This is quite fun to play but is let down by the visuals. The feel is one of a beginner map; very square, strange ramps and doors, and large, open areas.
That said, the placement of enemies was quite nice.
I would hope the author would build something smaller but more detailed next time. Something simple yet real.
Making big areas is easy, it’s time to move onto something interesting.
Just gave it a “Maybe”. there isnt much here.
* on a side note I have always been meaning to ask what might be a silly question ( has nothing to do at all with this map) but in some map/mods there are Easter eggs / Gnomes. I have carried many a gnome to the end for no apparent reason that I could detect. Is there one? do they serve a purpose my low IQ doesn’t get ?? Thanks.
as always thanks for the site Phillip and to all the many who review and comment on all the map/mods, its much appreciated.
Basically, when Valve put the “Man on the Moon” Achievement into HL2:Ep2, a lot of people found the general idea to be a fun challenge. So as a result, many map makers have included the gnome. Some have done it as an actual “bonus” that unlocks an easter egg if you carry him all the way to the end, and some have used him as an actual necessity for completing a map, some have included him just as a cameo appearance type of inclusion, and some have included him with the deliberate attempt to trick you into thinking that you’ll get something for carrying him to the end.
It all depends on the individual map creator as to how he will be utilized. Some people make him useful, some don’t.
There’s some fighting which I quite enjoyed. It’s a good map but badly let down by the visuals and is very blockish.
If this is a first release, it’s a darned good start.
Combat very nicely paced and thought out. I played on easy then in hard and it was hard.
But for the visuals and short length, it would have been a PIL.
We get the RPG but nothing to shoot at with it. I was hoping for a Gunship or an APC. A gunship would have been spot on.
Ignore scenery, enjoy the combat.
Bother. I forgot the RI. Sorry Phillip.
Combat was fine, definitely short.
I, too, was looking forward to a gunship or strider. I suppose we could use the RPG against Combine…
I’m going to join the Maybe crowd too. I enjoyed it plenty. It was short, to the point. For a first-map, it’s excellent, but as has been said above, it needs a little something to spice things up. I was thinking maybe guards at the door before you get it open, more things down in the area you arrive at, etc. I’m not a fan of “they now pour out of the woodwork” spawns, but it was acceptable.
I liked the mapping, such as it was. If you’ve got 20 minutes to blow, it was fun! Too many weapons that didn’t get used, sadly.
it was correct regarding gameplay but this is the only thing that can save this map don’t forget it’s the 3rd map from the author that this time explore outside area but this also shows the limitation that wasn’t seen in the testcave serie… sadly when you have day light the boxy design just show up
I better like design to gampelay and don’t really see good amelioration into the mapping skill from the author…
I don’t have a lot of issue with this map, once you accept that it’s by a first time author then its limitations are put into perspective. All the above points raised by others are very good indications of the maps weaknesses, but that should not deter any one from playing it through, the only points that were negative for me was its shortness and simplicity.
Pingback: Garść informacji…
I’ve also np at all with the map, it’s so old hat but yet it’s fun and works. Challenging in places too and I liked the idea of the crossbow included.. Too large of course and once Pelikoira gets more experience I’m sure we’ll see some cool maps.

Looks bad. Plays ok. Big simple map.

Blocky level, bland combat, but the objective is clear. There’s nothing much interesting here
