I’m not really a big fan of these types of maps and this didn’t change my mind.
The first puzzle is a little dodgy in that if you miss the opportunity to open the door then you seem to get stuck in the room – as I did and have to restart the map.
I enjoyed the high courtyard area but would have liked to have been able to actually hold the damn crowbar!
All in all it wasn’t horrible but if you hate abstract maps you may want to avoid this one.
5 Word Review
Kinda spooky, kinda frustratingly plain.
Is there a reason I can’t load the screenshots? Or is it just my connection!?
No, it was my fault, sorry. Should be fixed now.
Cubemaps weren’t built or weren’t tested if they were accepted into the BSP file. Not really acceptable.
Not really my taste at all. I miss having my HEV suit and at least one weapon. The puzzles were relatively simple but not fun like they were with “Quest for Dog’s Spark”.
Well I have to say this: I liked the concept of this little map, I think that if some kind of Half Quake mod or maps in source, would be kind of similar to this style. For me and my likings this map have a kind of strange spooky sweet combinations, and I liked because it wents out of the rutine of the same plain maps we can play, this is just different.
I am giving this a PL, because is perfect to play it later, and I am even now interested in search for similar spooky earie source maps like this, maybe there are a few of them out there, I don’t know suddenly I remember the fantastic Korsakovia mod, where all in there where like a nightmare and have that spooky feelling all the way, now that I mentioned that mod I highly recommend it, if you like spooky earie mods.
I hated this. Some bad maps are forgiveable, i.e. on the learning curve, pushed for time etc. but this is one of those ‘deliberately annoying” types from someone who clearly, from the level of ability to do this, could have done much better. I really hate these maps where random ‘magic” events occur in defiance of all logic, or cause and effect. What’s the point of trying? It’s only going to ‘magic” you… It’s also full of stupid, annoying things that all seem designed to frustrate and make the player mad. Not what you should be aiming for, mr. mapper; few players are masochists. Of course, it goes without saying that you’ve no suit, no weapons, no flashlight, no sprint, are stuck permanently in the dark, and slowed down walking in molasses as you (fail to) battle zombies, besieged by ‘magic” events that render it all pointless. And that’s it, in a nutshell – pointless. Quit, delete, forget.
I don’t understand what to do when you reach the bathroom. Any ideas?
Take something from the bathroom and put it somewhere else.
after reading the other comments and reviews I wanted to be the first to post some positive comments.. however I have to agree with phillip….
not a bad effort overall and worth a play…. however I have to award it a “PLAY IT LATER” ……..
