    Is the same than /posts/escape-by-dmc-interactive-half-life/

    ??

  6. Is the same than /posts/escape-by-dmc-interactive-half-life/

No, that’s why it has a different post title. Sometimes authors release mods of the same name and this is how I make a difference; by adding the author in one of the titles.

  7. I think the link is out of date. It leads me to an overtake.zip file for a Star Wars game…

  8. Gilfrarry

I have a 15.47Mb file called escape_dt_.exe that refers to DMC, but it isn’t the most recent release.

There have been discussions on this post and, especially, the escape-by-dmc post about the confusion over this mod. Both posts contain broken file links and outdated information about the same mod, “Half-Life: Escape.”

Here is the author’s site: http://www.dmcia.de/escape/

You’re right, Phillip. There ARE two escape mods. I stand corrected.
Thank you, Olrick, for pointing me to the right file. My last comment was made in ignorance of your link, which was probably in the moderation queue at the time.

Here are the basic details from Fileplanet:

This is terrible! I don’t know what more annoying, the odd gameplay itself or the many bugs.
At first there is much hope as a cute lil cutscene appears. But then it gets frustrating quick.
What it’s all about? Escaping..okay, but that’s easier said than done here.
First of all find a HEV suit and some weapons. Then make your way through the odd areas which mostly are badly designed. The lighting is okay though.
Whatever, I’m not sure what the author was thinking how this mod is supposed to be played.
It’s barely playable at all due to the many bugs and also other essential things.
These things are: terrible balancing, a missing story and no atmosphere to only name a few!
    There’s much more..
For example, the flashlight didn’t work for me, I even could fix it in the config file.
That’s a problem because you have to crawl through vents which are jus dark.
Another thing is the quickload, it doesn’t work too. Maybe in earlier maps of this mod it did.
But as I tried to finally finish the mod, in map skill5, it just didn’t work! It kept loading the autosave, where the map starts! Not to forget many game crashs…

All in all, it’s absolutely a joke! I guess there was no testing, and yes I had to noclip often…

    ***AVOID IT!***

    Pro’s:
-A few nice looking areas, outdoor
    -Some tough combat
    -A few puzzles

    Con’s:
-Bugs! The mod should be called “Starship Troopers 4”; Okay, to name so bugs: game crashs, mapchange, flashlight and quickload doesn’t work,
-Balancing, there’s almost no health and you always play on “hard” if I’m right
-Boring mapping, design oddities and no atmosphere
-No story – escaping okay, but c’mon..
    -Almost no puzzles
-No fun at all, rather frustrating

It’s not too often an SP unit for any game falls squarely into mediocrity, so it’s surprising to see an HLSP unit that actually does, Half-Life: Escape.

Level design is actually good considering that this is a first-time release. It starts out somewhat basic but improves as you play. Standard fare of Marines and aliens, and even a couple puzzles, so gameplay is pretty much the norm we’ve all come to expect from HLSP maps. Nothing you haven’t seen before. Thankfully there are some new, interesting ideas dotted throughout that actually add to enjoyment. Architecture isn’t that thorough on detail, but at least everything looks decent, and there are few trademarks of amateur mapping once past the beginning. A couple scripted sequences help out too.

Combat receives an unusual effect from the MP5’s redefined behavior – it carries up to 100 bullets in a clip so it fires twice as fast, plus it actually stocks up on extra clips! This may have been a bug, but whether one or not, it ends up making combat easier, as expected. Thus combat overall is rather unfulfilling, unfortunately.

As far as HLSP maps go, this isn’t quite “good”…it’s more “mediocre” because of its oft inferior mapping prowess. But it’s still a fine play indeed, and probably worth checking out as something new.

Holy crap… Holy CRAP, everyone. This map pack did something that I have literally never seen, in over two decades of playing Half-Life maps.

I was killed by a leech.

    A LEECH…

    TWICE!

I would be impressed, but the only reason this leech got the better of me was because there are about 2 health kits in this map pack… near the beginning. Once you’re into the second map of this (mostly) gruntfest, wave your HP bye bye. You’re not getting it back.

I found myself having to swim (while crouched… what?) through a dark tunnel full of leeches with a whole 2HP.

This map pack is a fairly bland affair, with big chunky environments filled with big chunky “details” and a whole bunch of HECU. There are also the occasional Xenian, but they’re uncommon.

The readme also mentions a training map that teaches you how to use this new “cluster bomb” the mod apparently features? Yeah, that’s not included.

    Maybe?

A mod with Blue Shift layout, but it’s not blue shift. With Double damage to everything. Like Easy mode is too easy and must be harder. So he trades difficulty to quantity. Some games are difficult because player will repeat over and over until get a perfection, maybe it was his purpose. That way you don’t need to create more levels or enemies. So if you want to create a mod, just triplicate the damage and just place one vortgaunt so he toast you in one hit and make his lightning super fast. Let’s see if you can survive his wrath.
