I have repackaged this release as a mod. In addition, it is set to use the SDK 2013 Base Singleplayer engine. I have done this as it means that Half-Life 2 is required. Which means that ANYBODY with a Steam account can play this. If you do not wish to install the SDK, then you can download the file and simply copy the “NOAMZ” map into your Half-Life 2 maps fodler and it should work.

- Make sure you have the “Upcoming” branch of the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer installed in Steam and run at least once. (Properties – Betas – select “upcoming” from the dropdown list).
- Copy the noamz-original folder into your …\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods\ folder.

Design is ok…but if the only interest is to find some weapon to kill spawned zombies with any end (just look till where you can go -kill counter- till you die) then it has no real interest

This was fun. And, a quick trip to the mod’s homepage brings good news that a new NOAMZ is in the works. But this is the one here now, so I’ll get on with it. You are placed in a deserted, defunct, town that oozes Ravenholm in some ways. Once suited up, I would advise running around and figuring out the map before you start killing the zombies. This will help you immensely later in the game. You start with the pre-requisite crowbar, everything else must be discovered (one reason to run around before killing). The weapons are all there, it just might take some creative thinking to get them. Or, you could always cheat and bring up the console, (which was a lot of fun), but that takes some of the fun away. To start the game, you bring up the console at the Half-Life 2 menu, and type ‘map NOAMZ’, and you’re in. When you kill your first zombie, it might as well be your last, because by “checkpoint” 19 or so, you should have killed close to 1 million (yeah 1,000,000) zombies.
I’ve been told this mod reminds people of Resident Evil (I’ve never played RE, so I don’t know), but I do know that there are hordes of zombies coming at you. Fortunately, possibly unfortunately, there are no fast-moving crazy zombies, it’s only the slow, hunched, deformed citizen ones. By the end of the onslaught though, it doesn’t make a difference. There are simply so many that their sheer number makes up for the slow movement. Placed around the map, are various traps, like sawblades, explosive canisters and the like, plus you can always make a fort with the boxes and fend off the invaders.
The fun does have some drawbacks though. For one, I thought the map was very dark. I understand the reasoning behind it though. I mean, its kinda hard to be suspenseful and scary in the sunlight. There are lights around, and you could stay in them, but that wouldn’t be too much fun. Second, there isn’t any new content such as textures, models, or weapons. The next NOAMZ in development will have some new textures, but for now, everything is stock Half-Life 2.
Overall, I would recommend this mod to everyone. Everyone can enjoy killing zombies, and if co-op multiplayer support was implemented, you would certainly have a kick-ass time!

Well, I had a bit of fun with this. The key is to find the weapons and there is a gravity gun here.
What I think the author did really well was but items that can be used by the zombies in the same place as the ammo. That way there is a balance when you try to collect items.
It’s the perfect map for just opening up and killing some zombies for fun – no story, no objective, no fuss.
Got play it for some fun.

So, I’m not a huge fan of arena maps, and usually I don’t play them for more than 5 minutes, but in this case, I got 244 kills before shutting the game off because I was bored. I think that’s enough.
This map/mod is not bad. The mapping isn’t great, but it’s not terrible either; it’s good for an arena map though. There’s some ways to defeat zombies quicker, with hidden explosive barrels and such, but if you wanna use your shotgun only, you can do that too. There’s also supposedly a gravity gun somewhere, but I couldn’t get it.
Honestly, I don’t think I have anything more to say. If you like arena maps, give this one a try, but if not, then give it a pass.

So this is an earlier map from the same mapper who made the Waterfront version. All there is to do is wander around killing infinite zombies. This is not as interesting as the Waterfront version even though the gameplay is more or less the same.
I had trouble finding weapons I assumed were in the map, namely the RPG and the gravity gun. The ammo is spread out but the map is totally unremarkable. The architecture is boring and there are no landmarks to help with finding your way around.
One of the most frustrating parts is that the map is really dark, and this seems to run under HL2 code, so your flashlight power is tied to your sprint reserve.

Geesh! I don’t know why zombie arenas should be a fun idea. This is certainly not. Maybe if you like to do some exploring and feel the pressure of literally a million zombies in your back this could be suitable for you.
Also, I could see the spawning point of the zombie swarm, and even I know that’s a capital sin when modding.
Just avoid this.

Didn’t enjoy it.
This map has a lot of potential.. if it were designed for walkthrough. It takes place in some ravenholm styled dark town. It has no ambient or even random sounds which is a big flaw. The gameplay is boring and has no point. An endless waves of classic zombies. There’s a few weapons scattered across the map but a lot of them are hidden in hard to reach spots. It has an unique addition — kill count. I can’ say much about gameplay because it’s just boring and pointless. It would be a lot better if it was used for “Ravenholm ClockTower” styled walkthrough map. Otherwise I can’t recommend it for anyone.
