Just a silly little daydream I had today, while cleaning my hard drive of junk.
What if I were some a game producer and I could get various people to make a game with me.
A variety of post themes, including articles, ideas, stories and rants.
Follow the Phillip’s Blog releases via RSSAs you know, PP isn’t a news site but I felt this was important and should be mentioned. My web friend Au Heppa, the driving force behind Human Error has decided to release the source code of the whole mod!

I’ve mentioned this before in some of my podcasts and even some reviews but yesterday during the 100 SDoN Podcast 03 it came up again but in a slightly different context.
Let me start at the beginning.

I am pleased to announce my new mapping competition.
I have created a special page for the event, which contains everything you need to know.
If you have an questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
If you run or are involved in a website, especially a non-English one, please consider posting this on the site or in the forum – thank you!

I had been thinking about this post for a few days, you know, writing different paragraphs in my head, then forgetting about it and coming back to it.
Then I played Whoopservatory (that’s gotta be one of the strangest mod names around!) and decided to sit down and write it. The reason is that Whoopservatory teases the player really well and it seems to be an art that hasn’t been used much in Source maps compared to GoldSource or even Unreal.

I have just launched Osmosis and found it has reset itself back to the beginning, meaning I have lost all my finished zones, in effect my game saves.
The game was a gift and in all honesty, unless it suddenly and miraculously gets its saves back, I won’t play it from the beginning again.

As part of the 100 Summer Days of Nostalgia event I added a mod called Prisoner of Event and in my review I complained about not having been given a crowbar.
It seems I wasn’t the only one who didn’t like not being given one, but behold, we were in fact complaining unfairly because there was a crowbar laying around at the beginning of the mod.

The 100 Summer Days of Nostalgia event has generated so many ideas for mod reports, podcasts and general articles. One of them, which has certainly been done before, but fits so well with the theme of the event is Where are they now?
I have emailed a few people and Petrick, a PP reader and reviewer, has said he has tried contacting a few people too, but I thought a proper post on the site would be a good idea.

Starting tomorrow, Monday 27th June 2011, I willing be giving away one game from the Half-Life series (excluding Portal 1 and 2) everyday.
As usual, there will be a Half-Life trivia question to filter the unworthy! Of course, you, the reader, will probably already own these games, but as we know gamers are generous people and I am sure you know somebody who would love to play them.
All games have been kindly donated by Wozzle, a regular PP commenter – thanks Wozzle!
If you have any games you wish to donate to my giveaways, please contact me.

Art mods, Alt mods, Creative mods call them what you will, they have become more popular recently.
Whilst I am not a big fan of them, I recognise and applaud the creativity involved.
Using game engines for things other than gaming is certainly not new and and the more we explore possible uses the more interesting things get.
