“So, the plan is real simple, Gordon. You and Crazy will charge in, grab some guns, and let us out of the cells.
Once we’re out, well…we’ll figure it out from there.
Talk to Crazy when you’re ready, he’s probably watching the zombies again.
Good luck…we’re counting on you.”

Awesome!
This mission is oriented on a prison escape first you need to deliver your maid and eliminate all special force second you take a different path and will meed you co prisoner for engage final battle . Design is correctly but mostly average. Some open area combat are most of time not too complicate due to the fact that ammo and health is spread all over the place scripting is quite well done balance with music from HL1 fun for half an hour
Yes, another Half-Life Prison game! Nevertheless, this mappack is one of the better renderings of a familiar theme. The story is straight forward – Breakout and make good on your escape; but as you can imagine, the author makes sure there is no easy path to freedom.
The opening sequence is a brilliantly crafted and scripted piece of mapping and even if the voiceovers are all taken from the original HL2 game, they are well used here and elsewhere throughout the maps. This sequence is nicely designed with appropriate prison surroundings and textures adding to the intensity and realism of the breakout. I for one found the opening engagement addictive and have replayed through it numerous times.
The pace and fury of combat does not wane from beginning to end with Combine troops, gunships, turret-guns and attacking scanners opposing your every step. Thankfully there is enough health and ammo around such that your progress is never slowed by the need to go searching for more.
The mappack is essentially a gun feast without any of the mixture of gameplay associated with the original game. There are no puzzles other than pushing a few buttons to lower force fields and no alternative to Combine foe – humanoid or otherwise. The whole game is a series of set pieces within close quarters against the Combine and its hardware and as such the environment and surroundings are limited.
The end sequence equals the intensity of the opening encounters and again is a well designed and scripted squad attack on the Combine strongholds leading to victory and freedom. Well, you wouldn’t want it any other way. Would you?
Whilst I do not wish to give out any spoilers, I think one word of caution is necessary regarding your suit – Be aware that the action starts within a Combine prison.
I experienced no in-game problems with this mappack with all running smoothly throughout.
Negative Points.
– Limited use of HL2 cast
– Similar settings throughout
– A bit on the short side
Positive Points.
– Good scripted sequences
– Intense Combine engagements
– Clever use of original HL2 voiceovers
Conclusion.
A very enjoyable game with loads of action from beginning to end and whilst on the short side, it will keep you well occupied the first time of playing through.
If you like your HL2 fare with plenty of combat then this is for you. If, however, you prefer a typical mixture of HL2 gameplay, you may be disappointed. I think it’s a fun play and well worth the download, so “go play now”!

Having played the mappack through yet again before submitting this review, I am still struck by the frantic pace of the combat that does not let-up for a moment. I am also mindful of the objective of this review which is one of trying to convince someone to replay a mod/mappack. There are far more superior mods/mappacks then this that could have been offered up, for which I have reviews ready and waiting. However, I was aware of the difficulty of getting either someone that never repeat plays to embark on a 4 or more hour epic, or someone who as played through all the epics time and time again. So with this selection I am hoping it slips the net of many, faded enough from memoir of others and has a comfortable playing span that immerses the player in shear action, fun in other words.
If you like your HL2 fare with plenty of combat then this is defiantly for you. If however, you prefer a more typical mixture of HL2 gameplay, you may have doubts, but rest assured what ever your liking this is a fun play, so go play it now.
man.. What a great escape! I enjoyed killin” dr breen 😀 I blew his head with the magnum hahaha xD
just checking it off my list as stated another prison break short and sweet worth the 15 mins
Had to noclip to get through the wooden paneled opening at the start and the door of the guardhouse outside with the fixed machine gun. Installed and run through guage.
Ok, started with map 2 instead of 1. Duh.

Nice combat-oriented map here. Yes, it’s a prison break but it’s actually handled pretty well and with a bit of humor.
In the short span of 15 minutes you progress nearly all the way through the HL2 weapon arsenal, and all the weapons do come in handy. Hot tip: grab the HEV as soon as you possibly can, I didn’t notice it at first and was stuck without the ability to switch weapons. 🙁
Not a masterpiece but it’s fun enough. There is some text on the screen helping you along which I think could have been handled better but overall I had fun.

