I’m not a great fan of zombies and Ravenholm but I can’t help but give this a WOW recommendation. Well, I could but I don’t want to.
The pacing was great and the layout was excellent. I had no issues with lightning or textures, but I can’t say I was paying too much attention because I was thinking about reaching the end.
The ending was cool and although there were a LOT of zombies it felt balanced and exciting, without being over-whelming.

I almost liked the zombies!
Are we being spoilt? Yes!
‘A Brief Detour” then ‘redox” and now Lakeside Village.
Again, an excellent map showing professional polish throughout.
It’s all combat – great.
It’s the pacing that makes this map the diamond of the three of these quite amazingly brilliant gems.
A lazy start building nicely to a near frantic armageddon – I kid you not.
I loved the TRAP. No combat player can resist (as remontimies knows only too well) and I’m glad I did not.
The highlight for me was the garage with 2 Combine and turrets – I needed the help!
The ensuing battle for survival after radioing – Screaming Abdabs.

This is going to sound silly but I never noticed you could cover a zombie in paint until I played this map! if you could do that and they go blind that would be so cool.
You could cover zombies in paint since Half-life 2. They even showed it off at E3 (back in 2003). Only 7 years late Phillip! 😉
As for the mod, really caught the feel of Ravenholm, but the difficulty level is much higher, enough that at the end my computer started lagging from all the zombies on screen!
A zombine blew up in the shed with all the fuel canisters and set them alight, so I was literally out of ammo for both my guns and gravity gun, I had to godmode the rest of the way.
Also you have to go to the left dock to get picked up, the right one won’t let you in for some reason.
I like the collapsing floor killing all the zombies as soon as you step down.
Also the ambient noise, even more than Ravenholm. Dripping water in bathrooms, humming generators, creaking floorboards, etc.
DOH! At least I am still learning.
Don’t feel too bad. I just figured out today that the lady who gives you the airboat in Route Kanal gets killed by the 1st fast headcrab in the game, if you backtrack after a little while. I read it on a Wiki though so not really “playing” per se.
There were only a few minor issues I had.
1) the gravity gun made things WAAAAYYYYY too easy at the beginning. This might have been better addressed by using more destructible objects, so that even if you primarily relied on it to do your zombie slaying, you would still eventually start running low on things to chuck.
2) I don’t like constantly spawning enemies, especially when it’s not obvious that they constantly spawn. If I hadn’t been primarily using the gravity gun I would have easily burned through all my ammo before even getting to the last crunch.
3) That last crunch was a bitch. The difficultly took a HUGE spike right at the end.
4) Enemies ALWAYS knew where you were and exactly how to get to you. I had cases where I was in an out of the way place in order to pick off enemies when a bunch of them would just leave, I’d wonder where the heck they went only to suddenly find them behind me having just taken the convoluted path I used to get to that out of the way area.
Other than that, it was actually quite enjoyable. The gravity gun offset the issues of constant spawning, even if it did make things too easy at first, and the last difficulty spike actually gave me a sense of accomplishment when I finally beat it.

It was a nice mod, until I got to the end. Then it was a great mod! I needed to use god mode to finish–I guess my brain just isn’t quick enough for something like this.
For a zombie type survival map this played well. I like the layout which had the player progressing from room to room, building to building across dark open yards with a Ravenholm feel to the sets. The zombie encounters were fairly well stage and it was not until the end sequence that thing got a bit overwhelming, which is the normal course of events with most zombie Maps.
For a map with limited gameplay, one that relies almost entirely on a single theme this map was designed with some thought, I liked the way the author had added lots of incident content to use against the zombies, one felt spoilt at times choosing what to throw and hit them with next.
The rescue helicopter came just in time for me, the game had played it’s time out and any more of the same would have been a bore.
If you are like me not a lover of zombie maps, you may find this one a bit different, it’s not the usual get surrounded by zombies and see how long you can survive, it’s more an Up Market Bash the Zombie Game.
Playing on Hard mode without cheating – and winning – is a great feeling. I felt great suspense trying to outrun the zombie hordes and pick them off with flames and explosions. I survived with only 7 HP.
The addition of Combine felt SO good in this level. It wasn’t simply another zombie map.
This is worth having a go at, but please try it out on Hard mode if you want to get the best experience of ruthless zombie hordes.
Its pretty good, but the ending difficulty is very unforgiving to say the least, try this if you want a challenge
An excellent piece of work ! With the exception of being able to decimate all our enemies with the grav. gun, I can’t find a bad thing to say about it.
Great design – plenty of combat – visuals were terrific – wonderful Ravenholm feel – nice open areas to exercise more than one approach and a kick-ass ending ! Enjoyed every minute !
gloomy ambiance, well balanced gameplay and an increasing challenge at the end…then you need to hurry…I really like to enter a map and defeat all enemies so if I need to run away it’s a kind of defeat which I don’t like it’s still a good and enjoyable release but iwon’t replay it 😉
Zombies! I had great fun with this. The end was very hard and I ran onto the wrong pier and too early, died.
Very nicely made I thought and seeing the little township as you were whisked away by the helicopter was good.
That was an awesome zombie mod!

I wasn’t so impressed by this map, this was mostly Ravenholm 2, with no great surprises…
Of course, the ending is epic with all this zombies coming from everywhere, but in the end, it is only run, gun, flee, and I had to reload numerous times, so I think it was more annoying than anything else, despite the epicness…
Overall, it is enjoyable, but not as other mods…
i added it in the maps folder and the other in the graphs folder but I cant start it can some1 help??

