Don’t take any notice of the online review by “Hornetking’, he must have been having a bad day. And he played it on a machine made in 1975.
Short maps with a few cut scenes. Good action scenes and difficult final battle. About 30 mins on skill 3. No bugs.
Short, despite the number of maps, but fun.
Map 12 didn’t load and the cutscene didn’t end the game, but I think that was intentional.
It was weird to fight the security officers/zombies (still, a break from the ordinary was welcomed), but nice to have a cop stick and modified mp5.
No puzzles that I can remember.
All in all, not that great or memorable, but it didn’t suck either, like the review says.. I never encountered any bugs other than the map load I mentioned.
I don’t understand the rating so far, it’s a single vote of 2, but the recommendation image is a 4 😛
Decent-made mappack about a lab with minor flaws.
Pro’s:
-Very good mapping and lighting, new weapon models (is this a Steyr Aug? Cool!)
-Some cutscenes
-Nice combat
-A few puzzles
-Lot of ammo, health
Con’s:
-Weird start
-Falling damage
-Short playtime
-A bit strange story
-Somehow boring and just feeling odd, don’t ask me why
I was a little excited when this started. The initial cut scenes are not particularly well done, but the thought of have a plausible scenario to play it.
As it turned out I found this badly designed. I got stuck in walls on level change twice and the final map never loaded and I had to load it manually – don’t worry though as there is no gameplay.
The new weapons seem under-powered and not very accurate. There are levels that seem to take less than a minute to pass through as well.
I did enjoy the final battle as there is an objective in addition to having to kill all the enemies, but all in all I say that this release hasn’t stood the test of time.

OK, this is a good mod. Yes, this mod have a not perfect level-design, cutscenes and other. But that was a pretty fun! This mod is good for relax after a hard day. There is a new weapon models and that looks good. I can say only one thing – espionage is a serious business.

An interesting mod with odd level design and some cutscenes. Play it if you are into that sort of thing, that sort of thing being not having much gameplay to go along with it.

It’s interesting to go back and play mods that were released a few years back. In some cases you can be pleasently surprised. Then there are mods like this.
Don’t get me wrong, this far surpasses anything I could have done back in 2000. Documentation was not easy to come by and the tools Goldsource modders had were rather limited. Having said that, this mod was released AFTER such releases as Opposing Force, USS DarkStar and the first two They Hunger installments. This shows the difference working with a team can make in terms of the quality and quantity of a mods content.
Espionage appears to be setting up a plot at the very start but then quickly drops it and it is never referred to again. The gameplay that followed felt more like an endurance test, not difficult as such but frustrating to navigate. I wouldn’t recommend it if you like your gameplay to be fluid, but I also wouldn’t suggest that it be totally avoided.

This has a setting to play with the automatic reverse mouse and once I uncheck that feature the player freezes in the map and i can’t move at all nor save the game… how can I solve this???
Yeah, like it was said at the end of this mod, this was a nightmare to play. A truly nightmare. Mostly because I had that terrible reverse mouse glitch I couldn’t fix, and no one apparently have it.
I also didn’t have the strafe keys available so my A and D keys were dead all of the time, and everytime I tried to re-bind them the mod crashed and I have to reinstall it again in order to continue!!!! what a headache!!!!!!!!!!
I was forced to play in that annoying way, so i just did the god cheat and complete the mod that way, which it was an absolute killjoy issue.
It seems that the concept and new weapons were good but just having that terrible glitch I just say this is an avoid it.
If there’s a second part like this one I’ll absolutely prefer not to find out and even less play it.

Ugh, this was awful. It’s like a first map but it’s a whole series of them. There is a decent amount of combat but never are the enemies given any space in which to work – the entire mod is tight hallways and tight rooms, with the enemies just sitting there waiting for you to stumble upon them. The lighting is awful, and is not even consistent at the map changes.
I get that the mapper was trying to make it interesting by having you tail the Gman through the maps, having you catch a glimpse of him here and there, but it just isn’t interesting enough. Add that to the bland mapping and awful lighting and you have a mod to Avoid.
By the way, the MapTap file did not work for me. It couldn’t determine the starting map so MapTap instead had the 7z file listed as the map.

this is pretty good
I didn’t enjoy this mod that much. Level design is poor and blocky, combat is very easy, and literally no puzzles unless you count draining the room where a scientist and a security guard are in. The ending is where you have to manually load it because it is broken tbh. Idk how the mapper screw up a simple transition between two maps
Those brute Barney are quite dangerous, I think he just took crowbar damage and gave it to Barneys. With some hits on hard and drops you down. Lowers his head and strikes with open arms left and right. How he did this? This is not included in original Half-Life. It seems he designed new movements and positions in Barney Model.
