The Evil normally maps for CS:S but decided to try his hand at some HL2. Th action takes place in a large Combine facility with plenty of walkways and huge drops.
There are possibly more Combine Elite Guards in these two shortish maps than in the whole of the Half-Life series. No, really, I’m serious.
Not for the faint hearted.

Building large Citadel-style levels is perhaps the hardest thing to do for HL2. Big is easy, but big and amazing is a lot harder. Whilst The Evil has obviously tried hard it just doesn’t feel right. it feels more like a large area built for playing than a purposeful setting that is also fun to play in.
That said, he has been trying to include some scripts and animations so that explains some things. I’d love to see a really experienced mapper write a detailed article on Combine Architecture – the do’s and don’ts of this style of mapping.
I would recommend that the author works on the details more and less on the size….
The action is okay until the end when it became over whelming. I had to cheat even on EASY. I know that there are others who are much better than me but a mapper should make a map beatable for nearly all players.
It’s fun to play but the locations near more work.
Should be map hl2_antracide_part1
Thanks. Fixed.
‘the Evil” set out to map for a war against the Elite.
The maps created achieve the objective absolutely.
If you insist on depth and meaning to your gaming, this is not for you.
If you want to have a lot fun and enjoy an extreme combat experience like me, you’ll love it.
Start Easy, then play Hard.
Starts off being fun, turns tedious, becomes flat boring when you realise that the 700 count is bogus, having killed at least 1000 of assorted enemies. I played on until I realised it was endless – and ergo, pointless.
OOPS! I was commenting on The Village :). This one was fun.
This looks like the name of an insecticide, and I still don’t know why the author related this 2 maps close to CSS to me was pure HL2 style and really far away from a CSS concept, here we dont have too much more interesting things to do tha n to be in a bloddy mayhem and that’s it which makes this 2 maps kind of poor because sometimes there’s a rule that states: do something elese than rrational combat and violence in ur work mr. modder!!, then people will be happier than just go killng everything in ur way definitely!
Pure kill shoot em up, nothing more nothing less. there is plenty of ammo and health available but you need to plan your moves,
put short, the architecture is a bit simple and all, but the absolutely ridiculous amount of enemies in this makes me completely ingnore that
playing this in cinematic mod 2013 alpha patch 15 is absolutely sadistic and I loved it, except the anticlimatic ending kind of ruined it for me.
still an ok map nevertheless

These maps are very fun but have the problem most custom Citadel levels have. There’s way too many Combine Elites. I always thought of the Elites as something like the Barons of Hell from Doom or the Shamblers from Quake. They’re not used too often but they’re rather threatening. Some maps/mods make them completely not intimidating in the main game because you’ve already put up with the same enemy to the third decimal. This is that map. However, with that complaint out of the way, I had fun with this map and recommend you play it, but if you found the original HL2 rather difficult I recommend you start out on easy. The visuals are a mixed bag in that the levels are huge but very very simple. They get the job done but aren’t super professional. It’s like regular delivery pizza versus fancy Italian pizza. I’ll nom them both right down but one is a lot more professional then the other. I like making strange comparisons, don’t I? One more note is that it’s pretty fun in the final battle shooting and dodging energy balls all over the place. The ending is rather cool too. I recommend you play this map.

Maps are kinda empty but what is there looks good. I stopped on the second map. Megga hard for me. Kinda Doomish. The first map had four citadel chargers on the wall and AR2 ammo so it’s kinda “stock up and kill” kinda map. Maybe one or two play throughs.