This mappack had everything a mod should provide: scripted sequences and voice acting for npcs, organized combats, a believable story and a good finale. Totally worth playing it.

What a crazy fast-paced experience I ever had with this little two-packed mission. I really liked how you manage to escape the prison following citizen’s VA orders and such. Good use of them I must say!
I know we didn’t suppose to have a suit because we’re a prisoner (dunno if I missed the suit somewhere), but it was kinda hard to switch weapons in the walkthrough. Although, it was great to play this. Very fun and entrainment! Good map for that year!

Just like me, it’s not pretty but it is fun. The map contains lots of nice touches – it has a beginning, middle and an end, it tries to make the environment feel real with voice acting from the game.
I enjoyed playing this map and if it looked as good as some maps do nowadays, I feel most of the gameplay would stand up well.
All in all, a fun sub 15-minute map.

A very fun couple of maps where you work with other prisoners to escape. I don’t think it really needed the instructions it gives you but it keeps things nice and simple.

This was a very pleasant mappack. I had a lot of fun playing through it, and for me that’s one of the most important things for games in general. I liked the scripted sequences and the combat segments. The mapping in the first map was great, though in the second one it was kind of okay. Despite this, I think that this mappack is great and if you’re having a breaking out of prison vibe, then you should definitely check this out.
Well! I have a great taste after playing this one! Was maybe not the best mapping polished texture work, but definitely, it was very well paced and offers a great entertainment when you play it.
I have also said many times before that I love realistic missions in the HL2 universe, and here we have a perfect one!
The 2 peak momentums in the map, at the beginning and at the end, are just very satisfying once you beat them.
I have this hypothesis of mine that this kind of maps are special because we can clearly feel a Half-Life 1 mapping layout heritage, I mean, by the time of this early modding-mapping releases, mappers still have a close influence of HL1 mapping planning techniques and style. So the result is that we have a very great bundle of old-school maps and mods in this HL2 early era.
You know, by old-school I refer to those maps where you have to press buttons and retrieve keycards in order to achieve some mini-tasks inside the game.
So yeah this whole mod it was very fun and very nostalgic to play.

The map is fun, but I definitely had some issues with it. I feel the first part was handled nicely and was fair to the player, I do think that the beginning should have been explained a little better though, story wise and gameplay wise. The second map at the end I feel was bullshit throwing too many enemies with health being a rarity, and I’m not the kind of guy to save every few seconds so it got really annoying that there wasn’t a save point after each objective. The map design is nice and the dedication of the level designer is definitely there. I give this map a 6.5/10, I feel with less enemies at the end and some tweaks to explaining and design this map could be a masterpiece.

Drew Mobley’s Prison Break really made me feel like I was escaping prison.
The level design was amazing and the combat was great.
Even though I am not a big fan of telling the player things with text on screen, I did not mind it very much here. You can forgive a lot of flaws in a mod when it is fun to play.
I played a lot of mods today, most of them being bad. Very glad we have simple, short, fun mods like this being made.

Great map! Dynamic gameplay, good level design and relevant replicas from the original Half-Life 2. There are some flaws with textures and other features, but mostly great work!

Do you like maps where you need to escape from the prison? Well, then you should check this 2-map-adventure sometime. The design of levels has some flaws and has that amateur tone. The story isn’t also perfect (prisoners can freely walk among guards, armory is right beside cells) and respawning enemies is certainly not a way to make your maps harder.
Although fighting these enemies is satisfying, fellow prisoners are doing great job and there are plenty of hiding spots.
Overall, prison break not without downsides.

A very fun map with some funny moments. I wish some areas were a bit more open, instead of having to be crammed in an open room fighting off soldiers, manhacks, and a helicopter. The music choices were smart, like having Hard Fought for the final battle
I give it a 7/10. A balanced mod, with some fun moments.

Even on easy it’s tough. The last bit was the toughest. SPOILER The respawning combine made it tough. Then you hit the button and all hell breaks loose with about 8 elite. You have to rush at this point, would rather a slower pace to enjoy the standoff.

Very well done. Play as a full-fledged mod. I recommend to everyone. I was very pleased with the dialogues with the NPCs and the cool plot.

this mod is… pretty fun
In parts I got trapped because I’m bad even at this game but it’s all my fault.
The final parts are quite difficult and made me suffer, even so I liked the conversations with the prisoners.
