So, this week I was looking around the Steam store and I noticed that everything uses the “http://store.steampowered.com/app/…” URL and that got me wondering why Valve don’t sell APPlications through Steam.
I don’t own many applications because there are so many free ones available but for some things I buy applications and it would be so nice to just install and load Steam and have my applications available from where ever I can use Steam.
This article is not a review of Portal 2. That will be posted on a new part of the site eventually. This is an article ABOUT Portal 2.
This short article contains spoilers about the game and my upcoming review.
Let’s get this over and done with…. I was a little disappointed with Portal 2. The beginning was okay, the middle fantastic and the end, mostly meh! with one “WOW, cool! moment.

There are lots of things that affect how popular a mod becomes and how much coverage it gets. In fact, I had a conversation with somebody recently about his mod and I used the phrase “The right mod, in the right place at the right time”.
A few days ago I posted a mod called The Sewer and it’s quite good in some sections and average in others.

In the PP Discussion Podcast 002 I mentioned commercial mods, and the idea of a commercial HL mod popped into my head. I said I would make it this week’s Poll Question and here it is!
I am not saying that Valve should but I feel it’s a valid question.

Let me clarify the question. You find a new mod on PP that apparently has a really good story but the voice acting is only in a language you can’t speak.
Do you still play it knowing that you won’t understand anything – nada, rien, ingenting, ei mitään, hичего, niente, tίποτα, kuch nahin, niets, 무가치, nashi, ekkert, nihil, gar nichts? (Sorry, I got carried away with the translations!)

I know a lot of people don’t play the maps that I post on the site and there are many reasons for that. Some don’t like the fact that they are generally short. Some don’t like that fact that they generally don’t include new content and others, well, let’s just say they can’t face the trouble that installing maps can cause.
As you may have seen, I have just announced a new application that will remove that particular aspect of map playing, so this seemed like a good question to ask, although some may say I should have asked it before!

I’ll be honest, after seeing those inadvertently released screenshots for BMS, I am less excited than I was. Sure, they may not represent the final product but as people like to say, some things can’t be “unseen” and they are in my mind now.

Portal 2 is soon to be released and whilst PP doesn’t really focus on it, I am sure a lot of readers will buy and play it.
However, others might be less worried. This week’s poll question is to gauge PP readers’ feelings.

With all the talk about Portal 2 and its co-op feature, finding a first play-through buddy etc, it got me thinking about whether co-op will become the new black.
I believe Valve won’t include it in Ep3 simply because it’s popular in one game, but it might encourage other developers to try it.

It is with great sadness that I announce that Jasper, an active member of the PP community, died on Monday. I am sure I speak for all my readers when I wish his wife and family our deepest sympathies.
Jasper was always interested in helping visitors to the site and I feel honoured that we managed to work together on some other projects.
I know that the maps and mods he found here brought him great pleasure.
When I started this site, I never thought that I would be posting anything like this, but that shows how much a community we have become. His contributions to the site, with reviews, message, ideas etc will be missed.
Please use this post to pass on any messgaes, although under the circumstances, I don’t know if they will be seen by his family. I am sure they have more important things to think about than a gaming website.
