“The entire apartment complex is a crime scene, and the player must make their way through three individually decorated apartments in order to survive the scenario. Rich in precise environmental detail, the apartments offer starkly contrasting visual motifs and puzzle-oriented challenges. It’s up to the participants in my study to infer their own stories about what happened in each space and to the individuals who inhabit them.”

Well, not a particularly long map but quite detailed. I didn’t really feel I was in a crime scene but maybe because I was too busy trying to shoot shit and stay alive.
I liked the idea of the crows indoors but could see why they suddenly began burning. The ending was a little strange and the white text against the white padded cell was not very sensible.
I suspect the author tried to be too clever because I just never felt the map knew what it wanted to be. Was it an adventure game, a shooter or just a dream sequence?
All in all a short map that probably deserves to be replayed, just in case you missed something. But don’t expect too much.
The guy with the shotgun did it. You can tell by the guilty look on his face! 😀
I spotted no real problems with the mapping but there is a lack of attention to small but obvious detail that jars.
Lit areas with no light source. Eg on the wall in front and left of the desk where you start.
Shadows where there cannot be shadows.
Shadows going towards a light source.
The shadows cast by the lampstands are just wrong.
In one room with a flickering light, the shadow does not flicker.
In some dark rooms the walls are red but white with the torch switched on.
The cooker hoods, dear me. It would have been better to not have them at all.
You might think I’m nitpicking. If yes, I disagree because these smacked me in the eye from the word go.
The shadows going towards the light sources were the worst and really distracting and ruined my immersion.
Also, I hope the mapper finds it constructive which is what I intend.
The gameplay. Not a lot and what there is, is very easy. So easy, I thought I could go back and win in Normal with just the Crowbar. So I did and I did.
I left some befuddled metrocops behind who scarce saw the going of me and arrived at Phillips last screenshot with the Pistol, Magnum and Shotgun with loads of ammo” but nothing to shoot at.
Grrrrr.
Habitat 66
An interesting little mod about a murder revisiting his crime scene, well that’s how it looks to me, but the burning crows hint at something else.
The ending certainly points to the player being the murder and the padded cell hints at delusion to.
I liked the gloomy visual look and enjoyed attacking the two metrocops with the crowbar. Made a nice change to play a simple little coffee-time mod that was both interesting and fun.
I’m just a player so I have the luxury of over looking small mapping errors, except for that cupboard with the grey tile beneath it that crashed my PC when I crouched near it!
Play it now and enjoy a pleasant few minute’s fun.
It was short and there really wasn’t much to do.
Yeah, think twice is the proper recommendation for this one, because on my case I played it just because there’s a great lack of mods recently so that’s why I did, is so short, only closed and one shoot boring combat against the metro cops, one mutilated zombie and that’s it, it was like playing the first map ever made of one mapper guy so think twice before play it, oh and that kind of crazy freeman delusion is one thing I don’t get it right in this map…
Err bit creepy but too few hints to understand what the author wanted to say. Too short and easy, specially the fast crabs, I could just crowbar them one by one while standing in the door way. Guns are overkill for what little combat there is and especially against such easy enemies. Why is this in the Guildhall section.. The map says suicide rather than murder. And a weapon stripper should be used in the last room. If it weren’t for the well designed
shotgun suicide
, I would have said Avoid It, plenty of other good mods out there that worth your while.

The download link for this seems to be missing.
This is due to a database format import error. It’s on the list of posts to fix.
ah that kinda answers my other comment just. 😉
Thanks
