After the rousing success of Half-Life: Abridged, the Map Labs crew ran a broader challenge to abridge popular Half-Life mods instead of the official games. The list of mods available to entrants was huge (too long to list here!) but it covered a wide variety of HL1 mods, HL2 mods, and even several small and single-map mods.

So here’s Abridged All-Stars, with 11 entrants!

Manual Installation Instructions
  • Make sure you have the Upcoming branch of the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer installed in Steam and run at least once. (Properties – Betas – select upcoming from the dropdown list).
  • Copy the abridgedallstars, mapbase_shared, mapbase_hl2, and mapbase_episodic folders into your SourceMods folder.
  • Restart or start Steam.
  • Abridged All-Stars should now be listed in your Library tab.

    Really enjoyed Abridged versions of quite popular mods.

    I assume Equilibrium Flux didn’t get any reward since it’s a bonus map (guess it was submitted late), but imho it should have been 3rd place at least.

    Overall, great maps; thanks to all authors!

    Well, this one was a quick and cool map lab challenge, I think the winners are worthy, and most of the bonus entries were also pretty cool to play.

    Overall I enjoyed the neat and quick action in all these releases, and I think the entries reflected the mods that were supposed to pay tribute.

    I think it is a nice PN.

    A well balance release with really cool and fun map to playtrough defenitly a map lab to give a try

    It is okay

    Playtime: 2 minutes

    you walk trough a museum, idea is interetsting but without any gameplay and quite short

    Chinatown by Gravity Cat
    It is great!

    Playtime: 25 minutes

    A sort of walking dead/Resident evil experience. I like to kill all zombies that why it took me sometimes…except at the end where you have a limited time to escape I find the concept
    and the design good and fun

    Sort of concept map were crates from different color is your enemy design was ok gameplay a little bit odd

    Nightmare House: The Ride by Matt71490 AKA Event Horizon & Shalashaska
    It is great!

    Cool concept for this one, you in a nightmare house in a mood of a theme park. It was short but I found it cool and enjoyable

    Implausible Signals by airrice
    It is WOW!

    Playtime: 25 minutes

    A short map in term of size but a great map in term of design and gameplay, everything was perfectly balanced in this one and really fun and sometime challenging

    Very Tall Tower by lukkasz323
    It is okay

    Playtime: 10 minutes

    Really interesting design and playtrough until reaching the end were the frustration and an abrupt ending ruin the quite enjoyable experience

    You play as a metrocop and enter a rebel ‘facility’ concept is interesting gameplay and suprise were well put together really fun to playthrough
