You find yourself in what seems to be a deserted city – City 13.
There is a prisoner you have been sent to rescue or kill.
Find him and eliminate all resistance.
“This map has a long history behind it. I started this map on the 10 of October 2005 and I finished it just a bit after then.
I went on holiday to Turkey with the rest of my family where I worked on the A.P.C.s on the bridge (you’ll know the bit I mean when you play it ;=]) and then I attempted to reinstall Windows X.P. because I thought I had a problem with the U.S.B. ports of my computer (which on further investigation I didn’t).
However, the installation stopped halfway though leaving me with no choice but to reinstall Windows X.P. completely from scratch (which in turn would erase all my data).
I was not going to let almost a year of work go that easily, however. I had access to this device known as “The Microsoft Recovery Console” from which I could copy files like this: C:program files etc. That was the location of the file to E: The destination (luckily I had a partitioned portion of my hard drive).
I didn’t have any instructions for this though, I found it out through trial and error. I then finished the map on October the 12 and am therefore making my work available to the public. I put a huge amount of work into this and it was my first proper H-L 2 map. I really appreciate any sensible feedback. Enjoy playing it!
So, the plan is real simple, Gordon. You and Crazy will charge in, grab some guns, and let us out of the cells. Once we’re out, well…we’ll figure it out from there. Talk to Crazy when you’re ready, he’s probably watching the zombies again. Good luck…we’re counting on you.”

pretty hard. but fun
The entire map is set in a couple city blocks. You follow the streets around enter a couple buildings to hit the switches for gates and end up at the jail. There are combine all the way around the streets so its shoot to kill to get there.I didnt find it hard since there is lots of ammo/armour/health.
If this was done in a setting like the Grand Place in Belgium, with streets running in different directions and easy to get lost and all the centuries old buildings etc I would of enjoyed it more. But I dont know if thats even possible.
Have you say Belgium…if you are from this place you are not alone…
What’s the payoff? I get to the jail, break down the wood planks to get into a room, push the button, go out the back door, climb over two armored cars and I’m back at the beginning. Is that it?
Never mind. I got it. Just didn’t push the door in the right place the first time.
Well, I didn’t enjoy this map very much at all. It crashed on me twice and I had real trouble getting very far (Maybe my difficulty setting was still on “hard”, who knows.
Anyway, after the second crash I gave up!
Nope not from there.Just lived in Waterloo for 5 years when I went to school.Beautiful country,as is most of the EU
You an IB man andyb?
IB?

i went to st.johns international school for grades 8-12.just normal schooling.
Didn’t like it to straight forward and a little to hard for me…
Gameplay:
Run and gun action with a few buttons to press, however the flow is very boring and tiresome. A lot of enemy combine soldiers are thrown at you in a large city enviroment that is niether exciting or fustrating. Player does however gather enough supplies to survive though. Knowing where to go isn’t at all obvious and the long walks were annoying too.
Design:
Very average, with some very basic structure and texturing throughout. Although the map doesn’t have plain blocks and square rooms is a plus, however the bad design ruined it. Lighting was bad in a lot of places, especially the indoors as it was a green toned yellow and didn’t look good at all.
Conclusion:
A tiring and boring map with bad design.

isnt that the same quote for the “prison break” maps?
very boring map, too many soldiers, only for cyborg-players 😉
Boring or not? That’s the question. A long time ago, Maki questioned one of my reviews saying that I was simply talking about the base game’s mechanics. I thought about what he said and thought he was probably right.
And that review reminds me of this map. There is NOTHING special about it. In fact, the whole thing is bland, plain and unexciting, but I quite enjoyed playing it.
Or did I? Did I just enjoy the base game’s mechanic?
Either way, play this only if you like either far or close combat because there doesn’t seem to be anything in between.
There’s too much health and ammo, although I ran out at the beginning and the enemy placement has little creativity to it.
All in all, only play if you want to play everything or enjoy using the crossbow.