Fantastic.
The gameplay is nicely paced, and features zombies in the “good” way.
Has some nice scenes. Traps, collapsing floors etc.
It progresses nicely all the way to the end, resulting in a fantastic ending.
After playing l4d2, I didnt think any zombie map would ever interest me again
I was wrong
Excellent map. All is in, ambiance, action, music for a great moment.
I really enjoy playing it. the place is beautiful and very well designed. Excellent lighting and sound that make all the difference like the generator or a rooftop air vent.
Playing pleasure is enhanced by original idea like the breakable floor and traps.
Final battle is amazing, force you to fight with a barrel and run everywhere in your wait for escape.
Definitely a five star map.
The fourth Ravenholm (or at least Ravenholm-like) mod I’ve played (first was Combine Destiny, second was Ravenholm mod, and third is Combine Combat). Pretty instresting. Someone finally added Zombines to a Ravenholm-like map. This was pretty cool, but I didn’t expect the Combines in a building, I thought it was just the Zombies. Learn something new everyday I guess!
As a ‘reward” for completing these type of extremely challenging infinite-spawn-swarm maps, I replay the hardest battle with impulse 101 (just to see how they like getting hammered, for a change) however I got a nasty surprise when a ricochet AR2 energy ball vapourized the waiting chopper! Whoops..
I love Ravenholm. The atmosphere, the decor, the combat, I love it all. But the MAIN reason I love Ravenholm is the Grav Gun. Sawblades, flammable stuff and explody barrels to throw at zombies. This map captures the Ravenholm feel perfectly. The enemy placement was great, I loved the lighting and the entire map was well constructed. They also (of course) give you the same stuff to fling at zombies. It utilizes all four types of zombies as well, which is why it’s an Episode One map. But why are there Zombine in this village? Because there’s a small Combine outpost. It’s an interesting change of pace from zombies.

You find a radio to call for help. Naturally, when you use that radio, every single zombie in the town flocks toward you, just like in Left 4 Dead. After two minutes of this, a helicopter arrives for you and the map ends.

If you like Ravenholm, play this map. It is certainly worth it.

WOW. This is truly one of the best HL2 maps out there.
I love Ravenholm and maps based on it. And this map here, is the best Ravenholm map out there.
Everything was just great. The atmosphere and the mapping were all incredibly well done. The combat was really Ravenholm-like, especially at the last segment (I LOVED that).
Overall, you should definitely play this map. It’s one of the best HL2 maps out there and every single moment is simply enjoyable.
That was an awesome mod. you are the BEST!

A surprisingly good map. The author caught the idea of Ravenholm quite well.
The general aesthetic isn’t exactly Valve-level (but one could say that of all mods) however it nails the atmosphere straight from the beginning. The combat is fair and with just enough zombies to keep you on the edge.
You need to defend yourself near the end and that’s where I think that things got a bit too rough. There aren’t exactly any defensive positions to ready yourself with to justify the number of enemies. Only if you didn’t destroy the turrets inside the warehouse then maybe the odds would’ve been easier but even so there’s barely any time to set them in place at all.
Overall this is a perfect choice if your aim is a short dose of Ravenholm.

Gotta say that I really REALLY enjoyed this map. It’s smaller than you think but I love how intricate it is along with lots of interesting places to hide out. I enjoyed looking down and having some fun with the gravgun from afar! Perhaps it might have been good to have had the crossbow and load of ammo when the automated guns kick in near the end? I’d have enjoyed helping them lol
The ending was a little hit and miss. No decent weapon / ammo supply to take them out. But i imagined they would have kept on spawning anyhow? I made the chopper just by having a good run and dodging the hoard.
I don’t normally like cramped, overly dark maps like this. But this was GREAT fun!
The map is excellent, but the only thing I didn’t like is that there are very few ambient sounds on the map, but still the map was very atmospheric.

Good looking. Plays good. Spoiler hint. The end gets overwhelming. If you manage to salvage a couple of the combine turrets they will help. I set them up in the same room they are in, defending the big door. Block the big door with stuff to slow the advance of zombies. Hang out on the catwalk and help the turrets. When the chopper arrives head out the door at the bottom of the stairs to the docks. The zombies will keep coming so don’t bother trying to kill them all.

This was a sold recreation of Ravenholm. Great level design and lighting! The battle near the end was really tough, but I managed to survive while only dying a few times! Had more than enough ammo to last to the end.
I loved the zoom out with the helicopter at the end.

This may sound a little harsher than the other reviews, but this mod felt a little amateur. It certainly was not bad, but did have a bit of missing “Valve polish” that I love from excellent custom maps.
The map maker understands the concept of leading the player with lights, but almost every time that it was attempted in this map, it was either pointing in the direction opposite of intended progress, or there were simply too many “directionally strong” lights. One thing I can compliment this map on is how the turrets were shown to the player. They were made very obvious by the shooting sounds as well as the hordes of zombies being mowed down in front of them. Unfortunately, just after I was let down by the level design. I’m not sure if it’s just a me problem and trying to outsmart the map, but I assumed I was supposed to turn off these turrets somehow and was going to be led to a power panel by the abundant wires coming off of every building.
Additionally, the map seemed to have an “open-ness” problem. Freedom of choice is always a good thing in custom maps, but this map seemed to have too much of it. There were entire areas that I missed out on until the very end of the map. Even then, these areas weren’t just small caches of health and ammo, they were entire chunks of the map that were missed because of bad leading.
The ending felt a little too hard, even on normal difficulty. I was killing zombies left and right, but by the time that the helicopter arrived, I had at least 25 (or more!) surrounding me.
It was not bad, and certainly was very fun! This review is just me being a stickler.
