Starting in a corridor, make your way through the facility until you find your squad.
They seem pretty pleased to see you, so they are either really lonely or you are a hero for killing all those Combine soldiers and zombies!
Either way, don’t expect a quick run through the place without encountering some resistance. Good Luck!

This map has been through a number of iterations via the Beta Testers Collective and has improved each time. It’s not a perfect level but it’s good to see the author listening to feedback and making changes to address that feedback.
This level still contains issues but is worth playing. The central fight against the Combine is well set up but has perhaps too much ammo. “Running and gunning” in this section just won’t cut it, so think a little more strategically.
The latter section is more about fighting zombies and you have a number of choices in the way you approach this.
All in all it’s fun to play, but should be seen as stepping stone by the author. I look forward to seeing what Bertram releases in the future.
Thanks for getting the map and review up so quickly phillip. The early versions of my 5 map map-pack as well as my rooftopville map are approaching testing ready stage so and I’m eager to have the btc give them a playthrough!
My first thought was the level had been well designed, the enemy placement was good, the hazards, specially the large boxes, were well constructed to give limited space for moving when attacked.
Managed to get through the level very quickly, about 7 minutes and was surprised when I finished. A little short, but more of this added on would gradually make for a great single player outing. Reminded me of the good old Doom days… running and blasting.
Excellent level although much too short, however, lengthy levels do take a long time to make. Not a bad waste of 7 minutes though.
Look forward to more of the same.
Thanks for the feedback Terry.
About the length. Originally this map was the second part of a trilogy of maps but I cut the other two due to issues I was having with them(like not using proper gridscale, ugh).
I’m very glad you enjoyed it though.
A nice example of how far the Beta Testers Collective (shameless plug) can really help a map.
The development of this level has been impressive, and I urge other mod makers to utilise the BTC. It works, and it works well.
There’s a reason this plays well. It’s the BTC.
Author of the map here to second major.
The BTC has been absolutely critical in development of this map into something I’m happy releasing knowing it will be fun to play through. I’m surprised more mappers haven’t flooded to use their service yet.
It’s really great especially if you happen to be a relatively novice mapper such as myself.
Level design was excellent, the feel of the map caught the mood and the action was good. All of a sudden some great maps are showing up!
I’m so happy to see this mod evolving with the help of the Beta Testers Collective. I still believe that the end is quite “sudden”, and that the feel of the mod, together with its level design, is still great.
Nothing else to say.
Agree with above comments, This map, although short was well worth the play. very well put together in environment and mood. game flow was terrific. Thank You Bertram for a nicely executed map. looking forward to your future offerings.
Glad you guys enjoyed it!
Thanks for taking the time to write your reviews and comments. I really do enjoy reading any feedback you have to offer.
Yes the BTC had its finger in this pie but don’t forget that this is the work of the mapper whom I commend for heeding feedback and acting upon it (mostly 😉 ).
The map is imaginative and well constructed. The combat gameplay has, perhaps, the best pacing of any map I’ve played.
Bloomin” hard in Hard though; especially against the Combine.
A 5 map mappack and rooftopville?!. Marvellous, I look forward to them very much.
My thanks, Bertram, for the gameplay pleasure and excellence of this map.
Hey Jasper. Thanks for the review! And thanks for all the testing work.
Your comment about the combat pacing is an incredible compliment. Especially coming from a veteran of so many Half-life 2 maps such as yourself.
I’m currently rushing to get the maps for rooftopville and my next map-pack done. Can’t wait to get my maps in a somewhat finished so you guys can give it a go!
The level design was a bit bland, but some of the action was pretty fun. It just felt to me like a dozen other maps I’ve played.
Easy because there’s so much health and ammo.
The courious thing about this, was that i’ve alredy recently played other creation from this author and the gameplay was the same and doesn’t vary from one to other, i’m talikng to I belive recently work from Bertand Chou, called: Lambda incursion, also the concept is the same, go find “x” person and that’s it, is cool, but just to have a short combat map and that’s it.
This map is ace…
I blasted through this map in about 30 mins. The firefights are really well put together, challenging and exciting. Puzzles are challenging without being frustrating. Envirornments are interesting enough to keep you engaged although there’s no stunning visuals included.
To put it simply, this is 30 mins of really good fun. Congrats on a solid and enjoyable mod!
I’m going against the grain here, I can sense it. . . but I’m happy to say that I personally and absolutely LOVED this. I had so much fun playing it. That combine fighting scene never seemed to end. And they put up a good struggle! Then when the second guys came, how i didn’t die I just don’t know. They got me good lol. I thought the map design throughout was very excellent and the areas where never too dark or too repetitive etc.etc. Action scenes throughout and all very nicely thought out. The crab in the vent was a killer move, lol.
But that end fight scene was superb. Trapped in there and head crabs flying at me same time as zombies coming for me. Then subtle extra baddies seemed to come on in the fight but staggered. Or perhaps that was just me staying in the centre of this mad arena? Wow it was good.
In all honesty, I personally loved it and can overlook some of the parts many ppl mention above. Because I so love it. Brilliant map. A PF of mine and it’s staying in my maps folder for good! 😀
