I recommend you play this but I didn’t particularly enjoy it. Why? Because it’s about surviving and I don’t really like that sort of gameplay style.
The level and layout is well done but probably could do with a little more optimization.
The gameplay is standard “throw stuff at the zombies”, which isn’t exactly exciting any more.
With more hordes and less zombies in each wave it might have been more interesting.
Make sure you take your time to prepare as this can make it more fun.
I recommend playing on a higher difficulty than you normally do.
I challenge you to do it without using the exploding barrels.
5 Word Review
Not enough gameplay variety< /em>
I guess we’re stuck for stuff to play then ? I knew this would happen.
Play it before you think too negatively.
This map isn’t fantastic unfortunately, which is a shame because it’s clear the mapper has some talent with the editor. The map itself doesn’t look horrid. It’s an area that if you entered it in a larger mod you would find it an engaging area to play in.
Also, everything works in the map (i.e. lifts, buttons etc…) so that’s a plus point.
Where this map falls down is the gameplay and the enemies. The zombies wander through the doors without any direction. The simple addition of an ai_scriptedschedule telling the zombies to head straight for the player would have saved this map in my opinion. That would have put the player under considerable pressure and made this map a fun panic defense game.
I was able to clean out all three waves of zombies without losing a single health point, it’s way too easy to be any fun unfortuantely.
I also would have added some stairs connecting the higher level to the lower giving the player the option of heading back upstairs as they were fighting.
I’d recommend that the mapper submits his map to the beta testing team on this website to ensure his good mapping work doesn’t go to waste on poor gameplay in future…
Please keep on mapping.. looking forward to future, better maps!
This was a quick short, neat map, that would come very well fitted in the Grav gun competition, I know this maybe is not challenging at all, but is nice to see father gregory againand his usual shootgun style.
I conssider worths the effort because you can play this perfectly latter, and is perfect to rest after the long marathon G-String mod brings.
So come on and try it.
This is a fantastic horde style map. Every now and than I like lining up zombies and shooting a circular saw at them in a row… my closed captioning goes NUTS with the amount of “zombie slice” announcements. It’s so fulfilling.
I felt the actual combat took a while to get started. I was a little upset about that. Too much jumping through mounds of props just to turn on a generator.
I have to say though, more maps should feature gregory, he’s an excellent addition and his voice acting is awesome.
Overall I really did have fun with the horde system… a little too easy though.
