Coach

for Half-Life

4th June 2013

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

Starting off in a caged-off room, you need to get the tram working and then follow it along through a couple of electrical and direction puzzles.

Don’t expect it too easy though, there’s a few soldiers whose sole purpose in life is to stop you.

Built 12 years ago and only now seeing the light of day, this map ends in the top floor bathroom.

  1. Phillip says Maybe

This is quite a nice little map and the level of detail is well balanced. It doesn’t make sense, of course, but that’s what happens with these sorts of old releases.

The elevator shaft section is well done, although it could have been a little higher to add to the drama.

I found the end frustrating but, again, that’s the issue of unfinished levels.

All in all, it was fun to play, but there’s only so much enjoyment from such a small map. Play it for quality not quantity.

    Link doesn’t work

    1. Strange. Works for me. Please try now.

Thanks for reviewing the map Phillip! And you took cool looking shots too!

    1. You are most welcome. The screenshots are only as good as the map or mod they come from! Any more little gems sitting on your PC?

      1. Gambini

Yes, one quite big thing! But I’m waiting to Turdpipe to fix Source SDK so I can resume working on it.

  4. Maybe?

It had a few enjoyable moments, but I spent too long at the end looking for the next step. I realize it was unfinished, but couldn’t the author have slapped something in there? Also, what was with the unbreakable crates throughout? I really didn’t need my crowbar!

    1. Gambini

Thanks for playing. The crates were accidentally turned into func_walls at some point. And the end has been reported as difficult by my tester too.

  5. Maybe?

As Phillip said, play it for its quality, not quantity. Nice little map, with the operative word “little”. Look forward to more (and larger) if/when that happens. 🙂

    Maybe?

Well what can I say, just feels like someone mapping for HL1 in early 2000’nd You know, just some linear path till you reach an unfinished end, maybe can be into something bigger, some day.

just play it if you have not a thing to play.

  7. Maybe?

This is a 2000s map that reminds me of much better and simpler times.

The story is that you’re a man that is trapped in some door cell. But then, you have to get to a… toilet? (that’s where it ends) to beat the map.

The combat was decent, but there wasn’t a lot so I expected more.

The mapping is (as previously mentioned) 2000s-ish. It has that 2000s feel, that I find so good.

Overall, if you want to be reminded of the good ol” Half-Life days, then play this map.

    Think Twice

Decent piece of a map here. Unfortunately it just stops abruptly and you end up with a bit of a bad taste in your mouth.

For what’s there, the mapping is decent and sections are nicely detailed. Unbreakable crates (and even cardboard boxes) are scattered about, and one of the grunts was stuck in the wall/floor and was surrounded by the dreaded yellow dots.

A handful of grunts and some simple puzzles are all you’ll encounter here, beyond the well-done tram section. Nice start but it just doesn’t go anywhere. Not worth your time unless you’re desperate.
