This was due to be part of a 4-part mappack but is now available as a single map.
The map starts just after you have found and released Dog from a Combine storage area.
Your objective is to get him and yourself to the chopper to be extracted.

I almost made this a Hall Of Fame because I enjoyed it so much. I didn’t and it’s hard for me to explain why. I think it came down to the visuals.
Visuals
The interior part of the map is really nice; it looks realistic enough and still provide some good gameplay. The exterior parts were too dull in my opinion. They had plenty of detail but the lightning and set were too dark. This area would look fantastic in Episode Two.
Gameplay
Definitely the strongest part of the map came from the gameplay. Although some time the bunching of the Combine soldiers was a little frustrating. It made killing them too easy. The single addition of one Elite guard seemed out of place but who is say that wouldn’t happen?
The interior part offered more vertical movement whereas the exterior is simply flat. It would have been nice if there were a few walkways along the upper parts of the building from which Combine could have appear.
After Dog breaks a hole in the barrier you are blocked from re-entering the previous section by an invisible wall. This was the only problem I encountered. I am sure the author could have found a better way to limit the player’s movement.
Dog got in my way a few times but nothing to really worry about. That said, he played very little, if any part in the action except the opening sequence. It does raise the question why hasn’t Dog been used more. It/he offers some interesting options for authors and I would certainly like to see more of it/him.
Layout and Design
It’s quite a small area but at each point the player has to work hard to pass it and move on. As mentioned above the interior section looked great, although the addition of exploding barrels on delicate walkways is always a giveaway for action.
I would have liked the opportunity to explore a little more but that’s not really what the map was a bout and it’s easy to see as part of a large mappack that this would be the action section.
Summary
This is a really good little map and I thoroughly enjoyed. It’s hard not to wish the exterior section was as beautiful as some recent releases but let’s remember this is over 3 years old and as such you can’t really complain.
Who let the Dog out? (WHO? WHO?)
Short & sweet and I qute enjoyed it.
Picking up on Phillip’s comment about Dog getting in the way, that happened to me too! and once to the point where I was trapped and he killed me, I think!
Very good. An excellent challenge and a must play.
I play with brightness at max so the light is more early evening rather than sundown.
Beware of dog. It didn’t kill me but I did lose a bit of life once when I got in it’s way!
Very short but fun all the same. All over in less than 10 minutes. Maybe a bit too easy.
Thanks John
I swear I already made a comment on this page (and there were more comments). I hope I didn’t comment the wrong submission.
First off, I was rather disappointed that all dog did was run around, absort bullets, and “break” two doors. The concept could have been utilized much better and he may as well not have been there at all. The level design was alright. A bit sparse at points, but good enough. The gun fights were the best part, but were only a little better than all the other aspects.
It crashes as soon as it finishes loading. A second of stuttering sound and I get the “HL2 has an error and needs to close” window. Definitely in the right folder and everything.
Actually I might as well say right here that this happens with other mods randomly, (Powerstation 17 for example) they crash the moment the maps load. Anyone know the cause/ solution?
Interesting if somewhat pointless, a more realistic premise would have been The Dog aiding Freeman to escape. What content there was being well constructed with plenty of combat packed into this short map; however it lacks imagination and wasted the opportunity to merge The Dog into the gameplay.
Worth a play through with a good fun factor without ever reaching any noticeable achievements in either gameplay or design
As others have mentioned, this isn’t the Dog we’ve come to know and love. He participated in very little of the carnage, and mostly just ran around and kept underfoot. I really hated how that invisible wall kept me from my beloved missile crate, and even though I could scavenge ammo as needed, I still somehow felt like I was shortchanged on weapon choice.
It was nice to see dog in a custom map, but this was an unsatisfying reunion.
I also wanted that dog becomes more involved, he’s pretty useless except the first part (I shot the barrels faster than he shot the car up there).
I like how fast the fights began and the combine rope drop. It was pretty hard at the end, design were well at the beginning, end was okay but nothing special.
Nice little map but nothing special
Very short but fun map.
Silly me, tried to shoot the chopper because I DLed (and read the summary) a couple days before I played it.
Dog did get in my way a few times and cause me some damage, but I didn’t die. From him. (And the Combine only killed me once.) It would have been nice to see more of Dog in action, but then there might not have been much for me to do.
Soooo mannyyyy combiiiine…. fighting nothing but soldiers gets a bit dull after a while. Dog got in my way a lot, although he also drew some of the soldiers” fire, which I guess is something to be grateful for. I was never quite sure of my objective, so it took me a while to realize that the chopper floating around at the end was actually waiting for me, rather than glitched.
just really leaving my mark here so I know I played it. Its alot of combat shoot em up, like some squad type maps Dog does get in the way and can cuase ya damage but it a nice short map
Looks good. Plays bad. Dog does little except get in the way. He doesn’t engage the enemy. He is so up in your business, I had to noclip just to get out of a corner. Maybe play once.
