Firstly, I would like to thank Ian Shaw for sending me this mod.
The level design is too blocky for my liking and the level changes too crude, that said the gameplay is fun and pretty hard, even on Easy.
I encountered two issues that required a Noclip solution but let’s put this into perspective. This was made over 10 yeras ago and I am pretty sure if I had palyed it when it was released I would be praising it no end.
To summarize: it’s not the greatest Hlaf-Life 1 mod every made but it may allow you some nostalgic action. Probably for serious Half-Life 1 lovers.
I would just like to point out that I AM NOT the author of this map and apologize for any misinterpretation on my part. This map was in my collection. I have never made a map for Half Life.
Once again< I apologize for this error
Tis I that need to apologize. I have edited your name out, sorry for the misunderstanding and thanks for sending me the file.
This crashes with a sound file error when I get the hazard suit. Then, c++ runtime error closes it all. :/
Are you running it with or without Steam?
With Steam, that’s the only way I can. >_>
At last! One more mod…
Hey, I remember this one. I think you start in some space station, eventually teleport yourself to earth. There is a prison. There isn’t much to see.
I have a problem at start put the folder into half-life folder and after launching I have this error
Host_Error: PF_Setview_I:set a client
A simple but a nice mod.
Most maps are boxy and even the monsters aren’t that well positioned. It’s still fun to play.
Not much to see; everything is too blocky, lots of misaligned textures, poorly placed enemies; some aliens popping up right in front of your face with no signs of teleportation effects and poor lighting making it all look and play very amateurish. It’s a bit hard at the beginning, even on Easy, but later it becomes too easy due to the unnecessary amount of grenades for the AR given to the player.
I had to use noclip two times during my playthrough due to poor design which could’ve easily been fixed with proper testing.
Good things then? Well, there aren’t any except a part in which you’re walking through a canyon in order to reach a base. It’s brief but fairly pleasant to look at.
Unless you’re really bored, don’t waste your time.
One of the first HL mods! And I replayed it recently… I think, it was enough playable for me.
Strange minimod starting in outa space as the aliens invade, continuing the action on Earth.
Pro’s:
-Plenty of combat
-Quite much ammo (looting)
-A few puzzles
-Semi-secret areas
-Interesting story, cutscenes
Con’s:
-Weird leveldesign and mapchanges
-Too tough combat (played on hard), especially at the start (lack of ammo)
-Bugs (getting stuck, clipping, maploads etc.)
-Less variation, undetailed levels (for example empty room)
-Looking unfinished, half-hearted
This mod, although pretty blocky and simple with the mapping, has no clipping errors (or at least, I didn’t get any)
There are two areas where there may APPEAR to be clipping errors but is actually not a problem. First is the start of the prison where you cannot move. You ARE clipped, but the floor is a func breakable that you can free yourself with when you shoot it. Nevermind why your weapons are with you in the prison.
Second is the vent ending in a bookcase. Simply move the bookcase with “use” key and you can jump up to the office.
The mapping is very basic and level changes are handled poorly, But the mod has a bit of unpredictability going with it and may surprise you on occasion.
– Starting on a spaceship and then transitioning to Earth was pretty fun.
– Some nice challenging combat
– I had a few moments where I had to noclip, for example when the player gets caught and locked up, I was stuck in the ground.
– Occasionally I had to quick reload because a body got stuck in the door preventing me to open the door and progress.
– Weird instant transitions when entering a door to a new map.
Although it had some flaws, it still was a nice little mod and I enjoyed it.
