Aberration

for Half-Life 2: Episode Two

” You play as a Resistance member who finds himself in a mysterious place with no idea how he got there.”

Explore carefully as you never know what might be around the corner.

Keep your wits about you as nothing is as simple as it seems.

Sam Combs’ Notes from Critical Jim Video

When I suggested the idea of level design critique videos to Jim, it was always with the hope of having the author benefit from Jim’s eye for detail.

After the first video, for Station 51 by Sam Combs, was streamed and made available on the RTSL YouTube channel, the response from the community was overwhelmingly positive.

Sam published his response to the video on his Tumblr blog and has kindly allowed me to republish it here.

for Half-Life 2: Episode Two

“Gordon and Alyx are on their way to Eli’s lab.

Something goes wrong while you’re being transported…

Search the ruins to find your way back.”

Author’s Note:” This map is unoptimized and contains quite a few particles. This might not run well on lower-end systems. I apologize for any framerate drop that might occur.”

This map was entered into TWHL’s Competitions 33: Floating Island.

HunterVille

for Half-Life 2: Episode Two

HunterVille is the current mod in The Ville Retrospective event.

Here are all the entries for my HunterVille mapping competition. I would like to thank everybody who entered.

I consider it a HUGE success and as you will see when you play the maps, the quality and ideas were truly amazing. I had real trouble picking a winner and I suppose in many ways, that’s a great position to be in. I feel some pride in thinking that my competition has encouraged the mappers to make and release these maps.

Beach Party

for Half-Life

7 DAYS AFTER RESONANCE CASCADE
“Gordon Freeman and two fellow scientists, James Walker and Robert Bond, took it upon themselves to mount a daring attack against a beachside military base, in order to secure a safe route to escape from Black Mesa.

They were planning to lead a team of security guard survivors on a silent takeover, but the base personnel was somehow alerted of their planned attack by an unknown individual.

On that fateful day, Gordon and his troops set out towards the beach in their flimsy transports, unaware that the military has prepared some nasty surprises for them…”

MapTap 2.5 Now Available!

Update: MapTap has been replaced by Gauge.

WOOHOO!

After a lot of work and planning, MapTap 2.5 is now available.

So, what does 2.5 do that previous versions didn’t?

Well, firstly, it can solve MANY Steampipe issues.

It manages mods, maps and mappacks downloaded from RUnThinkSHootLive.com (it almost certainly won’t work with archives downloaded from other websites).

If you install a mod, it will create the correct type of gameinfo.txt file (and backup the original of course!) and often this makes the mod work with no effort from you.

To be honest, that’s the big difference. There are lots of smaller changes, but unless you are really interested in bug fixes and changes to how the code works, they are not important.

Now, we have tested this version a lot, BUT we can’t test it on hundreds of different systems, so if you encounter an issue with the application PLEASE tell us. You can either email me directly: [email protected] or use the Contact page on the site.

If you have an issue with a particular archive/file, PLEASE use the REPORT button in the application. I check the report every week and see if archives are broken.

Head over to the application’s dedicated page to learn more and download the latest version.
