoid It rating. No goal, no ending, infinitely spawning aliens, etc. It too took me several tries to get past the first encounter, but from there on you can play more carefully and have a good chance of surviving. However, there’s no discernible point to this map – there seems to be no exit and you’re just left going around in circles killing the spawning aliens.

The only positives? It’s decently mapped and thus pretty nice to look at, and it’s certainly challenging. Otherwise I wouldn’t give it the time of day.

  9. Think Twice

This is no ordinary map. More like a survival training as the aliens are keeping endlessly respawned at some places, which can make it tough but also can cause the game to crash.
There are also some soldiers who don’t respawn once dead.

According to the readme it’s a rebuild of a “Counter Strike” DM map, but I don’t know this as I never played CS much except a few LAN games long time ago.
The map itself looks very nice as it gots new textures and details, good layout and awesome lighting.
I only wish this pretty nifty design would have been used for a more a serious mod or map.

You run around in only one larger building with several rooms and quite many locked doors only killing everything what stands in your way.
I couldn’t find an exit as one door which seemed to be the exit didn’t open totally.
Now I even doubt there’s and end in this map. Proof me wrong anybody?

It’s very tough to play at some spots because there was even one more place aliens kept respawning than at the start, so I did cheat a bit just to check out if something else happens.
At least there’s sort of much ammo with respawning ammo boxes for the AR.
Other weapons available are the shotgun, crowbar, normal grenades and rare contact grenades for the AR.

Not really fun at all and the great graphics can’t save it, sorry!
Just not my type of game.

Note: Play on easy! You won’t regret it lol

    Playtime: 10 minutes

  10. Think Twice

I saw this mod and I thought it would be great, especially with Phillip giving a Play It Now recommendation. Though, imo, this was not the case.

I will be honest with you, I have never finished this mod, even if the rules say so. Why? Because I can’t. Call me a noob or something but seriously, I couldn’t take it. I mean, it’s not one of the worst mods I’ve ever played, but it could have been SO much better.

First thing you do is you simply get a crowbar and next to you, you see the only good thing about this mod, the nice textures. But then you walk on the staircase, and suddenly a bunch of enemies started attacking you! And the grenades are under the stairs, but even if you kill them, you’ll see that they will respawn, which is SADDISTIC.

Also, I would add an Avoid It recommendation, but then again, I can’t because I never made any progress.

One thing left to say: dommage.

    1. especially with Phillip giving a Play It Now recommendation. Though, imo, this was not the case.

Looking at all the other recommendations makes me wonder if we played the same mod or maybe I was drugged with cough syrup or something!
