Thanks to 23-Down for fixing it and sending me the working file.
It’s a very short release, so it’s hard to recommend it, but not because it wasn’t fun to play.
It’s just a Black Mesa style mod that was never finished. If you like BM maps then you may enjoy this.
Remember, it’s no more than 10 minutes worth of play.
It’s not worth playing. First of all, I don’t like when people release a demo for singleplayer mods. It’s a mod, not a commercial product. Either you reveal too much, or you release too early. It doesn’t work.
Does anyone remember “Mistake”, a horror themed mod Half-Life? The author released a huge part of the game, months before the final release. When the final version came out, I didn’t want to download it, because I didn’t want to play the same thing twice.
Pros:
-Nothing
Cons:
-There’s no story. The character dialogue doesn’t make any sense
-Your flashlight doesn’t work (impulse 100 doesn’t work either)
-There’s no challenge
I agree about the demo point, but U have released this because I believe the mod to be dead.
First of all thank you 23-Down for making this available, however at a nearly an 11mb download and over 36mb unpacked, I wondered why it was so short? The reason for the size is the inclusion of the training course maps.
OK on to the back in future maps, from what I could see this showed promise and the look was quite good in my opinion, although combat was almost non-existent. It was not long enough to say it was fun, but I did enjoy what there was. As for time playing, it almost took longer to remap the keys because F6 in this case was set as load not save.
Overall this was too short to be a PIN or PIL but too good to be a TT or AI which means a Maybe is the only option.
Yeah there’s almost nothing here. The author included all the maps for the standard Half-Life hazard course for some reason.
Those screenshots are certainly brightened. For some reason the HEV flashlight was removed from this mod even though it still appears on the HUD. And then the author makes you do some dark vent crawling and some combat in really dark areas. Brilliant.
The only good thing about this was some of the looks – I liked the new Black Mesa style textures. Otherwise it’s kind of a waste of 10 minutes.
The only screenshot I “edited” was the thumbnail. All the rest are how they were.
Ye it’s a maybe mod only… But due to the fact that this is probably a dead mod having those maps here is better than letting them disappear into nowhere.
As for the flashlight issue. It’s true.
My guess is that the flashlight model which is inside the models folder could be the wrong one. I had to search for it in the Internet and downloaded it of some CS website. So the real flashlight model he used is maye a completely different model even though it has the same name. But I guess we will never find out.
I agree with @Bolx at this one.. The maps looked nice and showed promise. Pity that he never released a full release. His last update on the mod was almost 2 years ago.
Could have been a good mod. Too bad it was never finished and had no flashlight!
Im surprised actually because of this 2 really bad releases, I know betrayed mod was annoying but this is so poor and lame!, I mean I even think this kind of alpha verssions shouldn’t be released, and to be here in the 100 DoN, is kind of wasted space, I mean there are some other cooler mods in there than this last 2, but anyway it doesn’t matter that much, here we have a promise of a mod, I don’t really know if they’re working on it still, but if they do I hope they launch it soon and propperly, and definetly will be a better stuff than this alpha verssion.
Also the last map failed for me and crash soo I had to charge it manually which is a pain in the ass because is the bug that I hate the most in any mod, but I think it was obvious that in an alpha verssion almost nothing is polished.
It’s not part of the 100SDoN.
Oh I see noow, sorry I thought it was, because it was HL1, but they send it here!, oh ok, then I hope we could see the whole mod soon!!
No, the mod is dead. That’s why I have posted it. I don’t post demos or betas of mods that are still in development.
Oh now I could imagine why is dead!!, ok i’m not dying for pplaying this anyway….
First.Sorry for my bad english.
I am the creator of the mod and I mean that you resume work. I will try to offer a complete game with a story more interesting and more action. I hope to do something good. Forget the old mod, was a challenge.
This looks promising, not only the nice graphical design. I wonder if there’s a real release after that alpha version.
Pro’s:
-Neat-looking graphics; textures looking dirty and realistic, nice lighting and new HUD
-A few surprises
-Nice combat
-A few scripts
Con’s:
-Very short (~5 mins)
-Balancing – too much ammo, health and HEV chargers
-Story?
-No real puzzles
-No flashlight (would be nice for the ventilation shaft, altho it’s a short part)
