Description
“In this mod the Half Life 2 story continues, you are given a new assignment, kill Kleiner! The hl2 story ends at the point where you killed Dr Breen. Dr Kleiner has taken over the work of Dr Breen and is on his way to world domination with the combines. But he could not do this with the ordinary combines so he also created new types of combine, such as the suicide bomber! It is up to you to stop him! You will receive new weapons. You will see new skins. You will come across new models. But most importantly, you will come across a lot of intense action, amazing interaction with old and NEW npc’s and a lot of comedy.”

I can’t comment on the gameplay because I haven’t played it yet, but why on Earth would Kleiner take over Breen’s work? I appreciate that the author has taken the time to think about a story and context for the game but to me it just makes no sense at all.
Judging from the screenshots, this looks like a few amathur mappers got together and quickly built some environments, without much knowlegde of the engine and low standarts on most aspects. The maps seem extremely boxy, and with no attention to detail.
Luckily this seems like a beta version, and it’ll probably be improved when and if it reaches the final version. The new guns and weapons, and the hud thingeys, do look nice though. The mod seems funny in quite a few ways, but I’m not really sure about how well it is ingame.
Can anyone try this and post their thoughts on it? I’d love to know if it’s an AVOID IT! or something that’d be slightly amusing to play.
Okay, I have a feeling that my opinion will be in the minority. I didn’t actually enjoy this mod very much. The gore has been turned up, the weapons have been tweaked and they have added what they think is humor.
To be honest attempt at humor and the addition of the frying pan and apple tarts did nothing for me.
The level design was average and the gameplay was average at best. I stopped on the final part of the bonus map because it was just silly.
A lot of work has gone into this but it’s not going to be part of my Hall of Fame 2008
I really enjoyed this mod even with the throwing frying pan.
the levels were cool & the gore factor was alittle over the top but still neat.
only problems I had was sometimes id throw the frying pan & id lose it trying to find it again.
Tho still a beta ive played through it more than once
This mod is not complete yet but very amazing and promising Waiting for sequel
I think you mean for the finished mod. I won’t be playing the final version but only because the “style” of this mod doesn’t appeal to me.
It’s pretty thoroughly meh. The attempts at humor fall flat on their faces, and I found many of the maps buggy.
I liked it-bugs and all. Mainly because these Dutch authors tried something new. They mixed some humor with violence and some decent puzzles. I’m sure they will be making some adjustments to make it run smoother before it’s finished. They say they have 3 more maps ready to add but still have more before it’s complete. It’s different and a nice change from the list of so many mods that seem to follow the same pattern. The bonus round I found to be overwhelming though. Way too many enemies coming at me at once!
So buggy that when I tried to launch it, I got an engine error. As much as I want to play it, I couldn’t 🙁
Same problem as feckineejit, mod does not launch, is there something wrong with the Filefront version?
I have removed both my FileFront and Filecloud links as they both were corrupted. I normally test the links before I post them but when a file is this big I often don’t have time.
I have added three working links and will upload new PP version asap.
@feckineejit, I have removed your recommendation image because it doesn’t relate to the mod itself but my file.
@mel, yes, it was corrupted.
OH! The amazing thing is that the file was downloaded over 2000 (via both locations) and only two readers mentioned a problem. I know some probably haven’t tested it yet, but it still really annoys me that people don’t inform me of issues.
im gettin a libary error, when im triein to start it…:(
Yes, It seems that my files were corrupt. I have now linked to known working files.
Have to reluctantly say that I’m struggling with this one, not because it’s difficult, but mostly because “haven’t we seen these areas before?” (Oh & the juddering thing in the outdoor areas, but maybe that’s just the way my PC works, s’funny how it’s ok on most HL2 Mods…..
Mucking around with one or two of the sound-bites doesn’t quite make “humour” as far as I can see, though as I haven’t finished it as yet I’ll reserve judgement. It is clear that some thought has gone into it though, so I will no doubt persevere. I just hope it is worth the effort.
I appreciate that it’s a “Beta” but wonder if you wouldn’t have been better off hanging fire until you had some better testers and could actually release as a finished article? I mean, honestly, if you want PP readers to test your mods, just say so, I’m sure many, or most in fact will. But this needs a bit of a serious coat of looking at.
Waiting for the full release seems like the best option to me chaps….
(Where are all the new mods??) (Here of course, there just aren’t many of them at the moment….)
Played the first level, and it was fun, I like the extra gore. The outdoor areas are a little empty and strike me as being too simplified. the indoor areas are even more simplified and do not have the “normal” dimensions that I would expect walking into a building (corridors are wide while secondary corridors/small rooms are too tight). The physcis have been modified, a strafing movement causes you to slide a few feet to one side which I did not like. I will post my impression of the rest once my motion sickness goes away and I can make a second run.
Keep getting stuck and noclipping around. either I’m really bad at this stuff all of a sudden or there’s bugs preventing me from progressing. either way I have to change my rating and look for a walkthrough.
Nice mod. Would definitely try the finished product! Could used more weapons though,,
Difficult to know what to say about this, I guess you need to keep in mind that it’s beta. However, I find it difficult to imagine this ever being a mod of distinction, apart from all the obvious issue like not finished, bare content, lack of imaginative combat and over gameplay, the game has no sole, it’s very shallow without any buzz or memorable moments and it would take a lot to turn this into any sort of worth while playing experience. I hope I’m wrong, lots of work has gone into the mod and some of the comments above did not bother me, the humor issue is not an issue that would stop me playing the game, there is very little attempt at humor and whilst I agree the instance I can remember was flat, then maybe we should be a bit more considerate for a Dutch team mapping and scripting in English. I think the team has a good mod within them but I don’t think it’s this one; they should learn from this and plan their next mod around a strong story line building on depth and progression with the gameplay, being more inventive with staging of combat and more imaginative with puzzles, just moving and stacking boxes has been done to death.
Together with Minerva .., Cryshield, Riot Act, Coastline .. etc one of the best Sinleplayer Mods, been a while since I played it, but it was GOOD!
New NPCs? New weapons?
FECK YES, LEMME AT IT.
It’s difficult to really classify “What a new N.P.C. is”. In my opinion just re-skinning an old N.P.C. that has all the same abilities is not new it’s just a re-skin.
A new N.P.C. is a new model created in Blender or Mudbox I think there should be a line between what a new N.P.C. and what a Re-Skin is. New N.P.C.’s in that sense technically this modification doesn’t have those. There is re-skins, but not anything we have seen before.
The new prop item being the pie that is definitely something new. I still give this modification points for trying and having unique elements in it such as the Pan and the Voice Acting.
The developers have still not released a full version, and unfortunately do to when this modification was released it almost no longer shows up on the radar.
I find that is the biggest mistakes many mod developers make. If they wait too long their project will be over-shadowed by other modifications that come out especially if it doesn’t get updated a lot.
