I can’t tell you much about this mod except that it is supposed to be a leak. There are some levels from the E3 demonstration and plenty of levels I haven’t seen before.
What content there is in this mod is very similar (almost identical) to the Library of Leaks mod which is based on the pre-release HL2 Beta files leaked/hacked from Valve. The HL2 Beta files were than acquired by the Missing Information team, and were then in turn leaked/hacked from them to the Lost Concept Dev team. However, unlike the Missing Information team, who went on to make something worthwhile out of those files, the Lost Concept team did virtually nothing to the original files so that this ‘mod’ is little more than a collection of Valve’s prototype development maps, crude and incomplete, literally concept models.
There is very little to do in the majority of the maps, which are very basic and blocky. Occasionally there’s a few seconds of firefight with some developmental Combine, but not much more in the way of interaction.
This ‘mod’ is presented more as a curiosity than something which should be played; it would have had much more relevance at the time HL2 was in development, but as it stands it is barely recognizable from the finished product.
I should have played every level and noted which screenshots are related to which level but to be honest, I got bored and quit. At the time of the original post, the Mod’s development team requested that the download be removed as they were still working on it. However four years have now passed and it is reasonable to assume the Mod is dead (the homepage has expired) so I have allowed downloads again.

As I said in the description I should have taken a more methodical approach to playing this mod but after I played after 10 maps I stopped and then played again at various times during the week. For that I apologize.
Ideally I should have listed each map, with a brief description and some screeshots.
Overall it’s a waste of time but there are a few nice levels worth playing and I’m pretty sure I didn’t play them all.
The ones I enjoyed are: c17_test_new_fixed, e3_under_02,, proto_bridge and . The last being only for atmosphere. If it had sound effects and music it would be very scary.
If you play this you willl need to load each map manually but remember it was never suppsoed to be relased in this form.
Most of the maps I played didn’t even have any combat, so be warned.
5 Words Or Less Review
Too much like hard work!
What is this? It looks like someone tried to fake a HL2 leak release or something. Much of the content isn’t Valve quality at all, I can easily tell its fake, but some of the maps are very much real leak maps, but changed in some mysterious ways, with new content that doesn’t look Valve-made at all. And all the broken textures? To be honest, it looks like a fake something. If you are interesting in leak-E3 material, I’d play Missing Information instead.
Some of the mapping I haven’t seen before looks interesting though, but most looks like someone with a few weeks of Hammer experience tried to put something very quickly together. Screenshot 72 through 76 looks interesting though, they seem to have been made with some skill and present some interesting visuals, but who made them is the largest question, I don’t remember seeing these maps in any of the leak content I have seen.
Awful. A pile of rotting fish. Carp – think anagram – you have it; PARC.
If you try this, you will become suicidal. I’m off to jump off a tall bridge.
Did you try the maps I suggested in my comment?
Caught me just before jumping! Went back and played every BSP, even those not listed in the map list.
While I have not changed my mind overall, I did find map D2_PRISON_06_retail
entertaining. A gem of an oasis in a desert of garbage.
Sorry, forgot.
Yes I did play your suggestions.
I think this might be the first Zip file (From PP) that I’ve not managed to open with 7-Zip, does anyone have any (free) suggestions as to which file extractor I ought to be using instead…?
I used winrar to compress it. I don’t know why it wouldn’t open with 7-Zip. Try Winrar or ALZip ( http://www.altools.net/)
Thanks Philip, tried Winrar & it said that nine of the files & headers were corrupt. guess that means I’ll have to re-download it from another server…..(Got it from Filecloud that time)
Try repairing it. I included a recovery record.
no. just. no.
Hmm… I haven’t seen these models or maps before.
I’m not even sure if they’ve been mentioned before.
@Sortie and everyone else-All of the maps conatined in this ‘mod” come from the WC Mappack, which was released alongside the leak in 2003. It is a Huge file that contains all of Valves maps up to the leak , therefore they are maps that were originally made by valve, just never finished. So it is all 100% genuine, not a fake.If you doubt this, do a little research. Go to aperturegaming.com or talk to Team GabeN. Or you could email valve themselves, if youre feeling ambitious. The mod is obviously nowhere near finished, hence DEV4, DUMMIES!
The unfinished maps are starting to look good and have great potential.
Twaddle, 99d is how your comment reads to me. Or are you having a laugh but I have not seen the joke yet?
aperturegaming.com takes you to a page with another internet address which does not work.
I could not find anything worthwhile at Team GabeN
‘the unfinished maps are starting to look good and have great potential.” Since 2003! I’ll not hold my breath then.
Besides “unfinished’, they have barely been started!
On reflection, you must be joking, please say you are.
Hardly any work put into it. This is what happens with straight ports. And people say we didn’t put any work into Missing Information. Psh.
Looks to me very much a collection of works in progress — some of the maps look like scenes from the official game, but with bits missing.
I played every map listed in MAPS * and really I think there are only two that are playable (street and bridge I think).
The rest? not worth the effort.
@Jasper
The sites are down at the moment, apeturegaming is also moving. And you wouldn’t find anything at Team gaben’s site because you don’t have access to the required information.
“This mod is still in development and an updated release will be made available.” Well… I’m kinda unsure, that this will ever get released…
I think you are right, this is pretty much dead.