Very hard combat. Large, but mostly empty spaces.
Buttons that have to be pushed in the right order. I spent most of the time retracing steps trying to figure this out.
I did enjoy it at first, but then I got frustrated. I felt like I was being punished.
I think a lot of effort went into this map, but in the end it was just not for me.

Huge, wide open. And again, boring. The first section is pretty damn hard, because for some reason you can’t pick up the machine guns from enemies that you’ve killed.
But suddenly if you miraculously keep going, that changes and boom! You’re picking up AR2s all over since you’re facing dozens and dozens of Elites for the rest of the map.
This isn’t really fun even if you’re only looking for combat. The city is huge with wide streets so there’s no cover, and random doors can open and lead to rooms inside of the buildings.
In the end, there’s no payoff anyway – the map has no ending and you just kind of loop back to a couple APCs that you can see near the start. Not an iota of clever design is on display here. Skip it.

I didn’t like the part where you had only a pistol with ONLY 18 bullets, as you could miss etc. and make it impossible to progess without restart. I’ve died alot due to ammo shortage. The maps aren’t that detailed, but judging from someone who cant even make a building(not literally, but im quite bad), its good. I’d say, just give more ammo.

You know, I only had one thing in mind at the moment I played this humongous arena map style. And that was: “This is sure an awesome map if I port it in Garry’s Mod”, a thing that I sure will do!
In fact, this kind of arena maps, I understand can be quite annoying for some people when you play it with a pure HL2 context, I mean, only with some weapons. Also because the map itself has few nodes for the Combine NPC’s to move, and this makes the combat to be very static and very linear. So it can be a very predictable and quite boring game dynamic.
Never the less, for me, this kind of maps had something -what I call- “The Sandbox-GMOD-Value”, because they have enemies to fight, and huge spaces to put some Tanks, or other military Vehicles on it and make a very realistic military mission inside the HL2 universe. You can even play it with some just awesome custom weapons only Gmod can offer. And it is interesting how the whole taste of this kind of maps can change once you try them on Garry’s Mod.
But, on the other hand. I have to say that when I see a mod or map entitled as “City #”, I usually imagine not only to fight in a huge urban arena -as in this cases, I rather expect a CONTEXT to be told inside that mod or map. I think when a developer names his or her mod as “City #”, it’s almost mandatory to tell the story or the reason(s) why that City is important for the CMB or the Resistance in the HL2 universe!! That’s very important to me, and I can swear that only very few mods entitled as “City #” tell a story or a context inside its urban fighting scenario. In fact, one of my dreams as a gamer is to be able to play, sooner or later, a competition named “City # Ville”, where the authors precisely told a short story about their “City #” map or maps. I think that could be very cool inside the HL2 environment.
So, yeah, I think I like this kind of almost pure combat maps, combat sure is very predictable, but if you like the “Gordon goes Rambo” style maps then this is for you.
P.D. I also recommend you to port this kind of maps on Gmod and have some more fun with them, you may like it or not but it’s interesting to do it. In order to do that you only have to copy the map form the original hl2 maps folder -remember it has to be a “.bsp” extension- and paste it in the propper Gmod’s folder for the maps, which usually is: “steamapps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod/maps” route.

Oh boy is this pretty bad… The overly large areas are ruined further by the immense amount of bad guys knocking about this city. I’ve a pistol… Oh, just found a crowbar!
This really needed a stash of weapons available right from the start to give most players even a hint of a chance. I failed soon after bypassing those first guys. I was already to leave a poor review and then I thought I’d cheat!!
Yep, cheat.
Whacked on the cheat to give all weapons and I had a blast. What a great time killing wave after wave of soldiers. Great fun. Though I doubt I’ve played this map as it was intended, I still advise all to check it out.
It’s absolute rubbish really but transforms into something stupidly good fun for 10 mins! 🙂
City 13 is boring. It’s just boring. The map looks terrible. Plain and boring. The combat is awful. There are WAY too many enemies. You will be fighting them in either a overly long city street with no cover anywhere when they are about 200 metres away or in a house. In the houses the creator thought it would be a good idea to put Combine with shotguns at a doorway, one at each side so you are basically forced to take damage.
Avoid it. I mean it.
