Starting in one of the Combine pods, you suddenly find yourself dropped and free. Don’t hang around too long though otherwise you’ll get caught again.
You best bet is to keep running and kill everything in your path. There’s talk of a working Jalopy on the other side of the train station.

This is certainly not a bad mod but I didn’t feel it fulfilled its potential. Basically, I never felt that each environment had enough combat. I can imagine another mapper taking the maps from this mod and with a little tweaking nearly doubling the actual play time.
Of course, I could be completely wrong. Screenshot 6 is a good example. I probably spent 30 seconds in there and it could have been a few minutes.
Anyway, it’s a little bland in places and not as detailed as it could have been but was fairly fun to play.
Looks like there are some maps that have been released that were part of this mod but never included. I’ll try and add those to the site this week.
I don’t mind waiting another couple of years for Half-Life 2: Ep3 if mods like this one were released, say, once a week!
Nice action. Cool environments.
Overall well worth your time!
On the downside; As Phillip pointed out, some more combats here and there. A little more attention to details.
And last: It was easy to take down the chopper even without losing any health at all. That disappointed me. From many mods I’ve played the chopper is often a tough nut to crack. Not this one.
Sorry, I just didn’t get this, probably just me, I couldn’t seem to get in tune with the mappers way of thinking. I didn’t solve the puzzles at all, could have used a few clues really. I basically no-clipped my way through it, which is a shame. I don’t mind a few puzzles…but don’t want to try too hard, or I just lose interest.
The lack of challenge this mod has really puts a dent on the amount of fun it should bring. The map itself is great and there weren’t any bugs I noticed while playing through, but that didn’t make up for the ease at which I flew through this mod.
While I liked playing this little mod, it was a bit short, at times a bit confusing as to exactly where to go and what to do, and a lot too dark in many bits. In the last map, it’s quite easy to get stuck behind the fence (I just booted two cars a couple times, instant staircase) and not be able to get back in, but then that’s the last part of the mod anyway.
I liked the visual aspect of the mod the most – the little tour around parts of the prison first, and then the prison bits themselves. I’m not going to say that any of the maps were badly done, they were quite good. It is however a little boring over all, with not much to distinguish it from any other given escape map.
A little too much in the way of doubling-back at times, though I did like finally being able to go through some once-locked doors.
Good work, keep it up, concentrate on a bit more action and lighting, and a bit more visual direction to the player.
While I found nothing wrong with it (apart from the darkness), there wasn’t much new, apart from the start (which was rather good)
The ending area was also rather well made
I did find a problem where parts of the sliding door were incorrectly textured as dev texture, but there weren’t many other problems
It’s ok
There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s quite good fun
Fairly well detailed (If a little weirdly textured at times) and decent gameplay
One to download now and save for later
Meeehhhh… I already played half-way-through and I felt there wasn’t enough “oomph” to it. Basically what Mr. Philip said is everything I have to complain about and stuff. The creator of this mod is not bad at all, just, he needs to tweak it a bit more.
Oh, one last thing, important buildings such as Nova-Prospekt’s factory-like-thing seems to be missing from the game. Wonder how many important buildings and props are missing. :/
The Good:
AWESOME intro sequence.Very cool and atmospheric. Got me pumped up to play. The environment was well designed for the most part. I especially liked the outdoor area. Wish you could actually explore some of this area. For the most part it was a fairly well balanced map.
The Bad:
REALLY obtuse puzzles at times. Could have used a little more direction in some of them. The level feels pretty cramped and linear for the most part. Would’ve been nice to make some more free form parts. Some bad balancing. Right after the antlion guard where you can take a lot of damage you’re thrown into a gigantic room with turrets and combine. There’s health but not enough. A little frustrating
The Ugly:
The level suffers from doom3itis. Darkness everywhere. There was no indoor part that did not require the flashlight. I got a headache from straining my eyes.
The Weird:
Shotgun sound has been replaced with a huge “boom!” but the combine shotguns are normal? It’s raining but the skybox and lighting don’t sell the rain effect.
The Verdict:
A good map overall. However the darkness, frustrating moments and lack of a good climax kind of kill it
Overall this mod did not have enough combine resistance to be a convincing prison escape scenario. Based on the description, I was not expecting a dark and mostly abandoned facility. However, I found it fun in the areas with combat; one in particular where I had to fight combine and antlions together followed by a fun round-about with an antlion guard.
The mapping and visual elements were nicely done.
One minor issue I had were the map transitions. Some occurred in places were you could easily drift back into a previous map. I’m used to a subtle transition in a hallway or room where a door locks behind you.
This one is worth playing, but don’t beat up your kid brother to get on the computer to play it.
Good mod for first mod (or was it first big map?) I agree with all above accept that the puzzles was hard, ( feels like you don’t have played HL2 mods before :P) felt that they maybe was to easy. A bit dark but fun to explorer even that most doors was locked. Really liked the visual at the train part.
