Starting with no weapons and no idea where you should go, you need to stay alive long enough to figure what to do.
There is no story and no sense to any of the areas, but that’s that not the point of this mappack.
It’s to use your skill to reach the end.
Only the strong will survive, Spartans would love this challenge.

First off, don’t play this if you don’t like HARD mods because this certainly is one. It has no story and no logical or realistic sequence to the areas – you just run around collecting weapons and and ammo and then killing the enemies.
That said, I enjoyed it because I am trying to become a much better player and mods like this help that process.
You will die a lot but finishing it gave me a moment’s pride.
Good luck playing on the hardest difficulty.

This is kind of enjoyable despite being a very basic mod. Gameplay is difficult but finishing it is achievable. There aren’t a lot of grenades so you have a chance to snipe your enemies from a longer distance with the pistol. You do find yourself getting suddenly transported into combat zones, and there are a few invisible walls in the mod, but the gameplay overall is pretty decent. Not a masterpiece by any stretch but it is fun.

2 maps. Very simple. Not actually very hard, mostly because weapons damage and monster HP values have been changed. For example, the rifle does 27 damage in this mod (vs. 5 in vanilla HL) so enemies go down very quickly if you get hits on them. This is one of the concepts I’d like to discuss: when mods change the effectiveness of various weapons that you are familiar with in Half life, it may become necessary to ‘adapt’ to your new arsenal accordingly. In this mod, the pistol’s damage is not as high as the assault rifle’s, so I sprayed with it instead of my usual glock sniping routine. The shotgun is also not as effective as the rifle, so I also didn’t use it as often as I usually do.
Monster placement is about as brainless as you see in those screenshots. A lot of sentry guns aren’t even in autostart, so you can safely ignore them as well (they go down fast anyway due to the buffed rifle.) The difficulty was medium to challenging, I’d say, but not ‘VERY HARD’ as the author claims. Certainly wasn’t harder than Redemption’s back to back temple of assassins and baby headcrab cave.
The mapping is basically what you see in the screenshots. What you don’t see, though, are the invisible walls, of which there are a few. The triggers are also very, very basic, limited to instant teleports and breakable walls. There are a few puzzles spread around, the hardest to figure out would be the two trucks indoor area.
Overall a beginner’s mod with lots of combat and a few puzzles. Medium to high difficulty but not super hard.
Since I didn’t finish this I won’t add a recommendation, but … yikes. I think it would be playable and kind of fun if not for the basically bad visual and layout designs. I got myself to the breaking-window portion before I’d run out of sprint and health – because I couldn’t kill enough to remain unhit until then. Ah well.
Another one of them gruntfest maps. The beginning is a bit confusing as there’s a lot of enemies and no weapons. So I just ran through that area until I found a crowbar.
Your enemies in this short mod are mostly soldiers and they can waste you in seconds. Luckily, your weapons are powerful too, so it’s almost fair. There are some tough parts but overall it’s not that hot. The mapping is quite lame and hardly makes any sense. The best thing about this mod are weapon models, most likely stolen from somewhere else.
So, nothing special but I’ve gotta admit it’s not THAT bad. Good when you don’t have better mods to play.

Well I have to say I enjoyed this one more than the Zombie Survival mod. Maybe because the weapons were so sweet, I really loved the new assault rifle and the shotgun overall. I’m one of those players who thinks thats is pretty nice when we play new weapons than the always classic ones from HL2. Maybe that’s why I just love the recent mod release “Brutal Half Life”.
Anyway, despite in this mod we don’t have the best mapping layout, in fact is quite boxy and quite ugly in some parts, the combat felt less predictive than ZS mod from this author.
I also dislike the metal rock songs inside this mod, stick songs in a mod is quite not the best you can do.
The beginning was god although the weapons given to the player were automatic, which I thought it was a weird system to introduce new weapons to the player. Also the end it was completely non sense, but I guess in a grunt-fest map we really don’t need anymore sense than having a blood mayhem.

When I start the mod and select easy mode and clicking play, this mod crash and there is no error message. please fix this
I can’t fix it but we can try to help. Do you have the Steam version of Half-Life? DO any other mods cause the same issue?
You get what it says on the tin – a series of challenge rooms with minimal set dressing. I expected it to be harder, it’s very up until the end when there are no more health pickups or stations.
There are new weapon models and they do increased damage resulting in you mowing down legions of grunts with well placed headshots. It’s undeniably satisfying and I would definitely recommend it. The puzzles were minor and most solutions were “walk here” or “break that”. Not that I mind, just don’t expect escape rooms or anything.
Give this a jam if you like action and having plenty of flat ground to bhop on.
