1. Phillip says Avoid It!

Sorry but this is terrible. If I were the mapper, I wouldn’t even try and improve it. Just bin it and start again.

Terrible texture placement, the weirdest elevator I have even seen and boring action.

All in all, not worth your time.

2. Think Twice

I only downloaded this to try an idea, the idea worked but the game was POOR!

A while back I posted that despite having a legit paid for copy of HL2, it wouldn’t run, so in a moment of madness I thought I’d install this under EP2 and it worked. Judging by the screen shots it looks the same.

Also going by the screen shots, the last one is not the end of the game as there is also an APC to deal with but the game is getting too boring by the last one, you may not want to finish this anyway. For some reason you can’t jump as high as usual.

As for combat its not exactly challenging as some enemies just stand there doing nothing and others fight back. Also some enemies were invisible with only their guns showing, then became visible when I killed them, which might possibly have been because I was running it under EP2 but I doubt it.

I can see why Phillip hated it but it has just enough (not by much) to avoid an AI.

3. Avoid It!

I had to play this map a few times to figure out what the author intended me to do. That was because it was so poorly designed with a hole in the side of a building, bare edges of the map everywhere, a button that doesn’t seem to work properly, and enemies that appear invisible until you kill them. Also the only way to complete the map is to lead someone through a ridiculously small space. A good map should make you look for the solution but be able to find it without a ridiculous amount of wasted effort. Not worth your time

4. Think Twice

Disgusting quality mod, but not so bad. Among all these pseudo_horror poor mods, “Grass House” wins through the ridiculous AI. Sometimes he’s take funny lags, that you can laugh at him.
Very little pluses, its better not to play.
Not worth your time in any case.

5. Avoid It!

You know me as the Mr.Nice guy.
Trying to stand aside the bad designers , for the reason that its their first work and they cant be any better.

So please feel the deep hate in me as I say that the “AVOID IT!” rating is the most generous one I could give.

After squating between 2 spawnpoints , trying to hammer my way out of every window and killing a lot of unspawned NPCs,
i finally managed to make the 3 ton wall made of solid concrete bust like a wooden plank when my AI friend came close to it.
I guess it could just not stand the smell *wink*

And even later I was confused with where the actual spawnpoint was supposed to be.
So I was constantly spamming the kill command just to find out that the right spawnpoint is neither of those I visited.

Its just not worth your time , I simply cannot defend it now. Also just for curiosity I nocliped underground to see the Displacement structures. Poor VVIS and VBSP had to compile a load of T Junctions.

In short , Play this if you are a critic on YouTube.
Dont Play if you dont want to mash your head on the keyboard once you get down the elevator shaft.

Avoid It!

Sorry but this is another terrible one, uncomplete, really loosy poor map in the whole ways, I couldn’t find any good on this one and I don’t really know why we recently have seen really worse HL2 EP2 maps, I hope we soon could see better maps than these so far. Also I have sttutered graphs problems with this one.

7. Think Twice

Well, this is terrible.

The mapping is random (in a bad way) and the textures are really bad.

I know that a lot of beginners post their maps here, to see what other people think about them, but THIS map could have been much better.

The only reason I gave this a Think Twice is because it has an APC fight, which is actually really cool.

8. Think Twice

Today I decided to try a badly rated mod just out of curiosity. Well, this level can be completed without cheating and gameplay doesn’t get stupidly hard or frustrating. However, there are a lot of cons like bad guidance, poor lighting, poor texture placement, floating guns, and from time to time a remarkable drop in FPS … ! This last fact is odd as I haven’t encountered this in any other custom made map, even those that are huge in scale and detail. Summary in two words? Think twice … !