Keep up the good work.
I’ve played everything HL that I can get my hands on since the first one came out…that’s a lot of years. I don’t suppose the puzzles were particularly hard, more that I just didn’t get them…if I get stuck, I quickly lose interest. That happened with Machinarium as well, it’s still on the lap top half played…frustrating…
I quite enjoyed it but is needs more combat.
I can’t understand why EvILYoDa made it dark because the mapping is not bad atall.
It would have been nice to see more of environments.
The Helicopter does a runner – let me at it again 🙂
Nice for a rainy day (should be popular in the UK then 😀 )
I’ll give it a PIL because its worth it. nothing new or exciting but I agree it was too dark and I didn’t really see much of the layout. I got to the end credits so I suppose the obj was to escape thru train yard to jalopy.
BTW what was the bonus folder for? I see it contains screenshots “of mod development”, but it certainly wasn’t this mod
I really enjoyed it except for the amount of darkness. Yes I agree with the comments of those who rated it lower, however decided there was plenty of “good” to it, and agree with Phillip’s rating.
Anyway, I enjoyed playing it now rather than waiting.
A bit on the dark side at times, combat lacking in areas.Overall thou I give it a PIN.I love puzzles and this comes with a few. This mod is really long also making it good for an afternoon of fun.I dint look to see if playing on hard would increase combat or not.Maybe on the next play through.
A bit bland and predictable. All the big battles happened exactly where I thought they would. No new setpieces, either; everything feels borrowed from HL2’s Nova Prospekt levels.
Over all quite good, that, and conssidering the lack of mods these weeks, hope we’ll see more soon, is cool to play this one, and it is because I like the concept, is a rebel story, I think if there are more episodes we could see the “rebel story” on develop, but I agree that the main lack of this mod is the poor combat on it, ok, we could see a heli, at the end but u give it some shoots, and get’s away too cowardly!, id like to shoot down that heli’s ass, but didn’t happened, I think this mod, could’benn even better with a huge combat at the end, because I didn’t feel the pressure of getting caught again, well maybe in the warehouse just liltle before the end, but over all play it is short and kind of entretaining.
Help
Keep getting A.I. Disabled with loading saved games and cant remember the code to get around the problem.
@mel
Console command that usually works:
ai_disable 1 (the number one)
You might have to do it twice.
If that doesn’t work
ai_disable 0 (the number zero)
or just
ai-disable
I’m darned sure it was you that told me that years ago. 😀
But it shouldn’t have happened. The mod is good.
Perhaps you ought to:
Verify Integrity of Game Cache
and
Defragment Cache Files.
for EP2
Worked for me a while back.
Best mod for HL2 I’ve played yet – great job! : – )
The modding is actually quite good, but the gameplay just sucks! It is boring, repetitive and could have been so much better. Rooms and outdoor areas are so plain and empty, that there is no chance for any kind of atmosphere whatsoever. And of course the complete lack of a storyline doesn’t help either…
This is a fantastic little mod. About 45 minutes if you take your time. There are a lot of dead end routes to explore and some of these have goodies. The mapping is a little tight and mazey in parts. Someone wrote “cramped” which is a good word to describe it, but the author does a very nice job of constantly bringing us back into open areas. However, it is a bit too dark for my liking in some areas of the prison. It’s not a huge deal to me, it reminds me of Ep1, a player just has to be aware of the flashlight batteries. Some clever puzzels, and one is extremley hard (all of you know which one I’m talking about), but it doesnt take too long to figure it out because the area is super small, making it possible to solve the puzzel fairly quickly.
Once out of the prison the game opens up nicley. The trainyard is aces…very well designed and constructed, plenty of exploring to do, without getting lost. And the atmosphere is convincing with the thunder and rain. The gameplay is very well balenced, with good challenging battles and new challenges as the game progressed. I loved the helecopter part, as the author chose the airboat gun instead of giving us the cookie-cutter and worn-out “fight the big ship with an RPG” routine. That was a pleasant suprise.
One thing I noticed is certain ambient sounds would suddenly change when the next map loaded. That really felt rookie, and a little more ambient music would of been nice. And the vehicle section was even more ridiculously short than it was in Mission Improbable, which had currently been the champ for short vehicle sections. But overall, this mod was well made and is a lot of fun to play.
I hope the mod’s maker will make another chapter, preferably a driving in a vehicle chapter, since there is a serious lack of those in HL2 mods. I recommend this mod to any HL2 fan, and to give it a home on your hard drive. It is worth-while! I’ll score this an 86/100.

Steam is telling me this is not a valid format…
Thanks, Steve
Looks really good. But like a lot of the others I felt it could have used a little more combat. The end seemed anti-climactic. I was waiting and looking around for the combine or some sort of boss but it never came. Little tweaking and it could be great. Still will be a part of my regular rotation. Give it a go.
