Starting on the edge of a small train depot, you must fight your way through and across the buildings and trains.
Expect fierce resistance from all angles.
If you can reach a particular train roof, you may be able to escape.
Good Luck!

This is quite a nice little map. I can’t find too much fault with it, except for the ending which didn’t quite work for me.
The author has done a good job of attacking the player from many angles and sides.
Some areas are not open enough but it only happened once or twice.
All in all a fun 15 minute playthrough.

Well, I really enjoyed this little map.
There’s not much to it I guess. I like the combat and the atmosphere, but that’s pretty much it. It’s not anything original or breathtaking, but if you enjoy these kind of maps then you should have no problem with it.
The only bad thing I could think is that it’s a bit too restricted but I shouldn’t bargain about it.
Overall, if you want to play something short and sweet, then this is for you.
What do I say? It’s a really short map. That’s mainly why i give it the “play it later” rating. I agree with TolisXTRM, there’s nothing really original about and it was pretty linear. The only thing that I thought was kinda cool was the fact that the center train is the one that you escape on. Most of HL2’s maps are pretty static, so that surprised me. It felt like the author wanted to create a chase sequence, but I only really got that feeling toward the end. I think the reason for that is the fact that the music is the only thing that supports the chase sequence. Mos to of the enemies spawn once, and then your done. Valve manages to continue the atmosphere of the chase through the use of soundscapes and background elements, like scanners and helicopters. You never really get that in this map. The gameplay was good, though. I could nitpick all day about cops and soldiers working to gather, and elites using smgs, but I gotta say they were used to good effect. So, if it’s a rainy day, or you want that HL itch scratched, this is the map for you.
P.S. Put fog in your maps, people!

oops, forgot my demo:

this is a nice map with many similarities to the end of “red letter day” were gordon has to work his way through the trains after receiving the crowbar from barney …. it works well and does not take too much from the original setting
when i was in the army we used to call this “CQB” or close quarter battle … and you need to be on your toes at all time with cqb ….. its ok when you can see the enemy coming towards you or from the side but in such close quarters the enemy can come from all area,s
nick has done a good job with such a small map area …. its a shame its so small as i was just starting to enjoy the map when it finished … but good map !

Not a whole lot to say about this one. It’s a short, reasonably entertaining trip through a railyard whilst being attacked by various Combine soldiers. It looks nice and plays fairly well, although there was a part where avoiding an exploding barrel was a bit too challenging. The level also ends suddenly and without much fanfare. It feels like it could have been part of a larger chapter, but it doesn’t quite stand up on its own due to its length and lack of variety.
Also, the sound could have used some work. As near as I could tell, there was no soundscape in the background and the music permanently loops. A few other ambient effects and even some ending text could have also gone a long way.
As a side note, the author does a good job of constraining the weapons at your disposal rather than trying to upgrade you as quickly as possible, which is a problem a lot of small maps have.

Nicely done little map! Took me a minute or two to figure out where the broken fencing was to get to the next section, since you can’t climb over the fence. And LOL Combine soldiers blowing themselves up. You’d think they would be more careful 😀

Node graph out of date, guys, so easy to fix. Apart from good fps, not much to applaud here. The order of enemies felt out of place, like combine super soldiers after 2 minutes, then back to CP hmmm. Layout and progression wise, I found it confusing as you don’t get a good look at the level when you’re on ground floor, then on the upper level it’s still not clear which way to go, like which areas are enclosed, especially when the forcefield becomes visible only as you get closer to them, plus the double use of same red train model to pass the tracks, plus headcrabs, also helped in my confusion.
The vid playthrough https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6BdM6bfVfE shows me breaking the map and finishing it the improper way, cus it’s really hard to find testers for such a small map, nowadays, apparently.
Nothing new, only for bored people or those that wanna play everything out there.

First of all, I finally decided to ‘give up control’ of moving files and installed MapTap. I’m really enjoying it! So for any other ‘control freaks’ out there like me, you might want to read up about it and reconsider using it.
I really enjoyed this map, despite some glitches. Yes I had to die first to figure out how to get through certain places, and it was a short map, but I particularly liked the design of the pathways around what was a small map area.

I enjoyed this little map. And the whole feeling after playing it is quite good, because this map besides the fun combat which it also feels well balanced, makes me think about how the rail road tracks are a quite important element in HL2; I mean, this element in mapping terms offer the developer a cool possibility to offer interesting combat and exploring scenarios, and here I just had the feeling this little but well planed map could be part of a bigger mod.
That been said, I hope this modder is encouraged to keep on working with some more maps in order to offer us a bigger mod, because I think definitely the author has some talent and I’d love to see something more of his creations.

I remember playing this a long while ago yet somehow didn’t comment. No idea why! Well, I’m glad I re-played this cool little map again today. It’s a little silly in parts, like not being able to jump over to the fencing near the start but overall i liked this. I’d love to see this idea / map design taken further for a bigger adventure because the mapper has some skills. Definitely worth a play. Really enjoyed it (except for the ending – meh….. I needed more!) 🙂

This is a solid map, my only problem is it’s way too short (only took me about 4 minutes to finish it)
Usage of space and world brushes: 8/10
I really felt like I was playing an official hl2 train station map. Excellent brush work and map design. The concrete blockiness of the station really pushed that feeling of real-world architecture. not quite brutalism levels of concrete, but enough to really make me feel like the map was… well… realistic to me.
Visuals 8/10
The fence with the wooden planks for extra detail really added to the “official valve map” feeling I got. The visuals were all there. I loved every second of this map. Everything felt right where it needed to be.
Gameplay: 8/10
The way the train station had few locked doors meant for easy navigation by the player to their destination. I could see the end and the boxes I wanted to break right at the start. Even the camera was a bonus for any audio ques the player might be looking for for direction.
Final Score: 24/30 – 80%
Final Comments: Please play it to get a feel for what I really expect in a solid map. It’s short, but damn good.
Post Script: The only problem I realized just now is that there is a mix of all ranks of combine when instead having only metrocops would really sell the idea that Gordon is in a city train station.
